  2. This is my favorite song right now.

I think the candy necklaces are the other person's faults (the restlessness and recklessness), and she's obsessed because that's what makes him fun to be around.

    Here's my analysis of it:

    Spoiler

White flowers, cinnamon on my teeth

And I'm sitting at the stoplight in northern town

    I feel lucky

The first line is a callback to Cinnamon Girl where she said "Cinnamon in my teeth from your kiss." This could be a reminder that the people we're with can rub off on us. Right now she's driving around feeling good about things.

I drive somewhere out of range, I don't know where

White noise coming outta my brain

    Turns off for nothing

As time passes when they're apart she starts obsessing over him. She can't think of anything else and she can't quiet her mind.

    Rockefeller, my umbrella

    God, I love you, baby

    Storyteller, us forever

    Is my favorite song

He is her protection in some way, but I haven't figured that out exactly. I thought maybe because he could shield her from being in the spotlight. She's the storyteller, and her favorite ending is with them being together.

    You've been acting pretty restless

Dancing like the young and restless

    And I'm obsessed with it

    Candy necklaces

Now we find out he's restless, but she doesn't care. She's still obsessed. It could even be that his faults are what make him fun.

    You've been acting pretty reckless

Dancing like the young and restless

    & I'm obsessed with this

    All his candy necklaces

She added "reckless" and says "all his candy necklaces." I think the candy necklaces are his faults.

Sitting on the sofa feeling super suicidal

Hate to say the word but, baby, hand on the Bible, I do

Feel like it's you, the one who's bringing me down

Thought that we were cool and we were kicking it like Tribe Called Quest

You're the best but, baby, you've been bringing me down

    I can see it now

Now that she's alone she's feeling suicidal (and points out that she does not use that word lightly). She has an epiphany that he's the one that's making her feel off.

    Rockefeller, my umbrella

    God, I love you, baby

    Fortune teller, favorite ever

    Was the story of us

Now she's a fortune teller because she knows what will happen is they stay together. He's still her favorite, but he's bad for her.

    You've been acting pretty restless

Dancing like the young and reckless

    & I'm obsessed with this

    Candy necklaces

I think that we should address this

Acting like the young and restless

    I'm obsessed with this

    All his candy necklaces

    We've been acting pretty restless

Dancing like the young and restless

    I'm obsessed with this

    Candy necklaces

She wants to talk about how she's been feeling and the way they've been acting. She included herself this time.

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    (I’m obsessed with) Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces

    Candy necklaces, oh

Candy necklaces repeats almost like she's in a trance-like state. Jon's voice comes in and eventually Lana's voice disappears and the song ends with his voice. This could mean that it never got addressed.

    vs.

    I been dreaming bout you

but I been singing with him

    I feel bad about it

  5. I'm not sure  there's a theme or concept with this, but these songs in this order are putting me in a trance. I was going for a Wipe Out! type vibe, but it ended up going in a different direction.

  7. Currently crying to Kintsugi, because my dad passed away a couple months ago, so I've been singing "Daddy, I miss you".

The part about the Road Runner Cafe is hitting me really hard. He had this car called a Road Runner when I was really young. It was his favorite car in the world (and he was obsessed with cars). We used to go to this old cafe for breakfast every Saturday morning, so I picture being at that cafe and getting out of the road runner with him.

I wish I could tell Lana "thank you" for writing this song. It's very comforting right now. A lot of these songs are.

  8. I think I'm finally ready to re-rank these...

    1. Ocean Blvd

    2. Norman Fucking Rockwell

    3. Honeymoon

    4. Ultraviolence

    5. AKA

    6. Paradise

    7. Blue Banisters

    8. Lust for Life

    9. Born To Die

    10. Chemtrails Over the Country Club

Ocean Blvd could be number 1 because it's so new. I guess we'll see in a few months.

  10. Spoiler

I’m so scared to listen to this album. I started to listen to the leaks but didn’t fully listen to any of them, but I’ve been reading a lot on here, including the lyrics, and I’ve been in tears just from that.

My dad passed away almost 2 months ago. My mom has been manipulating me and throwing me on an emotional rollercoaster. She’s always done that, but it’s been extreme now since my dad isn’t here to calm everyone down. I just miss him so much, and I’m not sure whether this album is going to be too hard to listen to right now or cathartic.

The third verse and the chorus get a lot of love, but I have to say that the second verse might be my favorite lyrically:

There's a girl who sings "Hotel California"
Not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like Florida
It's because she's in a world preserved, only a few have found the door
It's like Camarillo, only silver mirrors running down the corridor

Who else is writing like this? :xcry:

It’s my favorite too, and her flow on this one… oh man.  :worship:
