When movies are delayed, we know that it's going to be delayed. I can't remember a single time that a trailer came out with a date and it wasn't released (besides the covid cancellations) or that it didn't have an explanation for a delay. The consumption of artistic work is different based on what type of art it is, but the comparisons still valid, because they are from the same field. She doesn't owe us because we pay for her bills, she owes us because she's a professional artist, from a big label, that has a phone and internet connection. She sells her artwork to the public. If she doesn't respect her audience, we have the right to be offended by that. Artists always thank the public at the end of a show for a reason. It's a symbiotic relationship

She actually does. That's her job. Imagine the New York City Ballet announcing a date and when it came, we didn't have any show. A movie being announced or an orchestra. Artistic work it still work. No one asked her to announce a fake date and then ignore it. She has time to wish happy birthday to every single friend that walks on the Earth, but can't type "I know that you have been excited about the album, but I'm still working on it and it's going to be delayed. Can't wait for you all to hear it ❤". At this point, I think that she announces those random dates as a marketing strategy to keep the hype going. I just unfollowed her on the social media. She reminds me of a dance teacher that I had who loved to promise a thousand things that never came to fruition. He didn't do that maliciously, but it was inconsiderate as fuck and I cut from my life anyone who follows the same pattern

Many reviews compared COCC with Folklore and Evermore, some mean blogs, comments on sites like Rate Your Music, people in music groups that I'm in also pointed the similarity. Taylor didn't invent folk or intimism, but releasing a similar album after hers, made the public unconsciously compare.
