i think The Grants is the perfect single, specially considering its the last one before the record drops. the lyrics, for anyone who has heard it, sum up everything. and by everything i don't mean the record itself, but the story Lana is trying to tell. it's the perfect, most special and magical introduction i could think of for such a beautiful album

"i know my fans were very disappointed with the fact that my album got delayed... so i am very excited to announce that my 10th album Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" will be out TONIGHT, at midnight, once the clock hits saturday march 11th" then Taco Truck starts playing softly. peace has been restored. the universe shines brighter. planets collapse. lanaboards servers collapse for days. stores close down. the US government declares lockdown and forces the global population to stream the album from night to morning. the Ocean Blvd reign has begun.

It's very sad and melancholy, when I first heard it it didn't even sound like Lana. It was like introducing a new voice, which I thought was really cool. That creates a certain disconnect with the image you have of her, a bit like on that last single. On “A&W” it sounds like she doesn't really know where she wants to go, but she knows that very well, better than most artists. It's like she's wearing a new suit.

some of yall be really wild calling A&W a "meh" song when it's a literal milestone in her career. pulling A&W after releasing 3 folky, full of ballads albums is the perfect definition of Lana and this particular era: idgaf, im gonna do what feels right and fun THAT'S THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING AN AMERICAN WHORE
