  1. Yeah, when I bought the tickets, I bought a parking pass as well. It wasn't until I got the reminder e-mail from TicketFly the day of the concert that I found out that the on-site parking didn't open until 6, and that the off-site parking (for which I would've had to pay $10) didn't open until 5:30. We decided to just park somewhere in the neighborhood and walk. We had to park a few blocks away, and we walked about 15-20 minutes (almost a mile). Wow, so they DEFINITELY weren't enforcing the "no lining up before 5 PM" rule. Had I known that, I would've tried to be there earlier, although my wife wouldn't have gone for it. Her smoke didn't bother me, either. But I hate the fact that she does smoke, though, because I'm afraid it's going to eventually ruin her voice. Her voice is so unbelievable gorgeous, and I can't stand the thought of it being damaged by smoking. Yeah, we're in south SD. City of Chula Vista, to be exact. With some traffic, it took us 2.5 hours to drive home.
  2. OK, hopefully this time, my big-ass reply won't get eaten up!! Yeah, I can't stand the smell of weed myself. That's about the same time we got to the lawn. We arrived and got in line at 4:50. The line was already around the corner, so they must not have been enforcing the "no lining up before 5 PM" rule very strictly. We stood there for about 15 minutes, and then the line started moving. It was because they had set up the wooden stakes and tape and allowed people to line up there, so the whole line moved. We ended up about halfway into that area a little after 5, and there we waited until the gates opened. Once the gates opened, it took us about another 30 minutes or so to get through, and then we headed to the lawn. The audience was fairly well-behaved, except for the potheads, LOL. I think Lana likes playing outdoor concerts because she can smoke on stage. I heard she went through 3 cigarettes on Saturday. I only saw her smoke one on Friday, and it was near the beginning of the set. Also, a couple of years ago, she wasn't that popular and could play smaller venues. Now, I'd imagine, as popular as she is, she can command a large audience at a big venue. If she played a small one now, the tickets would sell out so fast that there'd probably be a riot! Me too! If she ever does a concert in San Diego, I'll definitely go, regardless of the size of the venue. I liked the one in LA, but I wouldn't drive all the way up there again (or even to Orange County) to see another one. Here, though? Most definitely!!
  3. Whoa, WTF? The big long reply I wrote disappeared. OK, guess I'll rewrite it... *grumble*...
  4. Oh gosh, sorry to hear about that. Since we were off to the side, we were in front but no one was behind us, so we didn't have that problem. When Lana was at the front of the stage, I could see, but if she moved back, then there was a pillar blocking the view. And since she does move around a lot, it made it kind of lame. But at least we could hear well... too well! And yeah, there were definitely people getting "high on hydroponic[?] weed;" I could smell it. I wish I could've been there Saturday to hear "Lana, sit on my face!" and see her reaction in person. I had heard leading up to this that LDR concerts are rather crazy, and now I'm getting confirmation. I'm 6'1" and would've been OK in the front, if only I could've gotten there... It'd be great if she still did small venues, like music stores and that kind of thing, like she used to. I would totally have driven up to LA to see her at the Amoeba, if I'd been a fan back then.
  5. We actually were in the front, but wayyy off to the stage left side, almost to where the security guard was. Unfortunately, both times that Lana came down off the stage, she didn't get anywhere near where we were. It was a lousy viewing angle, too, and the sound was bad. My wife had to move away because it was hurting her ears. (They apparently turned the sound down later, at Lana's request.) I stayed up a little longer, then went back to join her, went back and forth a couple of times (good timing, since I was back up front to record "Old Money"), and then we both went back up front during "National Anthem," but that's when she (for the second time) came down and only went a little bit to each side. Unless we'd been practically in the center, we would never have gotten close to her. You're having the double-whammy, since you went twice. Me too! I hope she comes to San Diego sometime. While I loved the concert, my wife was kinda "ehhh" about it, and I highly doubt she'd want to drive with me all the way to LA again to see another one.
  6. PCD? Post-Concert Depression? I feel ya. Despite enjoying the concert on Friday, I was bumming out on the way home and most of Saturday since I didn't get my selfie with Lana. But I'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me... errr, I mean, I'm hoping there will be another opportunity in the future.
  7. Anyone notice Byron's (the pianist) reaction? The guy shouts out just before Byron hits that high "Plink," then he turns and has this big grin... apparently, he thought it was funny, too. Wish the clip was longer, though...
  8. The web site Popbytes.com has a set list from Saturday, October 18. There were a few differences, mostly in song order. She apparently did "Shades of Cool" in place of "Ride," and shifted stuff around a bit. Here's a side-by-side comparison. I know Friday's set list is correct, but I don't know if Saturday's is. Friday - Saturday Cruel World - Cruel World Cola - Cola Body Electric - Blue Jeans Blue Jeans - Body Electric West Coast - West Coast Born to Die - Born to Die Ultraviolence - Ultraviolence Old Money - Old Money Summertime Sadness - Shades of Cool Million Dollar Man - Video Games Video Games - Summertime Sadness Ride - Million Dollar Man National Anthem - National Anthem
  9. I can't speak for Saturday, but I was there on Friday, and she definitely did NOT sing "Carmen." She did a brief sound check earlier in the show, and I don't know what she was singing because I was relocating and wasn't really paying attention. Plus, "Carmen" is a song I really don't like, so I don't know the words, so perhaps she was singing some of "Carmen" acapella for the sound check? I'm not sure. Perhaps someone else who was there can speak to that? But she definitely did not perform that song in a "normal" fashion, if she sang it at all.
  10. I'm glad she didn't sing Carmen on Friday night. I've never liked that song. All of the songs she sang on Friday were ones I like, although "Cruel World," "Cola," "Ultraviolence," and "Million Dollar Man" aren't in my regular Lana playlist. Anyone have the set list from Saturday? I'm curious as to whether she substituted "Shades of Cool" in place of another song, or just added it to the list. They didn't record Friday, so Saturday must have been special. Did you mean she seemed nervous the entire time, or just during "Shades of Cool?"
  11. Lana isn't lacking in social awareness. She just chooses not to give a s--- about what people think. She has said that on numerous occasions during interviews. Due partly to criticism she received, especially after SNL, she has said that she had to learn to not care what people think. That has, most likely, evolved into doing and saying things without any regard for the consequences. So it's not that she lacks social awareness; she just chooses to ignore it.
  12. Wow, so her setlist for tonight was different from last night. Do you have the full setlist?
  13. I wonder if the sound issues were fixed for tonight. Last night, Lana kept having to have them turn up her in-ear monitor, then down, then up, then she did a sound check, and still had to have the volume changed a couple of times.
  14. Lana must be in the Christmas spirit. Last night she was in red, tonight she's in green...
  15. Maybe there are multiple demos, but the demo I've heard (assuming it's a legit demo) has the word "kiss."
  16. Personally, I hate the altered lyrics "let me f--- you hard in the pouring rain..." I much prefer the original lyrics. But that's just me. The audience went wild every time she sang the altered lyric. And yeah, I know she's done that from the beginning, but I still don't like it.
  17. She did sound beautiful, that's for sure! She looked over in this general direction a couple of times, though not specifically at me... I was somewhat far away. Too bad I wasn't a good enough fan to get a selfie
  18. I just downloaded it, but there's a password on the RAR file, can't extract anything... ???
  19. Here's my recording of her singing "Old Money." Sorry it's kinda shaky; I was on maximum zoom. Also, she kept disappearing behind that stupid column and the barrier at the left of the stage, but at least you can hear her the whole time. Interesting how she changed one of the lyrics from "those summer nights" to "those Jersey nights..."
