I've gone back and forth on if the "lie la lie"s in IYLDWM are a reference to Simon & Garfunkel "The Boxer." I always think of it. I can't see a thematic connection between the songs, but it's such a well-known chorus, I'm sure she would've had it in mind.

I like to think so, since she's in her folk phase right now. And her work is full of such references that we may not have uncovered all yet.

In regards to what the 'one word' is, Lana said it was one that affected the rest of the album. I immediately thought it was "mother" (which she says on BBS).

The matriarchal theme has never been a present theme on any album of Lana's before, yet it underlies and informs many of the experiences she sings about on this record. Our familial upbringing – particularly our relationships with our parents – undoubtedly has the most impact on the way we move through the world. :poordat:

or "mommy" in cherry blossom. Right after the comment, she sang the song.

The trio is about how blue banisters is about three men

    Sean first 3 songs

    Clay next 6

    Barrie the rest

    Excluding wfwf and sweet carolina

and who is the "good", the "bad" and the "ugly"? ;) Interesting, because the number 3 plays an important role in this album. Three women in the blue banisters video, three humans/pets on front and back cover, three singles dropped at the beginning ...

for me the album have three parts: text book to interlude, bbs to wildflower and nectar to sweet caroline. despite i love bb, nectar and cherry blossom, the second part is really insane. best sequence ever

for me it is a bit more complex, in general four parts, but with transitions:

    PART 1
    1. Text Book
    2. Blue Banisters
        3. Arcadia

    4. Interlude

    PART 2
    5. Black Bathing Suit
    6. If You Lie Down With Me
    7. Beautiful
        8. Violet For Roses

    PART 3
    9. Dealer
    10. Thunder
        11. Wildflower Wildfire
    12. Nectar of the Gods

    PART 4
    13. Living Legend
    14. Cherry Blossom
        15. Sweet Carolina

(By the way I found out, WW sounds better for me when played directly after IYLDWM)

  7. a short soundcheck from my local radio station:

    Quote

On Lana Del Rey's 8th album, the groundhog says hello: against a pompous, melancholy backdrop, she murmurs of painful longing, transfigured America and motorized means of transport - you know. But it's not all as usual: Jack Antonoff is no longer with the band after two albums together. He is not missed: "Blue Banisters" has what it takes to replace "Norman Fucking Rockwell!" as Del Rey's best record so far.
