In a much more positive note, I'm playing her available music on Dolby Atmos in my Echo Studio (great speaker, great sound, seriously).

Don't Forget is a mess with the background sounds lol they are way too loud.

Now I'm playing her debut and Only LOL album.

Boy sounds so different, mostly with her background speaking vocals. They sound so clear and so in front.

Ain't Your Right sounds so much better, a better mix overall.

24 Hours sounds more polished, so much better mixed and mastered.

And I will continue with the rest of the album....

    Thoughts about these "new" mixes?

On Apple Music it’s garbage. They ruined the album

no we can't becuz that's what it is. and my fav is not flopping, she is at the peak of her career. she just got a number 1 and a grammy and her backup producer is max martin. how many number 1 hits does melanie martinez have again? how about top 10 lol?? i see why they call u crybabies now

Stop it. Portals just surpassed 200M in under a month on Spotify. I’m not even a fan of that girl but she’s in a much better spot than Kim right now.

Kim has nothing besides a string of one off singles, a Halloween album, a bad EP,  and whatever she considers Clarity (since she doesn’t acknowledge it as a debut album). All of which made no noise on the charts.

Unholy was largely a hit because of Sam Smith, and the production of the song itself, that can’t be disputed.

If this is the peak of her career, that’s pretty sad.

  3. I don't care for Halsey at all but she's obviously in a way better spot than Sky and has actually been consistent and built a fanbase plus her last album was well received by the critics so she definitely has options I'm sure.

And coming for her for using songwriters material is a bit eeeek when outside of Manic their credits are largely the same...and hasn't Sky been called out for her involvement in her own music before...

The OG cover is an abomination. Almost every picture from that entire section is a better cover than the one they settled with in the end. The "car session" in B&W were the most boring pictures from the entire series of shots.

I will be eternally pressed over this.

Acquire taste and maybe you won’t be so mad.

The OG cover absolutely captures the vibe of the album best, with its laid back effortless yet glamorous and brooding and nostalgic vibe.

There are countless of artists with a debut album only in 10+ years. Why are we so invested in this girl is something I will never understand. How she wasn't forgotten like 99% debut only artists is also what I'll never understand.

Well, she does have 2 EPs, a debut album and its B-Sides (yes we're counting that) but outside of her music well connected in the industry, she has a mystique about her which is great for a popstar. The actual output was good with Ghost and NTMT, with the latter being a cult classic. I am not surprised at all that people are still at least checking for her to see if new music will come. It wasn't like she was a one and done situation, the label tried to market her, she did her own thing and went indie, was able to attract fans through Tumblr at that time because of her aesthetic, and most of her fans are gays who can be very loyal to their faves.

can someone just do a sky mass with everything we need… like ik y’all r hoarding tons of shit and ur watching us suffer likee

I agree. Please just leak everything at this point, like what are we waiting for...nothing's coming. Maybe we'll get one for the 20th anniversary of NT.

  7. Wow that IG post + her reply :rip: It comes off really stubborn, but if she's paying for studio time and video shoots out of her own pocket I completely understand her hesitance.  If this is the case, I still think she should have kept releasing the best possible albums she could make under the circumstances.

If she's paying for everything herself, and the label wants to be able to mold her image and sound, that's a huge problem and I wouldn't do shit either. But if giving her the financial support she needs is contingent on her giving in to their ideas or not, that's entirely fucked.

Capitol is clearly deadlocking her on this contract. No matter what is truly going on, after 10 years no album and a clear frustration from the artist, you'd think they'd just let her walk at some point no?

It just feels like I'm watching a reality show unfold in real time tbh. It's so messy but I'm perched for more. If this girl doesn't start running her mouth sooner or later I'll be mad cause I want all the tea on this.

girl STOP- :excited: i also have a theory that k was mentioned in fingertips

ok so i'm not the most articulated person in english but i need to let these thoughts out:

    for k, pt. 1/drive-by

It was a drive-by Sunday night

Most of us were in bed all right

    I turned down the light

    Then I heard the sirens

    Interrupt the silence

    Is this what you wished

    To commit a crime?

    K's a friend of mine

I think about him as he does time

    Miss his white wine

    Funny I don't feel free

    Even though it's not me

    Is this what you wished

    To leave me behind?

    for k, pt. 2

I like the way you wear your sweater off your shoulder

The way your hair come down, it make you look older

How you get that so handsome, my boy?

    Oh, mmm

my theory is that k was lana's childhood friend, most likely her neighbour, not much older. she probably grew up with him, at a certain age started developing a crush on him. he was probably her first "love".

him being of course problematic, "chasing for that paper", abusing drugs, committing crimes and in general being a bad influence on her during their teenage years (pre-boarding school).

pt. 1 to me reads as if the police arrived to arrest him at his place, lana being his neighbour could hear the sirens from her room. she most likely never got the chance to see him again after they took him.

she probably had many questions, "what did he do?", "why did he do it?". he was a "nice guy", he was her friend, her first love, why did he leave her?

she keeps asking him "is this what you wished...?", questions she never got to make him directly and never got the answers to. imagine then hearing through the news that your childhood friend and first love was found guilty for double homicide and later sent on to death row.

are you still with me? i think these lines in fingertips might be about k

      Hide contents

    When I was 15, naked
Next door neighbors did a drive-by
Pulled me up by my waist
Long hair, to the beach side
I wanted to go out like you…

she did say something about explaining everything from the beginning. if k is real then to me it makes sense that she's mentioning him in fingertips too.

also, not defending lana's mom, but if one of my daughter's only friends (we know lana used to struggle socially back then) and probably first boyfriend turns out to be a criminal and a bad influence on my daughter, with her developing problems with alcohol and also undiagnosed mental health issues, i mean... not hard to see why she would want to send lizzy away to boarding school.

i know those lines are open to many interpretations but anyways thanks for reading my fanfiction  :air:

"Drive by" in that Fingertips verse does stick out. It's interesting

  9. Ok I caved and listened to the album tbh

    Spoiler

I only listened to all of these once maybe twice, so I still don't know what I will ultimately think of the songs but:

SWEET: Very sweet, no pun intended, it's a cute song

KINTUSGI: A lyrical slay for sure

LTLI: Honestly, I loved this one, I played it several times, so fucking good imo, wish FJM had more vocals though

Taco Truck x VB: I was expecting more, but it's good enough to be considered a "bop" for her, the VB remix is nice but again I was just expecting more

    Fishtail: Amazing

Held out on Grandfather and Peppers. Waiting for album release.
