My mom doesn't listen to foreign music but she liked Shades of Blue enough that she came in to my bedroom and said how beautiful the chorus is. Her friends love Lana and were praising me when I showed her records. 

Summertime Sadness, Dark Paradise, Born To Die (sometimes), cause it was so overplayed and my brain got bored after 10ish years. 

Terrance Loves You - I was pretty depressed when listening to this song, also the overall message and the hidden meaning made my cry. The song is so beautiful but I would rather skip it. 

Venice Bitch - The song is background music and I used to love playing it when chilling but now it's too boring even as a background song. 

Doin Time - I started listening to it again occasionally since it got viral on Tiktok but before that I avoided it because it reminds me of a heatwave during summer of 2019, me being stressed about exams and one of the most boring summers I had. The cats under my window were pissing and it smelled like death when it evaporated because of the heatwave. I couldn't sleep nor eat by how bad it was and didn't have windows facing in other directions. So Doin Time reminds me of cat piss.

Exactly. Also the majority of active bands release some dark music in a warehouse with leather jackets and it's so obvious that it's safe music for fans only. Totally uncreative and underwhelming. I miss party songs and rockstars. Maneskin is the only band that resembles rock and rockstars in its prime although I'm not their biggest fan. 

I always get annoyed when someone complains about rock being dead and some smart ass telling that are still good underground bands/artists. Yeah we know, that goes for every genre, people are complaining about rock not having cultural significance anymore, not being anywhere in top 40, and frontliners on festivals being usually 20+ year old bands.

Yeah, that's what I thought but her announcing a tour now is a bit suspicious. Time will tell. Hopefully it's false. 

Did you heard about those allegations against her being involved in human trafficking? I deeply respect Madonna as an artist but I also expect the worst from her behind the scenes. She was on Epstein's guest list after all.

Omg I completely forgot about this girl. I used to listen to her a little bit around in 2013. Fuck U Betta was my favorite song of hers. My memory was unlocked when my favorite IG meme creator, a Lana Stan of course, posted Fuck U Better and I immediately played it. I still have no idea how I discovered her. I think somebody posted her song and claiming it's a leak by an A list singer and somebody exposed then in the comments. That used to be popular in early 2010s.

Did she ever aknowledge this thread at all? I feel like this part of the internet cares the most about her. I see her periodically on Tiktok but it's mostly nostalgia tumblr-related stuff, nobody mentions her new music. 

Her pre-Ghost electro pop era is embarrassing. I would eat it up at ages 11-13 but the songs still sound like flops. Sky did her part well, the music was just unlistenable. Kinda sad how labels set artists up for failure for giving them bad songs.

I think the whole situation with Sky and Capitol is a deadlock. I’m no Sky apologist, I believe she's partially at fault but seeing how the same label has handled other female artists like Tinashe, Normani and even Halsey, I wouldn’t put it past them to hold Sky hostage in a way.

 

I believe that they are not willing to increase her budget if she refuses to make an album according to their wishes. I also believe that she doesn’t like the album she recorded so far. It really sounds like mixed bag and a bleached version of NTMT. Far more mainstream and less grungy. I think they are still having disputes and she can’t afford getting out of her record deal.

 

Like I said: deadlock. Her concert issues might be related to her lack budget. The musicians need to be paid, rehearsals, etc. I think she really is broke as fuck and stuck with a label who isn’t willing to promote or support her in any way cause she owes them money.

Her situation is pretty complicated and we still have no idea what's happening. What is pretty red flag-ish on Sky's part is that she won't become an indie artist. Tinashe left the label and is successfully released better music with quality music videos. I feel like Sky's clinging onto something rather than being trapped. I feel like she relys way too much on traditional way of promoting and releasing music rather than taking matters into her own hands. Maybe she's way too insecure to release music by herself. Maybe she needs to re-record all of the songs. We have no idea. There are plenty of DIY artists, she can always record music videos on her phone. Video Games is a DIY music video after all. I feel like Sky expects some Miley Cyrus Plastic Hearts level of production and promotion and the label says no cause she owes money and doesn't being enough profit.

If this was 2015, us comparing Halsey and Sky would be completely valid, but it's 2023 ffs. Halsey had a shitty sellout era but she was in her early 20s. Now she's in her late 20s and her last album was phenomenal. Halsey has grown more as an artist, is a better performer than Sky and more famous. I wish that Sky's career was more successful so we could compare them but they're incomparable at this point. What was Sky doing while Halsey was being a sellout and earning millions? Idk, teasing Masochism. What she's doing now? Teasing Masochism. Be fucking for real. A couple of songs from NTMT are really good, the rest are forgettable tumblr indie pop, Badlands at least makes me nostalgic and gives me an urge to put on a plaid skirt, over knee socks, a choker, a halter top and take pics on that Instax mini polaroid. 

Once Upon a Dream is pretty haunting. Sounds like she's singing over a grave of her loved one. I can also imagine a lonely ghost in a haunted house singing about her dead husband/lover she never got to see in the afterlife.
