Lana has released at least 2 fantastic records and many more albums that are either fine or good.

Um? BTD, UV and HM are all fantastic. I would even say NFR despite how some of you may feel about the production and vocals. Don't do her like this.

  2. She really needs to lose weight if it's something she's self conscious about, which clearly she is, she was holding her hand to her face to cover it in every Grammy night picture, I mean....

She dresses like a normal person which y’all are not used to seeing a celebrity do :oprah3:

A normal person with bad style :oprah3:

And I actually live for Lana her casual style but recently it’s been nothing but….choices :oprah3:

I was talking about her post NFR eras - COCC, BB and Ocean Blvd. Nobody outside of America cares about that SNL performance. Also I had no idea about that BTD hate until I watched docus about it years later. The public here loved her. She cares way too much what critics say. She proved that she could sing on music festivals. I don't think it influenced her to go darker. I feel like her UV persona was always a part of her considering her music and image always had a darker undertone and she idolized rock legends from the very start.

Fair. But we know she cares what the critics say about her, even as recently as 2021. She got a lot of flack for Born To Die, and she felt like it was personal. Songs like BB, Sad Girl, FMWUTTT, MPG...they all read like satire and winks to her critics, she was leaning into assumptions about her, imo.

The actual sound of the record may or may not be a reflection of that...but I think the subject matter felt like a "FU" to her naysayers. She even described her life as a "fucked up movie" in that I wish I was dead interview, and basically said she didn't feel any of the positive reception to her as an artist....granted that was in 2014 and she may feel differently now but I think it's safe to say she still felt misunderstood to the point where she released Blue Banisters album.

Same, and it's becoming a reality. I don't think she wanted to be iconic, I think it was her passion project and her attitude towards fame and performing in a sweatshirt proves that. Before that, she was marketing herself like any other pop star. I wonder what happened in her life that made her not want to be a mainstream star anymore.

I’m pretty sure the reception to Born To Die/SNL fiasco is what caused this. It made her go darker. It’s why Born To Die is a lot different from everything else she has done, imo.

I can see what you mean but if I’m recollecting correctly it was around the NFR that she felt a need to “censor herself”-whatever that means in terms of her work.

Are you talking about UV? Because I’m pretty sure she said she felt like she had to “censor” or “edit” herself (can’t remember the exact phrasing) after the reaction to the “hit me and it felt like a kiss” lyric.

I mean, no one really knows her except herself, but that's what I can infer from her song lyrics and posts. Her lyrics are sometimes a bit too superficial for me and not convincing enough to infer a deeper connection. That's not to say she's not a good songwriter, but I find some substance lacking at times.

    Really girl?

"There's something in the water, I can taste it turning sour, it's bitter, I'm coughing, but now it's in my blood"

"Green is the planet from the eyes of a turtle dove, till it runs red, runs red with blood - we get so tired and we complain, bout how it's hard to live, it's more than just a video game...."

"And when I love him, get a feeling, something close to like a sugar rush, it runs through me - but is it wasted love? It's not wasted love...."

"I love you lots, despite the odds, you're killing me Joe, and all these thoughts brought us apart, and that's okay too"

    "I had a dream that I was fine, I wasn't crazy, I was divine"

She has plenty of substance wyd.

  7. I must be one of few people who enjoy Beautiful. I love the lyrics for some reason, they are comforting. It does kinda feel like she’s rushing through the song to get it over with though. Especially in the second chorus. But I think it’s a pretty song with a nice sentiment. And I enjoyed IYLDWM and I love BBS.

    :lmao:

I think I'd be even more mad at that! I hope they go all the way, whether they take it there for me personally or not. I can't @ just slapping features on song titles for essentially background vocals like SOTB :biblio: so tacky to me.

Peppers kinda already divided me from the Fandom bc the gays will shake their ass to ANYTHING. And although I trust Lana, the source material has me genuinely worried. Haven't said anything about it bc last time I mentioned/made a joke about not being excited for one of the collabs, I was called racist:blush3:

inb4 they pull misogynistic allegations out their ass next :creep:

Which...now that I think about it, would be a perfect cue for me to stream Execute by Tommy

    if it were listenable

I feel the same - I was not excited for a TG collab, I've heard her music here and there and while I think some of it sounded fun it's not really my cup of tea to frequent. This collab seemed so random to me when I first read about it and I know a lot of you are hyped for this one but I'm going in prepared to be disappointed or taken aback lol. Her female collabs (outside of COCC & Stevie) are like bingo to me. Not that we've gotten too many. Lol
