  1. The Grammys also set a new rule just this year, so Lana couldn’t win a Grammy if Taylor or Jon won lol. It used to be that everyone on the album that won Album Of The Year also got the Grammy. Someone is out there to get her for sure.

And I’m starting to think most of the artist or at least their team knew the winners before hand. Why? Taylor’s team (twitter account) was teasing the Grammys all weekend. Lana announced her brand new album on a random Pre-Grammy event where she got to give a speech. That’s when I knew she wouldn’t win because her team most likely got tipped about it, so she had to announce it at a side event because she would not be giving a speech at the ceremony. Both of their teams (Taylor and Lana) got tipped ahead of time.

Also, her outfit looks like a mourning to me.

Alright, I guess we all saw it coming. We know how it goes, she's the kind of artist that inspires generations, yet gets completely overlooked by the critics and the media.

I know winning probably would have made her feel validated, but I truly hope this doesn't bring her down. I hope she knows that at the end of the day, no amount of awards will ever do justice to her enormous talent.

She really is one of a kind, and I hope someday... she gets the respect she deserves. But in the meantime, I hope she knows that not getting noticed doesn't make her less of a person. We all love her so much, I really want Lana to feel loved and appreciated tonight :bebe: sending hugs and lots of love via witchcraft :sadcore3:

Y’all need to stop saying this. Critics have come around and love Lana. Ocean Blvd is very high on the year end lists + A&W is #1. NFR topped almost every lists.

The Grammys are industry voted. Meaning Singers, Writers, and Producers.

Okay so mostly every album Lana put out, she always had a change for their titles :

    - Nevada 👉 Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant

    - The Best of LDR 👉 The World is Ours 👉 Do U Luv Me Yet? 👉 G.B.A. (God Bless America) 👉 The Revenge of LDR 👉 Born To Die

    - Tropico 👉 Paradise

    - Tropico 👉 Melancholia 👉 Ultraviolence

    - Music To Watch Boys To 👉 Honeymoon

    - Best American Record 👉 Lust For Life

    - Bird World 👉 Norman Fucking Rockwell!

    - White Hot Forever 👉 Chemtrails Over the Country Club

    - Rock Candy Sweet 👉 Blue Banisters

    - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd: Pearl Watch Me Ring A Bell Psycho-Lifeguard 👉 Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd

I have a feeling that she'll get rid of the 'Lasso' title and change the title to something more iconic. That name is horrendous and boring.

Most of these are final names being announced first. We only know of the other ones after the names have been finalized.

    With that thought process.

edit she can rework DICWB and Velvet Crowbar to sound more like that it would be so goood

I was literally just editing my post to include Raise Me Up :defeated:. Yes, Velvet Crowbar would eat as well.

  5. Lasso sounds very western (cowboys) not at all sad.

You know I just realized. I’m sitting here thinking because of the name of the album. Maybe my hope of her doing western soundtrack music is becoming real. If she goes for this sound (Raise Me Up in particular), it’ll be HUGE mefears.

  6. People saying she’s always been country. Y’all need to clean your ears. Sirens is not even country. It only sounds the way it sounds because the budget is 2 dollars. It’s not a fully produced record. Guitar =/= country.

And AKA is not “country”. Stop trying to make it country. She sang with a twang (that’s about it) but the music is very much alternative with a rocky edge even. It has many sounds. Bollywood, western, etc.

She’s always had different labels for the UK and US confusingly- polydor is a UMG label so she never truly switched- with interscope and the US though idk.

Exactly tik tok is counted as streams which is getting these songs into the charts not necessarily people actually buying or streaming them…..yet they won’t classify themselves as a music listening platform

Ma’am, what you talking about? TikTok “streams” do not count towards any charts aside from the TikTok charts lol. No official chart in any country is counting TikTok streams. They count Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, etc. And I don’t want to defend TikTok, but you can’t play full songs on there like Spotify. It’s not a music streaming platform. I don’t know why UMG is asking them to pay like their Spotify or Apple Music when only 15 to 60 seconds of audio is playable :toofunny:.

It’s unfortunate that this is happening right after she signed with UMG. The country album too lol. Back to being a flop she goes.

Country is one of the biggest genres in the US and Canada… She really could be adding lots of new fans if they feel the album is « authentic »

Just like how she added a ton with Chemtrails. And her cover of Take Me Home, Country Roads is currently sitting pretty at #1 on US Spotify.

    Oh wait.

  9. Is anyone else a little disappointed by her statement?

    Quote

If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening.

    What?

Like she’s always been a trailblazer/ trendsetter. She’s always doing something different and unique than what everyone else is doing. She’s not a “follower”. Why are you chasing trends now :crossed:? You’re not a trend chaser.

  10. Blind ballot from Golderby:

    Quote

Hey guys! We were able to convince another voter to give us their ballot. This is a voter who’s given us submissions before, including a lot from last year and some this year, especially some of the more lowkey country/roots ones I had to ask for near the end.

For context: this voter is middle-aged, male and leans Country/Americana/Rock. He’s been a voter for a while now.

    Album Of The Year:
Quite frankly none of these nominees are Album of The Year worthy, I found it to be a very weak year for mainstream albums. However, I voted for Midnights. Although I did not enjoy it much compared to Taylor’s previous work, she has been the inescapable face of music so how can I deny her music’s biggest award? I haven’t taken Lana Del Rey seriously as an artist since her infamous SNL performance and never will. Boygenius’ record can be considered decent but I am dissatisfied at how artists like them or Fiona Apple who are making such dull music are seen as the face of rock music, taking spots over actual rock musicians like the Foo Fighters or Springsteen.

Record & Song Of The Year:
“Flowers” is an excellently crafted song from top-to-bottom and got my vote in both categories. Miley Cyrus has a voice that is unique within the mainstream world and I think she is finally proving her worth. My vote was between that and “What Was I Made For”. Both songs excel in connecting to its listeners on a personal level, which is a great talent in songwriting, but I believe Flowers radiating feel-good energy did it a tiny bit better. On the other hand, I honestly find it distasteful that anyone would consider such a violent song like “Kill Bill” anything worthy of praise. I listened to her album a mere one time before voting and the degeneracy of songs like “Kill Bill” and the others is just something I cannot support and something that I do not believe the Recording Academy should be condoning.

    Best New Artist:
Easiest vote of the main categories: Jelly Roll. His life story is just inspiring.

    Best Pop Solo Performance:
After rewarding “Flowers” in the General Field I wanted to do something else here. “Paint The Town Red” surprisingly connected for me and got my vote. I don’t enjoy that kind of music often but Doja Cat brought a certain class alongside excitement to what could’ve been a normal rap song. She reminds me of Lizzo in that regard.

    Best Pop Duo/Group Performance:
Did not enjoy most of the tracks here. Found the Swift remix to be particularly awful. I absolutely respect Brandi Carlile, aside from some of her questionable opinions, so “Thousand Miles” got my vote. I would’ve skipped over this category had she and Miley not been there, no viable other deserving winner.

    Best Rock Song:
“Rescued” hands-down. May Taylor Hawkins rest in peace.

    Best Country Song:
I was very sad to see that Morgan Wallen didn’t receive any Grammy nominations outside of this category. I think the cancel-culture nonsense that is still affecting him is ridiculous and have talked to several others in the industry who think the same. Why is he being punished for a simple harmless mistake? It’s been 3 years now, time to move on. “Last Night” got my vote, but “White Horse” was a close-second.

    Best Country Duo/Group Performance:
“I Remember Everything” is what all duets should be and it got my vote. Zach Bryan is showing signs of ending up an icon in his generation and I am looking forward to seeing how his career progresses.

    Best Americana Album:
I’m voting for Brandy Clark. She is an undeniable talent. Jason Isbell’s album sadly disappointed me. I am usually a big fan of his work and have voted for him countless times before but I can’t bring myself to do it this year.

It’s cute, but it’s giving Arcadia/Blue Tankisters with the vocal mix. Just overly LOUD (and sharp, almost too clear) in spots for no reason. The original is more pleasant to listen to. I know it’s probably Florence’s vocal delivery as well, but it’s the producers/mixers job to be able to tune it for a pleasant listening experience or for the artistic vision. I only say “artistic vision” because some songs aren’t aiming for pleasant, but I don’t think this song is aiming for anything experimental. It’s aiming for pleasant. The production is great tho. That I agree.

  12. Everyday, I’m happy that “Grandfather please” is a flop song. It’s good for humanity. The white woman line smh. You can not deprecate the white race like that. She’s offending most of her fanbase. Also, she should not be romanticizing deep sea fishing.

Deep Sea Fishing is bad. It’s dangerous. It’s bad for the environment. It harms the animal. Her father should not be fishing for sharks as a “sport”. She should NOT be promoting that on her albums. The song flopping is vendication mefears. People agree with me.

Ngl I’ve always had the impression that Taylor likes/admires Lana more than the opposite. I never felt that Lana loves Taylor - she has complimented Olivia, Billie, Madison, Rosalía, SZA, etc quite a few times (not to mention the veterans and legends she stans) and never did I see her doing the same for Taylor. It doesn’t really matter but let’s not act like Taylor’s one of Lana’s besties lol.

52 minutes ago, Thats why they call me Dita said:

True, I think the snow song encapsulated that too. It’s like Taylor is your friends annoying little sister, you have to be nice and stuff for your friend (I.e. jack in this instance) but not have any genuine friendship

Lana posted about the song so blasé, like she didn’t want to but felt like she needed to.. she then put very little vocal in to that song and then said it was because she didn’t feel like she was needed..it showed that if Taylor did genuinely want more of Lana on that track she didn’t have the assertion to say so.. and can you really constitute a friendship if you don’t even have the confidence to say “oh no I think you singing the whole second verse would be cool”

Y’all love making fan fics. Where’s the Olivia, Billie, Madison collab if Lana loves them so much?

The answer is none. She did a song with Taylor (technically two) and multiple with The Weeknd and Jack (Bleachers). They are her close “celeb” friends. I don’t see Lana praising Jack either. Does she not like Jack despite working with him for every album? The friendship here is probably way more genuine than the PR praises she gave to those other people (and vice versa with the response those people gave back to her. It’s mostly PR). Billie, for example, completely ignored Lana for her Grammys speech. Acknowledging Ariana instead. A mess. Despite saying how much she “loves” Lana beforehand. When the time comes, they switch.

You don’t need to praise your friend everytime. They know already. Also, Lana wouldn’t feel the need to praise mega producer Grammy award winning Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift, and The Weenknd (all of them are established acts). She praised Billie, Olivia, etc because they are all upcoming artists. Taylor probably felt the same way about Lana. She obviously think that Lana deserves way more recognition. She’s trying to lift her up. And Lana is lifting Billie, Olivia up because they’re new artists.

her ''coquette'' aesthetic existed before ob was released, she didnt wear that much bows and lacy dresses before nfr. and notice how i said a similar thing about the cover on the comment

Most likely because of the Lolita connection, even though her style was old Hollywood glamour esp during Born To Die.

Also, Lana’s music has a lot classical composition (baroque). She sings with a lot of poise which is from an older time. As much as some fans like to think Lana is a rock star. She has only 1 album with a rock sound :rip:. The most prominent genre Lana makes is baroque.

And the coquette aesthetic actually borrows a lot from Lolita and the baroque/victorian period, which both things Lana has done/was inspired by :rip:. Those people (TikTok) basically assigned that aesthetic to her, even though Lana’s actual style is/was old Hollywood and bike rocker chick (UV).

With OB, she styled herself with bows and that kinda sealed the deal.

  16. 32 minutes ago, ulttraviolenncee said:

she lowkey fed this aesthetic with the ocean blvd covers photoshoot, but still, i see lana more as a old hollywood/west coast aesthetic (btd, utv, nfr and ob) and i really want to know where they got that lana is coquette since she doesnt have visuals or wear clothing that are considered coquette
