I love it so so much. :trisha: Especially the part "If I'm not there...", idk it just sounds so special and meaningful and reminds me of the devotion expressed in Old Money or How To Disappear (I'm always going to be right here), but this time it's up to her partner to run for her. It always makes me super emotional to imagine (finally) having someone forever by my side. :krylie:

Side note while we're (still) at it with the Beautiful slander: if I'm not mistaken, I saw people comparing Sweet and Beautiful but I don't hear the similarities :stareney2: Sweet is currently part of my top 3 in OB while Beautiful... well, let's say I now tolerate the verses. :awkney2: Whereas, Sweet is an amazing song with a beautiful melody, a real chorus and lovely lyrics :oprah3:

Now that's an unpopular opinion. :smile3:

I just don't know how such an inoffensive, harmless song like Beautiful can cause such anger in this fan base lmao. Blue Banisters in general is shitted on entirely too much. Overall, it's a nice cohesive mature record.

Chemtrails is more boring, though it's a nice album as a whole....she missed a bit.

Both are still good records that this fan base does too much on. For me.

It's not a good album tbh, sure I like it and it came out during the whole Tumblr aesthetics at its peak, but the whole thing was rushed (can't blame her, or maybe it's her fault, who knows, she is a liar), poor mixing, ok-ish mastering. Lyrics are ok-ish, the production sounds dated af now.

For the time it was great but many of us remember the album as a cool experience back then and we see it through rose colored glasses.

It's not a good album, but people keep praising it as it was a cool thing back then and it's her only album in an almost 15 years career.

    Idk, it's pretty solid still

Mhm yup cause Francesco was already around at that point, lana you dirty girl

I think it's pretty clear that Lana does not practice monogamy. In several of her songs, she alludes to this, being content with sharing a lover or being shared. That's why when the sleuths in that Lana-relationships thread claimed she cheated on Barrie had me laughing. And after her relationship with Jack I think she clearly has open relationships

Didn’t someone say that on her old accounts from pre-2012, there were tons of drag queens commenting and following her?😭

Well, she has several photos with Kandy Muse back from the UV days so I believe this.

  5. That just made me think like, maybe NFR is so loved by people because her songwriting kind of hit a sweet spot....still quintessential Lana style, but matured and refined a lot, the production also reflected that.

Truly a once in a lifetime record.

  6. I'm bored so I'm gonna list the Lana songs I use the least from each album:

BTD: Carmen, MDM, Lolita, Lucky Ones

P: I don't really use it at all if I'm being honest, but I use Cola often and American too lately.

UV: I think overall I've used Pretty When You Cry the least off this album, I haven't heard it in full in a long long time. Now that I think about it, I don't use Tracks 7-9 much and never did besides back then I stanned MPG

HM: HBTB. I never use it when I get Honeymoon cravings.

LFL: GBA & WTWWAW....especially the latter, at least GBA has melodies and vocals I like

NFR: This ones hard because I use the whole album more or less. I probably go for VB the least simply cause of the length

COCC: Tulsa, I've never been a fan of the song, and I cannot explain why.

    BB: A few I don't touch....

DYK: Love every song but I don't touch The Grants for personal reasons lol

That was fun. Btw, I like p much all of these songs, I just use these ones the very least out of them all. :) I do need to start giving love to some of these and switch up my rotation lol

  7. Kintsugi and Fingertips haters make me even madder when you take into account that these two songs are very personal, transparent and honest. During COCC she made a video talking about how she wasn't going to let people tell her story for her, that the popular narratives were fictitious, and the real story was more beautiful than what they say. Fingertips is the result of this.

Talking about it all: her siblings, being sent away, resenting her mother, wanting a child, suicide, death/loss of a partner.....I mean, she covered so many bases. As a long time fan I'm very moved by it. Like, sure a lot of this stuff we've known or has been inferred....but it's different when she actually sings about it

It's storytelling, it's songwriting, it's poetry. Those just here for "bops" and "cinematic production" or whatever it is they're not getting....you're just not gonna appreciate or understand the true magnificence of the songs if you don't genuinely love Lana's writing and story. I love hearing her sing about this shit, it feels really personal and touching and I feel every word, it's truly music for the soul. Idk how some people cant see how BIG these two songs are for her. They're so important. But thats just me

I love the Charli sections, but I'm in the trenches when Starrah pulls out that verse that's 80% a list of vehicles and weekdays (something only Charli herself could pull off), and then I die of infinite cringe when RAYE goes "independent in my whip like RRRR, in my baggy jeans I'm pulling up like SKRRT" which gives awkward energy that could only be equaled by, or described as, Katy Perry trying to sing a rap song

Yeah, that production and those lyrics date it for me. It's very much a product of its time. Thankfully there's better songs on that EP

  9. I'm listening to Born To Die and I'm just emotional rn. I think it's UV turning 9 doing me in right now. I just can't believe it's been THAT long. I literally grew up listening to her music and still use it daily. Thinking about at these albums and eras, and listening to the music itself, makes me feel so fucking nostalgic and it's so overwhelming tbh. Personally and as a fan.

She's had such an amazing career and released some of the greatest pieces of music in our generation. She really did the thing and I'm so proud of her. She has such strength and resilience it's unbelievable not to mention her immense talent. It's just in her DNA and it's been so so so beautiful to witness her grow and change through the years. I really hope I can thank her in person one day for that impact she's had on me through music.

  10. How can anyone call her discography consistent when it’s all one-off singles, two “mixtapes” (one failed debut, and one disposable EP) and now a “debut” album with material from different scrapped projects and sounds nnnnn.

You can be a stan and still not be delusional. Kim’s career is a MESS.

Even though I was not a fan when UV was released, Ultraviolence is undoubtedly one of her best eras, no song from this era turned out bad (even the outtakes)

Agree! And it’s a shame she isn’t too fond of the creative process she had going on with Dan. I think she said he pushed her too much and she didn’t find it helpful. But the results were A+.

Being a fan during that time was the best. I wasn’t too involved with the fandom like posting on here or anything but just the media that was coming out about her and the mystique and hype she had after Born To Die and especially West Coast was everything. She was truly the coolest most bad ass woman in music. Still is btw. UV will always be #1 in my heart. She captured true nostalgia which was felt then and 10x harder now.

    9year anniversary version coming  :hooker::lmao:

Wow. It’s really crazy that it’s been 9 years. I feel so fucking old. I still remember listening to Brooklyn Baby on my headphones, walking down the street on a hot summer day. This music changed my life. Thank you so much Lana for giving me the soundtrack to my life and enlightening me through your music.

I spent that entire summer streaming this album, and playing Florida Kilos to DEATH. Wow what an album and what a moment that was. I wish I could experience listening to this album for the first time again.

I think of it more as an overfluffed EP because she probably had the urge to make it an album considering she had promised one for years, but only few songs from it are remarkable I guess.

Also, there's just SO many guest artists it feels like a collaborative album instead of one of her own, considering only Honey Pussy is a solo song. I think Encore, Freak Like Me and Drip should have been solo as well.

And yeah, it's pretty much about one very thing, if it was a little more diverse I would probably appreciate it more. Now, I'd be just fine if the album was still pretty much about sex but with a more diverse sound, because even if it's a very short album (33 minutes for 12 tracks feels insanely short to me), it feels much longer due to its too similar sound on each song.

Ngl I only ever get to replay XXXTC, RIP, Cum, Swing and Boss Bitch. I prefer her material from her RCA days though I know she probably hates it :bebe:

Ew I didn't mean to rant lmao, sorry. I'm usually a Brooke defender but Sexorcism cannot be redeemed. Her newest singles are more refreshing, I hope there's this type of energy on her next album, if it ever happens.

Oh, I never followed Brooke that closely, outside of the hype from Das Me. I know she worked with Nicola for Opulence but I wasn’t interested in her.

I liked XXXTC though, and there were some good songs on the album. I think it’s pretty good party music. There are some duds tho, I liked Freak Like Me on first listen but it’s kind of unlistenable trash.

Is her work with RCA songs like Volcano, My Sex, etc? Yeah those songs were good

It’s sad because I see her getting down about herself on Twitter about her music career sometimes nnnnn. But it’s almost like what did you expect sis you made your image so sexual and one note for so long now. I think she could have been something but she was mismanaged or had little marketability.

  14. Why does everyone hate Sexcorsism? I thought it was fun. I'm surprised she doesn't have more stans tbh...I would think the Charli/Shygirl/Sophie crowd would support her.

  15. Tbh, I think the divisiveness on NFR is wild to me. It's a really good album, one of her strongest to me. I'll admit, since 2021 I haven't used it like that, but I'm starting to get back into it lately. I think the change in her songwriting, and the big change from sound after LFL had some people shooketh. Still, I think an album like this was always a no brainer from Lana....I always expected her to go that route, same with COCC. That's why some criticisms for her last few albums genuinely shock me, because this was always where she was headed to me. I like that her music has matured and her approach is more subtle. The last few albums have given us a lot of beautiful moments from her that are very pleasing to me as a longtime fan. And DYK is probably up there with her best but it may be too soon to tell.

In no order, I believe her best albums are: BTD (cmon, it's a classic), UV, HM, NFR, DYK. I do consider Paradise essential listening as well. The sound of Cola, American, Ride, Gods & Monsters was such a moment.

Anyway I'm bored at work so I'll just drop a few unpopular opinions for each record

Born to Die is one of my favorite albums, but Million Dollar Man (ALBUM VERSION), Carmen and Dark Paradise are career lows. Blue Jeans is one of her best songs, I rarely see any love for it on this forum.

Bel Air is super overrated. I probably heard it like 20 times in my life.

The Other Woman is so good and I'm glad it went super viral some time ago. Deserved.

I never understood why people hate on "There's only 24 hours in a day." People always share that singular line as if there weren't a few other lines right after that that develop the idea she was going for.

White Mustang is top 3 on Lust for Life.

The Next Best American Record > Best American Record. I used to think the demo was better, until I revisited it and decided the album version was superior. Also Architecture I don't know if it's a fake title or not but it's terrible.

Chemtrails is her least replayable album ever, and I hope it never happens again lol. I do like the record, and I think it has some of her finest vocals and lyrics, but yeah.

Black Bathing Suit is super good. Nectar of the Gods is one of her worst songs. I cringe at the title alone.

Fishtail only bad song on Oceab Blvd.

Some spills! Can I reply? Cause this is fun lol.

Dark Paradise is pop perfection to me. It's that post-chorus leading into the bridge for me, she put crack in it. I think it meshes perfectly with the earlier songs on the album as well. Million Dollar Man and Carmen are a little forgettable for some reason, I don't know why that is, because I like both tracks, they're just not favorites. I did see a negative opinion about Million Dollar Man in this thread last night and went to listen to it and I still enjoyed it. I think the production is "classic Lana" and I still live for the vocals lol. Carmen has really pretty melodies too. I think the other tracks on BTD are just stronger.

24 is criminally underrated. That bridge? I can't. It and Swan Song both deserve more recognition, they are stellar tracks. The build ups are insane.

White Mustang has always been a favorite of mine. When I think of LFL it's one of the first tracks that come to mind still.

I honestly never had strong feelings towards NBAR when it leaked. I do like both versions though. I've used NFR version more just cause it's there, I like the lyric changes in the chorus, and I like that dancefloor type of sound in the chorus, or whatever you call that lol. Can't remember if it's in the demo or not.

Love BBS. Someone called it cringe, and I can see why, but I live for the rage. The verses are heavenly and then she loses it in the last couple minutes, it's great. I love Nectar of The Gods so much, it just sounds so soul aching to me. I do kind of hate the title, I wish she named it Wild on You or something.

Finally, Fishtail is a BOP sis! Please play it on an endless loop until you are convinced. There's crack in there.

    Spoiler

Dancin' there in the hot, hot sun
I know that we've got problems
I plan to address them another day
Palm trees in black and white
    I see in technicolor
Maybe I'll take my glasses off so I stop painting red flags green
Lately, I've been sunnin' in the L.A. riverbed
Wearin' nothin' but the summer bruises on my knees
I like how you talk, how you speak, how you look at me
    But, lately, I can see

This is ORGASMIC as fuck. Listening to it literally sends chills down my spine and transcends me. It's a major bop.
