And not that it matters to the art itself, but she still got a #1 in the UK and on the Billboard US chart, which is an extra perk for the label and her commercial success! So I would love a similar situation this time around :party:

    My friend in Taylorland says physicals were available for order on release day for folklore and evermore, but they didn't ship for months. So the music did not have to be sent to production prior to the release, and all those physical orders were still factored into charts on day one.

     

    Doesn't this solve the issue of "due to Lana's unique need for physicals in order to chart, there can be no surprise digital-only release"?

     

    Therefore:

     

    Global digital release July 4. Full vinyl/CD selection available for pre-order on July 4. #1 chart debut. Vinyls ship in time for Halloween.

     

    She's free to keep writing, recording, adding, and deleting all-new songs up until midnight on the 3rd.

    If it was my dream to release a surprise album with no advance notice, but I accidentally fucked it up by announcing the release date(s) on Instagram in a moment of unhinged primal vengeance, the OBVIOUS solution would be to release it 2 weeks earlier on my birthday. 

     

    Global digital release at 12:01am Monday/Pacific (tomorrow night). Feel the power.

    Text Book is sending me into another dimension.

     

    I hear everything from beat poetry nightclub 3am, to mid-60s Angie Dickinson crime movie, Back To Black, Tori, Kate, 80s & 90s dream pop, with a splash of Wendy and Lisa, and then it sends you away with this heavenly church choir thing and a little twangy desert prairie. It's so deeply incredible.

    reddit refugee here. I had to make this account just to tell someone, anyone, that

    White Dress has absolutely SHREDDED me for the last 3 days. It just rips your heart out. I think in a very short time this song will vault up everyone's all-time best lists.

     

    For the first few listens, I was being a little bitch about the men at the music business conference - it was like, girl you were two syllables away from a Ride! But that all melted away and now I love that bit, very reminiscent of Joni squeezing in a bunch of idiosyncratic description.

     

    The whole song is so delicate, open, honest, raw, pretty, a total heartbreaker. That unreal vulnerable vocal, the epic buildup, "made me feel like a god"... all so moving. It makes me reflect on my own life. A++
