I work within the Same creative field and I’ve never gotten the scrapping of songs especially if they’re a high quality.. from what I hear it’s mostly label pressure? But you’ve just invested in time and now you want to scrap it even though only 500 devoted fans have heard it likely? And you can still rework it? Dumb

the best option is to do what Miley Cyrus did, ignore it and it worked for her-half of an album leaked a year before :oprah3:

    no because kinda same

  2. Hi, me popping in. As someone who is a creative in the music sector, things can go through multiple changes, reworks or whatever else because a lot of us are perfectionists. Also after the final tracklist has been decided upon and the tracks have been mastered, there's a period which is at least 4 months long of gathering promotional assets for the album (music videos, photoshoots, behind the scenes content, ect.) Also if Melanie is planning to do vinyl as well, there's a fat ass delay on vinyl. Last article I read said that a band were waiting at least 8-10 months due to delays. Additionally you've got to account merch, and CD. If she's doing a film for this album, that too. So for all we know it could be right around the corner with no fault of her own, But some labels are very money hungry in the sense they'll refuse to fund something if they don't see it as profitable or commercially viable. So we just gotta keep waiting tbf, not much else you can do.

Also @ the leakers stop being dicks and leaking tracks from her third album. You're slowing down the album's release, whether you realise it or not. Many artists and labels will scrap songs after they've been leaked

I’ve fully embraced the stripped-ness of COCC and am very intrigued to hear LYTAN if for no other reason than to fill the spot left by removing Yosemite from it

title track is so good. i want a convertible just so i can crash it whilst belting "drag racing my little red sports car"

L+F is one of those albums where the highs kind of make it worth it for me. I really love End of the Earth, Handmade Heaven, Emotional Machine, and Too Afraid and To Be Human are solid tracks as well. So I am glad we got the album at all. However, I honestly can't even remember the last time I listened to most of the songs on that album. It kind of came and went. I haven't listened to the outtakes from that album in a minute, but I do remember feeling like they could've replaced some of the album tracks and made an overall better body of work. ADIAML definitely stepped it up in terms of personal taste. I still consider the title track her second best title track

She should've stayed with the original concept imo, it's so much better than what was released :lmao:

these songs would've saved L+F... the art of letting go would've been such a cute title track too...

i am going to technically agree with all of you and say the entire album should've never existed and marina should've just got her psychology degree and became a psychologist instead of ruining her legacy with L+F and the other one. i love her but its like her knowing more about the human mind made her lose hers and now she cannot make music anymore

WARNING I AM EXAGGERATING PLEASE DONT YELL AT ME IM :)

original 2016-2018 tracks wouldnt have ruined her legacy...it's true :true:

Woah, you guys actually dislike "Ancient Dreams..."? I think it's a fun record. Way better than the previous one. Slightly more in tune with her first albums with a modern twist imho.

"Love + Fear" felt like a Spotify playlist of different artists put together. "Orange Trees" is such a terrible song :toofloppy:

    concept demo is worse

    OOOOO-YEAH YEAH YEAAAAHHHH

There's literally yeah backing vocals but they're the same volume as the leads, so it sounds even worse

They really aren't but there's no topping the first 3 records and L+F was a massive disappointment coming from her, just from a production & visual standpoint; We're used to high-concept electropop/pop-rock bangers with artsy referential visuals, so it was strange to see her adopt a new vibe that felt like it could belong to anybody in pop that year.

Jack had way too much of an effect on her tbh. Look at the photoshoot and a lot of the outtakes have ADIAML-esque poses, I think she was over LF before she even released it tbh, especially with CIAW being produced in 2018

    Spoiler

Also if you listen to a lot of the tracks, they reference him, in more negative ways than positive.

Controversial View? (on here at least)

    ADIAML & L+F aren't bad :hottie:

As LF has aged, I've grown to respect it more, but that might be because I've mentally matured and done a lot of self reflection over the past year or so. But some of the tracks on LF are still terrible

    Spoiler

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORANGE

Also Karma was reproduced to make baby and orange trees sound sonically cohesive to the record (allegedly) so unpopular opinion. Baby should've been replaced by Disconnect on the tracklist as I feel it sounds more cohesive, and I think it could fit very well on fear. So if that allegation is true, Karma would've had a much better version (I hate you for making that Jack) and Orange Trees would've probably been an outtake, and it should've been that way!
