The music video section of episode 2 was actually quite good but the last section was genuinely atrocious. The Weeknd is really ruining the show yikes lol

I wish the show was a Britney Spears kind of show, the cult part is pretty excessive considering it's supposed to have less than 10 episodes. Just like in Euphoria, Sam Levinson has way too many ideas and characters.

  2. I watched the second episode today. Still better but the dirty talk by the Weeknd's character is gross. Yes, I understand the purpose of his character is to be rapey, but he needs to be at least charismatic and alluring to the viewer, but all I see is Joselyn finding him attractive.

  3. There are countless of artists with a debut album only in 10+ years. Why are we so invested in this girl is something I will never understand. How she wasn't forgotten like 99% debut only artists is also what I'll never understand.

If the era isn't being rolled out the way she wants it, she prefers keeping the music shelved. She confirmed that herself in that comment a few days ago. How crazy is that? I don't know how Free Sky can continue to support her when Sky is the reason why the album is shelved. There's no Sky to free up but Sky herself. :smokes:

Exactly. That's how Katy and Halsey has played it and look at all the music they released. Sky refused to cooperate with an entity that not only has the money but pretty much owns her music.

Sky really believes she's Madonna Vol 2 making  demands with a "proper roll out" crap. :awk:

Those kind of people never do anything in life and have a false sense of superiority. Katy and Halsey are one in a million and Sky is in the majority of struggling artists who refuse to "sell out" a.k.a. stop being stubborn for the sake of their career. I know a person who's a talented painter and musician but refuses to make a profit because it may affect they way they create art. Same energy. Guess what, they're jobless, so is Sky in a way.

Also, Sky reminds me a little of Madison Beer. Everyone she's associated with went on to become an A/B lister and she's stuck in the upcoming artist/well known influencer stage.

While you guys are taking the psychopath and morality tests, I did the Jock-Nerd/Prep-Goth one :fabcat:

You are 23.6% Goth, 41.8% Nerd, placing you in the True Nerd category.

I'm a normie leaning to a goth but when I tried taking it with my teenage brain I was a larp leaning to goth. Makes complete sense since I was kind of an outsider who adopted plenty of weebs and nerds because they were the most loyal friends so I adopted their geekiness too. Now all of that is gone years later.

if i think of any more, i'll update you

I absolutely loved the soft buns cause I was bored of the textured homemade ones from my country. Now it's the opposite cause I realized that it probably has God know how much chemicals

The guitar was better than the audio version. It's more Sky. The audio version is great too but sounds more like a movie soundtrack while this reminds me of Cigarettes After Sex/Wiped Out (TNBHD).

I tought Ice Spice was a joke kinda like Bad Babhie was a few years ago but apparently people are liking her... :toofloppy: The solo Boy's a Liar is a BOP tho

Same, the first time I heard about her is in a video about how light skin rappers get away with doing the bare minimum and being thick. The Kardashians using her and their daughters for clout was so pathetic. They aren't cool with the teens anymore so their kids need to get to work cause nobody wants to work these days.

  9. I don't get the hype around Ice Spice. The only thing that made her stand out in my opinion is her hair. That song Boy's a Liar is also overrated. The rhyming is so bad that Pinkpantherness made up a whole new word that looks like liar but it's pronounced like leo. Ice's rap style in Boy's a Liar sounds like a random hoot cheeto girl tried rapping. The bar is in hell for pop music.

a teeny teeny tiny nitpick: i wish she hadn't added the belt, the dress was styled w/o one on the runway and looked much better imo, but maybe she didn't have time to get it tailored...anyway, she looked incredible, the hair and makeup are to die for, she is really in her sexy glamorous italian actress era and i couldn't be more in luuuuv

Women with a bit of an extra weight often do that with dresses. I think it suits her and has a 60s geometric vibe with a colorful belt paired with a 60s boho vibe and a little bit of glam.

I absolutely love how she looks. It's so Lana Del Rey but mature. Before the Interview photoshoot, which was a whole another slay, I thought she was done with glam and being famous. Her attitude is sweet and adorable. Just 10/10. A&W is great, now I pray for a NFR or HM kind of album.

I don’t understand why they’re blatantly lying for the sake of protecting Lana.

There's nothing Lana will gain or lose from this discussion.
If Lana wasn’t pretty and didn’t live the life she lived then she’d never be famous.

She was surrounded by the right people to push her towards success.
Adam had to work harder to gain leverage in the industry.

Why are we comparing two different people? They're completely different singers.

Adam is a vocalist while Lana is more of a songwriter and used to be heavily image centered.

Adam isn't that interesting but is an incredible vocalist. He's a good looking man, but he was always so uninteresting to me, yet he has everything to be an icon.

Although Lana used to be a Tumblr aesthetic queen, we wouldn't be talking about her music if that was the main reason behind her fame. She was original, her music has longevity, and it going viral on Tiktok every month says a lot. We didn't really know how her career would look if it wasn't for her dad but we can all agree that she's more than her image and looks.

Also, can we collectively agree that being a pretty woman in music is the bare minimum nowadays and that it won't do a lot even if the woman is exceptionally pretty? Look at Madison Beer, a beautiful nepo baby yet people talk about her looks first then her music, even her stans.

Idk if this has been previously mentioned but I’m just not buying into the hype the band Wet Leg are getting atm.

Their songs two biggest songs are catchy - but the catchiest parts are mostly references and I just feel like it’s not original for example

Wet Dream - “here we go here we go here we go” is a really common chant in the UK - to the point I don’t even know it’s origins but I know the appropriate times to use it and it’s used widely

Chaise Longue - “is your muffin buttered” Mean Girls

Even when they won their Brit Award they quoted Alex Turner’s acceptance speech.

It all just feels very recycled and unoriginal.

No real hate to them tho, they’ve had massive success so fair play in that respect (with some thanks to TikTok) . But I just don’t get the hype and I won’t be trying to either.

Also I’m not saying people can’t make references or quote things directly in music it’s just feels lazy from their pov especially as this is their debut and these are their biggest tracks

I feel like they don't take themselves seriously and that's okay. Everyone expects rock music to have some clever lyrics but it's okay for lyrics to be brainless as long as the music is catchy. That is allowed in pop and hip hop so why do we have so much higher expectations for rock? I feel like they gained a lot of attention because they have no competition, not because their music is that good. I personally like their music.

i def have a handful of about 10 songs by The Doors i can find pretty nice now & then but other than that :rollin: i wonder if it'll ever grow on me. my bf is a huge fan lmao

thats so cool!!! i do love Zella, she rocks & funny enough she was also my #3 on my 2022 wrapped!  did you enjoy Sunday In Heaven?

i think you've nailed it though pretty much .. a lot of the same things just being straight up regurgitated over and over, lyrically as well as sonically... even visually sometimes in music videos - it just gets old i guess. sometimes things can just feel a bit cheap or soulless as well nowadays. but i wont say more fhvbafdsjvfhbgs.

I definitely adore those three singles from Sunday in Heaven, Golden was also in my top 5 songs. I wasn't focused too much on the album but I'll definitely give it a listen. I wish she kept the Golden aesthetic for the album cause it was different and ethereal. Her album is definitely on my vinyl wish list.

I feel like music has stopped evolving cause nothing is left to explore. It's either recycled music or oversexualized. The only time something gets buzz is when it's comically bad or when a A lister releases something. Alternative and indie music is definitely better than mainstream in every aspect.

playing sims 2; i play rotationally (basically you play all playable families in the hood for x amount of days, then keep doing that)

Don Lothario is married and an elder right. He has this lovely house, went to work, there was a fire and forgot to buy a fire alarm, everyone was out so couldn't call the fire fighters until 1, when the teens came home.

The fire burned the entire downstairs of the house, including the family maid.

The only way I didn't need to exit without saving was because I bought one of the teens a phone that day because she had a want for it :defeated:

Someone doesn't use mods and it shows lmao. Jokes aside, I've played enough of Sims 2 to know how to cheat before it escalates but I often let it be chaotic for storytelling purposes and for the challenge.

In the Sims 2 I have a young family where both of members are extremely lucky when it comes to their culinary career. They easily get promotions and some extra cash. One was a poor teen who had a teen job and for some reason her job switched to full time and she wasn't required to go to school so I pretended she dropped out. By the time I married them they were lvl 9. The husband got a chance card and I selected the right one which made him 40,000 simoleons. I already planned to open them a family restaurant but didn't have enough to even furnish their upper middle class home. Now I can afford both. They definitely have the lucky girl syndrome.

also bjork- sonically the music is just way too out there for me but shes a queen for being a quadruple scorpio like moi :really:

the doors... idk whytthefuck bc most of my music taste is 60s/70s centric but its so boring to me aside from 20th century fox & light my fire- those are genuine bangers.

    basically any rap..ijustdontlikeit

n i mean generally almost all of the currently popular modern musicians, not to b a lame like that but billie eilish, olivia rodrigo, harry styles, ariana, jb  etc etc... i just cantttt.. lanas basically the only modern artist I listen to in full as well as some weyes blood, zella day, taylor swift & lorde

no hate to any of the mentioned artists btw, they're not my cup of tea but they're obviously someone elses & they still earned their success  <3

For me I love the Doors self titled album and Riders of the storm but I can't convince myself to like anything else.

Omg thank God someone likes Zella, she's was my 3rd top artists last year.

I've also become so detached from current music but so did my friends without us even being open about it. I rarely like anything so much that I listen to it by myself on earphones on repeat. The only modern mainstream artists I like are Miley Cyrus and Doja (and probably someone else I forgot). Mainstream music has become painfully boring and sappy. Many songs are top 40 because of Tiktok. It's so depressing to look at. I used to hate my country's music but now I find myself listening to our hits more because they're danceable and don't have some sappy theme. Not everything needs to be sad ffs, and this is coming from a Lana fan lmao.

I’m pretty sure the reception to Born To Die/SNL fiasco is what caused this. It made her go darker. It’s why Born To Die is a lot different from everything else she has done, imo.

I was talking about her post NFR eras - COCC, BB and Ocean Blvd. Nobody outside of America cares about that SNL performance. Also I had no idea about that BTD hate until I watched docus about it years later. The public here loved her. She cares way too much what critics say. She proved that she could sing on music festivals. I don't think it influenced her to go darker. I feel like her UV persona was always a part of her considering her music and image always had a darker undertone and she idolized rock legends from the very start.

  17. 20 hours ago, evalionisameme said:

I can’t see any of work post NFR being considered iconic in the grand scheme of her legacy- NFR will be celebrated I think because it was her biggest “commercial singer songwriter” moment-despite the fact it feels off to me in authenticity.

Same, and it's becoming a reality. I don't think she wanted to be iconic, I think it was her passion project and her attitude towards fame and performing in a sweatshirt proves that. Before that, she was marketing herself like any other pop star. I wonder what happened in her life that made her not want to be a mainstream star anymore.

  18. I find it absolutely insane how Sims 4 is NINE YEARS OLD and younger Gen Z literally grew up playing it. Meanwhile the older Gen Z most likely got to experience all or almost all the Sims games.

Pure pop does exist-its a genre in itself-I’m sick of hearing the same tired rhetoric that pop means “popular”, no it doesn’t necessarily.

The Beatles have always been included in pop because they make pop rock mostly.  Rock has always been called rock.

I just heard someone try to argue teenage dream is electro rock :lmao: I don’t like Katy but she is clearly pure pop.

Baby one more time is pure pop.

    Thriller is pure pop.

    S&m is pure pop.

Call me maybe is pure pop- a guitar does not mean “rock”.

Yeah, metal was once mainstream, so does it make it pop? No. I would say that anything popular and catchy with a pop formula is, in fact, pop, regardless if it's performed by a band or electronic. Moves Like Jagger and Animals is performed by a band of rockers but the songs are pure pop. I hate how pop music became shittier cause it has become shallow to be a pop star. Ava Max, Dua Lipa and a handful of others are pure pop right now and aren't pretending to be anything else. Ava is a flea market knock off of Lady Gaga in 2008-2009 but that's another story.

Also we as a society don't need that many yassifed female rappers that essentially sound all the same.

We need to leave pop punk in the 2000s. It was fun, but it's time to evolve, not recycle. (Looking at you, Avril)

  20. I'm seriously getting fed up with collecting but I still somehow have the will to do it. Prices were always much higher in my country (35€+ for a 1LP basic ass album ) so I? always turned to online shopping unless it was second hand. There was f,s this German site that had cheap vinyl and cheap shipping, thank God I got Ultraviolence deluxe version there but since prices got up, the shipping got 5x more expensive. Now Ebay is the only place I shop and when I travel to an EU country since everything there is 30% cheaper. I always bring a half empty suitcase just in case.

  21. Not music related but her recent aesthetic is just uncanny. It seems like she's trying to look like a tween. The clothing itself is cute and classy, but the way she posing her photos, using too much filters and the plastic surgery is just creepy. She's obviously terrified of aging older which I don't understand cause she has always looked youthful even when she tried to appear mature and sexy.
