  1. Every song has a switch up which is really cool. But it’s almost every song which lessens the impact of the switch up in those songs. The progression becomes predictable. Like you need peaks and valleys on the album. If the album is all valleys or all peaks, it’s numb. I’m now expecting every song to have a switch up, which it did. That’s not that exciting anymore. It’s like if Ocean Blvd were full of songs like A&W, which sounds cool on paper. But I don’t think it would like it as much.

This albums feels like Ocean Blvd. In a sense that it’s structurally loose. Songs go places. L4na was really testing people’s patience. It’s a good idea on Billie’s part to make this type of structureless album short and with less songs for commercial purposes. If this album were any longer or slower, it would’ve been a huge flop (quality and numbers).

It's funny because it tries to subvert your expectations, and it does in a singular song, but as an album, it becomes predictable. And lyrically, it’s nothing special.

Still, overall, a solid album (sonically).

raise your hand if you're tired of people thinking the lizzy grant days were filled with darkness, suffering, and despair and claim it was "problematic" or whatever :holla: :eyeroll2:

Yeah, but they don’t think it’s “problematic”. That post is clearly made by someone who likes despairs and suffering and L4na… as a satire (which can still be problematic). They’re claiming Lana as their Cinderella. As their “reverse Cinderella”. It’s not meant to be a dig at her at all. They are basically idolizing her.

They don’t think “Lizzy Grant days filled with darkness and suffering” is problematic that’s why that post was made. The person who made that is the same kind of people here if we’re being real. It’s just a satirical take (“funny” joke) on people that like dark and emotional things, which let’s be honest are most L4na fans and basically L4na herself.

I’m just stating what I’m seeing.

There are sh!t being thrown at the wall all the time. It’s not healthy to be there and vet every posts on the internet esp a random throwaway meme like this. Like why bother wasting your energy replying? :deadbanana: If this was the New York Times posting this, yeah I get it, but this???

i’m sorry but depression and abuse are never going to be a joke, especially after all the things she revealed about her story when fingertips was released

The people made them memes ain’t listening to fingertips. Anyway, it’s a running joke about her always making “depressive” music. It’s not that deep. They might have gone a bit far with abuse stuff but that’s generally what it is. Satirical. It’s very clearly exaggerated. I don’t think the person who made that meme thinks L4na is actually like that or expect people to take that seriously.

Wait until L4na finds out about this account:

  4. That post was clearly a joke. It’s not meant to be taken seriously. It’s satire. I don’t think the fan account made that post. They just reposted it. It’s a meme.

She has every right to get upset of course, but it’s the internet. She needs to stay offline.

If the insider said it might be on Lasso doesn't that mean that it was always Lana feat. Quavo AKA a Lana song? Why would she put someone else's song she's only featured on on her own album? Although I wouldnt put it past her now that I think about it

Yes, but people are just in denial :oprah4:.

The leaker also said it’s a country (rap/trap) song, but people ignore that and keep saying it’s solely a hip-hop song. Qu4vo posting that video of L4na in the field playing guitar basically confirmed it’s “country”, but people ignore that too, saying it’s for other videos and projects despite the caption above in huge letters saying “Tough!” :toofunny:. The leaker also leaked the title “Tough”, which is basically confirmed atp, so they are not lying. And I don’t think Qu4vo is doing country music or has plans to release a country album. The only person doing that in this collab is L4na.

The only thing I'm getting really worried about is Tough! has a bifurcated structure like AW.

Imagine 4 mins of soft country and then a shift with Quavo rapping for 2 mins and lana's ad lins. 🤦🏻‍♂️

that would infuriate me. Like, just release a straight-up bop, woman, damn it.

It’s about 3 minutes long according to the leakers. Also, it’s produced (co-produced?) by Cirkut. He’s not going to do that.

    Also this interview:

    Quote

As such, she has plans to write an album of standards — classic, simple songs that could reach even more people than she does now.

  7. Deleting what I said earlier because I’m going crazy. Reading other people’s opinions before writing my own can really influence me for some reason right now.

I posted before that I want a classic sounding album with no features. Some how I got really excited for the Qu4vo collab, but then I posted again that I don’t want it :toofunny:. I think I got really excited for it because it’s the first commercial sounding song she’s going released in ages. Then, I realized I don’t know if I want commercial sounding songs (because it could end up sounding generic and gimmicky with the country rap thing), and I actually don’t want features on the album because her lastest album was already full of features.

I guess I’m open to features even though I prefer the album to have no features. I can’t really change what’s happening right now, so it’s better to just get exicted for it. I’m also open to her doing a more commercial sound because it is unexpected coming from Ocean Blvd that’s why I was excited for it. Something different is always good, especially from your last release. I just have some worries with the “commercial” sound. I will remain cautiously optimistic.

I still hope that the album is concise, even with the features. 11–12 tracks. I just don’t want another long album loaded with features and interludes like OB and LFL. We don’t want another album like that again consecutively.

  8. I feel like B3n wouldn’t do this 💃💥🤸‍♂️👅🙀🚀🚀🚀 if it’s not a L4na release.

Plus the polariods and the insider saying it’s a country song. If they hadn’t say that, I would have thought.. ok it’s a hip hop song that’s Qu4vo is releasing. But it’s a country song.

Unless he’s doing a country album that we don’t know about? The only person in this collab doing country is L4na.

I love how this sounds exactly 50% Quavo (I can only assume, I don't know his music tbh) and 50% Lana. Super excited! I want Lana to be THAT girl on every rap song.

This sounds nothing like Qu4vo’s music. Just peep his recent music. This is way more commercial. And I’m saying this for both artists. It’s commercial sounding for him and L4na.

    OMFGGGGGG

First single from Lasso is here :trisha:. I’m back sooner than expected because of this  :toofunny:.

People still asking if it’s for Lasso when the leaker literally said it’s a COUNTRY song. Anyway, from the snippet I really like how it sounds. It sounds like “Summertime Sadness” to me. It’s crazy. Like a more happy and midtempo version. Just very summery. A vibe. It also sounds like her unreleased song “Ridin’”. It sounds like “Ridin’ x Summertime Sadness”. And why does L4na sound like a little kid/boy at the end. The contrast with Qu4vo’s voice make it sound like that :toofunny:.

“Summertime Sadness” has this underlying western influence which is also partly “country” music. Genuinely hope the album is filled with “Twangy” sounds and guitars.

Also, this sounds very commercial. Unexpectedly so. I really thought the first single would be something more traditional. Like a traditional country song. Very classic sounding. A acoustic guitar country song like you know the Henry snippet. L4na has been releasing very uncommercial first singles or just singles in general since NFR. Doin’ Time was the only proper somewhat beated “bop” song she released since 2019. This is very unexpected.

  11. I was going to take a break from posting, but I have one last thing to say.

Genuinely hate the accusations of her being on Oz3mp!c. She’s been steadily and organically loosing weight since last year. Literally since the 2023 summer shows. The weight loss was already apparent by November last year when she did that Christmas Special.

Critics have been eating it up, so it's not much of a damage for her career

What do critics have to do with the Coachella audience? :toofunny:

Mind you, Blue Banisters has a higher “critics” score than Born To Die. And only one album is almost a career ending flop. Her reputation with the GP is on the line here. This is the first time I’ve read about people leaving a L4na show at a festival in droves before her set is over. I don’t think this had ever happened before. Her set is usually the most packed at festivals. This could affect her future festival billing.

  13. Honestly, I’m taking a break from social media and anything L4na related until September (Lasso) or whenever she decides to release the first single from Lasso. Just to let this Coachella mess faded and get my hype back for Lasso.

I was initially so hyped for this too. I really thought they were going to do something truly different, but the first weekend performance (not her best vocally and the vibes were off) and esp the same setlist (arranged in a way that made it even worse, baffling really) left me so disappointed and deflated. I’m not going to watch next week show. It genuinely gives me anxiety. It’s not good for my mental health.

She always had that idgaf attitude while singing, she's just vibing yk. Lollapalooza Chile 2018 performance of Off To The Races is a perfect example of her current stage presence, she's very charismatic and comfortable but she doesn't have the need to sing every song from word to word when she can also vibe and dance to it and heat the public up.

That would be great but she was uncomfortable at Coachella and wasn’t vibing. The public wasn’t eating as they left.

I’m genuinely worried about Weekend 2 being empty. That would be embarrassing af. Hopefully, a wake up call for her and her team.

  15. One thing I’d love L4na to add back to her shows is playing instruments. “Yayo” with the guitar absolutely ate. She probably hasn’t played a guitar in years now, but she needs to add that back in. If she’s rusty, train/rehearse more. I don’t think most of the general public/people know she plays guitar. It would be nice to add that back in to showcase her talent and to add even more variety.

Because right now her show is a like pop show with dancers, and I don’t think that’s the right approach. It’s like a pop singer with choreography. She’s making herself look like one of those pop/rap stars with choreography which is not what she is at all.

People change, it’s sad but it happens. She’s changed for the better too.

Well, idk about that. It’s not a positive change. She seems more sad (as crazy as it sounds). Secluded, lonely, timid, lacking confidence. Uncoordinated, spazzing and disconnected on stage.

Looking at the 2014 performance, you’d think that woman right there would be even wilder and freer than she was. But she ended up being more reclusive.

  17. I feel bad for L4na. I’ve been saying this, but she’s not taking good care of her health/voice, and it’s now catching up to her. The tone of her voice has changed. I’ve said this already, she’s been struggling to sing deeper live. She has to sing higher all the time and the tone of her head voice has changed to become not very pleasant. She’s also struggling to even finish a full verse of a song in 2024. This is probably a lungs capacity issues. In 2014, she was still smoking, but she was also in her 20s. The stamina was there because of youth. I’m watching her old performances from the last time she was at Coachella. And there was no stage fright. She was very comfortable on stage. Absolutely just vibing and really feeling her music. She sang every word to every song. No backup singers. No dancers or production. She was so natural and not awkward at all. Her movements and the way she sang were very artful and dramatic and quite beautiful. It complimented the performance.

Where’s the stage fright or shyness there???? Like the “Born To Die” performance there is just so captivating. Her movements, the hands, and everything. It’s like she’s performing and feeling the music and interpreting it LIVE with her gestures. No dancers, no backup singers, no back vocals, nothing. It’s just her performing. And “National Anthem”? She ate that up henny. There was no choregraphy, but she still ate that up. Just vibing to the music. She was literally walking around all over the place. Off the stage too. Just feeling the music.

She sang with so more much passion and conviction even when it doesn’t sound perfect 100% of the time. She also did interesting ad-libs to songs and played with the melodies at the right spots to pique people’s interest. And she knew how to end the songs and gave each song a proper climax with her voice, gestures or with the instrumentations. She was just really vibing with her own music. You can hear it, and you can feel it. It radiates to you as a viewer as well. She’s feeling her music, and you feel it.

Now fast forward to 2024, it’s very weird because it’s like it’s not the same person anymore. It’s actually shocking how much has changed. Her whole demeanor is not even the same anymore. Like even the way she walks and the way she speaks. It just seems like she’s completely disconnected to the music. She seems so lost on stage. I don’t understand. The vibes and the energy are so off. It’s so bizzare to me because she’s way more timid and insecure than she was back then in 2014. The L4na at 2024 Coachella is very similar to the L4na at that Grammy stage when T4ylor dragged her there (just standing shy at the back) and also very similar to the first MITA festival. People keep saying how she has always been a shy performer, but even the SNL performance, which wasn’t the greatest vocally (I do think part of her nerves affected her vocals there), she wasn’t timid and did not look timid at all there.
