  1. I don’t think anybody with Lana’s catalog can have a setlist that satisfies everyone unless you’re Taylor and have 3 hours to perform.

Yeah, I wish she wouldn’t perform that many BTD songs but they’re her most well known and more importantly, uptempo ones.

i'm not sure why it says that on genius since there's not really evidence she's talking about that specific mausoleum :toofunny: it's an interesting thought but if you google "rhode island mausoleum" it's the just first result to come up

mausoleums are often the burial place of an entire family / group of family members, so i just interpret the lyric as contemplating familial deaths

yeah she wouldn’t put her family in an abandoned mausoleum. i think it’s really interesting that Rhode Island came up as a place as we’ve always known her as a California girl who’s run away from New York.

Is Uncle Dave the one who taught her the six basic guitar chords that sparked her music career? If he is, I think it puts a lot of the lore in place.

I think she only has 2 uncles where the other one helped her with getting into Kent

Actually I take most of this back. She has two uncles by blood but she has aunts who probably are married

  4. I can see her lines of thought on this album.

The Grants - opener, revealing her inner self (if you think the name Lana del Rey is a persona)

Title track - touches upon Sean because she was so heartbroken after that breakup but overall she yearns for love from someone who won’t throw her away

Sweet - it’s about Sean in the way that his new wife is a basic bitch. Lana describes what she thinks love is like day to day.

A&W - we know this one

Judah Smith Interlude - goes in on adultery, starts the thread of religion. See also gospel-inspired opening track.

Candy Necklace - ??? no clue what candy necklaces are a metaphor for here ???

Jon Batiste Interlude - reminds me of Pentecostal churches and how people start speaking in tongues so I thought this was about religion too.

Kintsugi - opens about her extended family. Lana actually explained the background of this song in detail (a rarity from her) in that Rolling Stone interview. Her extended family are a whole bunch of singers, showing that she never really moved that far away from her roots. “let the light in” motif

Fingertips - her personal history, darkest song ever
