Saw Honeymoon added to story notification

Opened up her instagram and clicked on the story

Saw a still of her sitting down like she will give a 5 minute talk about a recent incident

    Anxiety increased

She took a breath before opening her mouth

Thinking “Oh god no, it’s not happening”

    She started singing Suburban House

    Huge relief

no same i was fully expecting a statement and then she started singing that damn song:awkney2:

there is now an ig account @/alettertolana asking her to remove her name and they started a petition too

i’m sorry but wtf was this meant to do? lana is not the president of the united states, and her opinion does not matter. it only shows who she is as a person

i wish people put this much energy into actually helping stop this genocide-

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't every single Israeli citizen required to do at least one year of mandatory military service? they haven't had any military conflicts aside from with Palestine, so if you are an Israeli citizen (unless you chose to be arrested instead) you were directly involved in and contributed to genocide for a year at minimum. if this is true, I have no sympathy for any Israeli person over the age of 18

yeah same, i feel empathy for the kids but the adults can rot in hell idc

No they are not.. they are on a mission to exterminate Hamas

An unfortunate and vastly overdone response to one of the worst terror attacks the world has ever seen by terrorist group Hamas - the intent of the Israeli bombings are to eliminate Hamas military targets, not to "exterminate Palestinians". Unfortunately, Hamas purposefully safeguards in civilian areas,  making it that so every bombing of a Hamas military target has a massive risk of civilian casualties

That being said I think Israel should have ceased fire a long time ago and that unlimited humanitarian aid into Gaza needs to be an utmost priority which it hasn't been and that is shameful

what are you waffling on about..?

i think you’re forgetting the fact that this is not the first time they’ve killed palestinians

Just to explain a few things:

Gaza is the world's largest open air prison, they really have no government or resources, or anything close to what Isreal has so this situation is not equal in the slightest

The last election Palestinians had was in 2006, and that is how Hamas came into power but they are more like a gang than an actual military group or government

40% of Palestinians are 18 years and younger, so they had no say in this election

Israel was formed on top of Palestine, which stole land from the Palestinians and forced them back and back until they have barely anything now. People are kicked out of their own homes for Israeli settlers to live in, many of them coming from the United States. In their government and law system they are not seen as equal to Israelis and Israel has been killing them and causing them to suffer for 70+ years

So, Palestinians just want to live and they want their land and homes back, while Israel sees them as a threat to their "state's" existence and respond by constantly bombing and killing them. Many countries around the world recognize Israel's occupation of Palestine as illegal as well

These are things I wish they would teach us in school in the US, but the US is also very involved with Israel so :crossed:

the exact oppsite is happening tbh

my sister told me that yesterday her teacher made a joke that went like "don't worry you won't be starving like the kids in gaza"

I love how people only use the "chronically online" "spend too much time on the internet" when we are talking about war and politics that impact lives of millions of innocent peolle, but not when we all spend hours each day discussing one artist over and over.

no fr this isnt a chronically online issue, this is a human rights issue

Damn….some of the comments in this thread about Lana are weird.

im free Palestine every day but you have to realize that Lana cannot end the Illegal occupation by Israel on her own. We cannot make assumptions about why or how she signed it. So many of us have been fans of Lana for over a decade and we know that at her core, she is kind and generous and full of love and selflessness. She really has never given us a reason or acted in a way to think otherwise. Redirect your anger to the right places and let's focus on what really matters.

yeah but you also have to remember that she has thousands of young uneducated fans, she’s doing more harm than good. some find the need to criticise her here as she should be, because she’s not perfect and this was fucking stupid on her behalf. she legit put out a song about hating america a few years ago and now she’s thanking our president for funding the deaths of fucking kids? i do hope her intentions are good but knowing her she can’t keep her mouth shut and will record a 4 minute vlog on why she support israel - and if she does y’all can have an auction on my lana vinyl collection

I obviously don't know what's on her mind but it's hard for me to believe she wouldn't condemn the killing of civilians if she knew the truth. Lana is out of touch, she's always been. Unless she shows true support for Israel, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I don't think she has political or personal reason to do so anyway. It's not too far fetched to think she genuinely believes she's doing the right thing. When you're not informed, it's hard not to believe such massive propaganda.

yeah she’s really out of touch… know your facts or stfu honestly

I think they were using it as a comparison? Still why do we need to compare death toll, it’s absolutely morbid and odd to me- these actions were not justified on any scale- none of this bloodshed is.

you know that’s not what i meant, the deaths on both sides are tragic. but the truth is it’s been worst on the palestinian side for 75 years and those are the facts sorry.

First of all, it's not ISIS but Hamas.

Then, the vile actions of Hamas shouldn't result in the death of thousands of innocent civilians, that have nothing to do with those (especially considering most of the population in Gaza is underage and couldn't vote for Hamas in 2006).

Finally, there was another letter (Artists 4 Ceasefire) that was way more nuanced and definitely hurting for both sides.

Also, I can't believe I'm writing that: encouraging Israel bombings will never be a pro-peace statement.

please not us both saying “first of all its not ISIS” at the same time

Condemning taking babies and elderly captive, raping teenage girls and beheading civilians - is this now controversial?

This is a pro-palestinian pro-peace statement, encouraging looking out for civilians on both sides.

I really can't see how ANY of you, any human being at all, could condemn an ISIS condemnation.

first of all it goes to show how uneducated you are on this situation because ISIS has nothing to do with palestine or hamas. it’s tragic on both sides but this is not a pro-peace, pro-palestine statement, otherwise their entire goal of the statement would be to save those injured children and adults. it doesn’t even mention palestinian victims anywhere. and where is anybody here saying that they condemn “taking babies and elderly captive…”. it’s controversial the fact that most of these celebrities have NEVER stood up for what palestinians had to go through for 75 years, and whether you like it or not the death tolls on the palestinian side are much more tragic. they don’t have the entire US behind their back and funding them. don’t speak if you don’t know shit

as someone who's not involved in news what so ever, why is this bad

“thanking joe biden for his leadership” including is funding for the IDF. no mention of the palestinian victims at all. once again using the fake headline of beheading children. saying “and most urgently, right now freedom of the hostages” WHEN 2055 PALESTINIAN KIDS HAVE BEEN MURDERED IN THE LAST WEEK
