i know we're getting off-topic at this point, but while i agree with the sentiment that we shouldn't expect "the old lana" back after almost a decade since her debut album, i really dislike the narrative that all she sang about was sugar daddies, depression, and cocaine, her music from that era was a lot more melodramatic in a way and it did talk about troubled love, sadness, and drugs, but she wasn't just a depressed sad girl doing drugs with older men and nothing else, i'll never understand why people view her music that way :whatever2:

i agree with you but i do want to clarify that when i mentioned those themes in her early music it's because she sang and wrote about those things because they were relevant in her life at that moment. born to die slaps and it makes my soul orgasm but what i'm just trying to say is that certain sounds and styles lana had went with the themes of her music, it would be disingenuous for her to force something like that when she just doesn't feel it anymore!

Mike said they would continue working together after this record, and after getting all of this off her chest it makes sense Lana would probably want to have a little fun to lift her spirits... this (bb) is either going to be very freeing for her or constricting if people continue to blatantly misinterpret her words idk... I wouldn’t completely rule out pop, hip hop, or rnb album in the future tho

Also I don’t want to start drama but can we not do the “since she’s 35 now...” thing..... asking as a 22 year old woman. We shouldn’t have to have this convo every pre release lmfao

I think you're really reaching here with the age thing, coming from a 29 year old. But lana's older music talks about things she did in her teens and early twenties. It would be weird for anyone approaching 40 to be singing about sugar daddies and cocaine still. Her music evolves with her maturity and the current events, that's just what she wants to do with her art and i think more people should be supportive of the direction she wants to go in because it makes HER happy. Anyone is welcome to their opinion but if you're still a stan you should support her happiness, and not only like her when she makes something that can chart.

some of you guys just need to accept the fact that you may never be getting another album like btd. it'd be very odd for her to do something hip-hop or a song that isn't a ballad during this time due to everything going on around her.

idk why people want a 35 year old woman to make another album she mostly recorded in her twenties.

yeah, totally too much piano. her unreleased catalog shows us how she can be interesting and how she's capable of switching things up. i don't get why she's stuck in this piano/ballad-comfort zone. the new songs are "okay", but don't you wanna evolve a bit? try new sounds? whole different production? we know she's capable of doing it while still sounding like her true self. so idk... hoping things will change someday. she kinda fell off.

referencing her unreleased work is completely irrelevant considering it's very poorly produced and a lot of it is decades old. this alone has shown how lana has grown. i think people get confused because lana makes music because she loves to, not because she wants to chart or impress people. she has evolved with each album into her truest self as an artist and that's the most pure and beautiful thing you can do as an artist. if this is the direction lana is going in i fully support her because i love her as a person and a musician and i'm super happy for her for being able to make music for herself and not restricted to what a label wants or being "forced" to make music a certain sound.

Cover concept! Lana “burning” the narrative of her critics.

If you look closely, her name, the album title, and various pictures of her - including the infamous car selfie - are on the newspaper. Edited to mimic the BB video as well. Hope you like it - the three tracks we’ve heard today are absolutely godly so I’m really revelling in Lana’s creative genius <3

Her deleting that post makes me feel like she wants to keep it our secret and that makes it even more special.

When I first listened, I hated all three songs lmao. I’m in bed now, listening to all songs again and really taking the time to understand the lyrics. “Wildflower Wildfire”  is easily the strongest out of the three imo, if only the weird sounding drums wouldn’t ruin it – shame on you, Mike Dean. Love the comments about Patty.

“Blue Banisters” is cute, anyone care to explain the green and grey banisters? What do you think the colours symbolise?
Also, for some reason the lines “And be happy, and that scared me” remind me of the chorus in “Without You”?!?!! Does anyone get what I mean or am I imagining things???

“Text Book” I still have to get more used to and I don’t really get the song yet (not a native speaker).

Overall, all three songs share a very distinctive sound, she sounds so desperate to share these songs with us, these new puzzle pieces, explaining why she’s the way she is. It reminds me of the way her singing in “White Dress” makes me feel. It feels so new!

I love this so much and i agree especially with the last part. There's something so urgent about white dress and these three singles. It's so desperately longing to be understood. To see past everything and to see just her and the human that she is like all of us. It explains a lot of the lyrics in these singles where she reveals very personal information to us compared to her early music where she sings more in "themes"

Don’t waste your energy with him ;). He isn’t worthy at all.

No offense bro but that last time you were here you caused a lot of unnecessary drama and negativity. I don't know why you only appear to spread negativity but please find your happy place, preferable in one of lana's three new singles. and then come back with a different attitude. :D
