I think I can say very confidently that the metaphorical fig she chose is that of her family. That of spending time and creating memories with loved ones. That of being a great aunt, sister, daughter. I think that seems to be what this album may be about especially after hearing The Grants. I think she started this direction of questioning life paths during Violet / COTCC era. It’s reminiscent of “No, i’ll let the others do the pondering, and while they do i’ll be on my lawn.” and “in that moment, i decided to do nothing about everything.” from the titular poem. I think this is good evidence of a step away from the grandeur and a step into the simpler life. A family life and the mundane of every day. I think COTCC flirted with these ideas and asked lots of questions — but this is the decision— the statement record if you will about this “fig.”

The Grants

Any guesses as to first day streams? I’m guessing 780,000 for Tuesday release day. Partial day streams. -
I think that there is an extremely touching aspect of this song revolving around themes of existence, death and grieving, and the human fear/anticipation of legacy. Big cry vibes for me. And i don’t cry to music like ever. (the only lana song i’ve cried to is Wild At Heart [don’t ask why 😭]) I think the album will continue to convey these complex questions. We don’t give her enough credit for the fact that it is extremely difficult to write about these topics without sounding cheesy — but of course she másters through it as the greatest writer of our generation imo

Rank Lana's Opening Tracks
hotfirehotweatherhotcoffee replied to WaitForLife's topic in Lana Thoughts
1. NFR 2. Honeymoon 3. White Dress 4. Ride 5. Cruel World 6. Text Book 7. Born to Die 8. The Grants 9. Love 3-8 were all pretty close and could change based on my mood. I must say I really love The Grants, especially how crisp the vocals are and how moving it feels. I can see it shooting up to 5/6 as it ages. -
100% blind prediction: 1. Taco Truck 2. A&W 3. Fishtails 4. Kintsugi 5. Candy Necklace 6. Peppers 7. Grandfather 8. Paris, Texas 9. DYKTTATUOB 10. The Grants 11. Fingertips 12. LTTI 13. Sweet 14. Margaret 15. Interludes

What’re your guesses on which songs will have playlist push on Spotify. For example, for BB, IYLDWM was the song they pushed on “new music friday” and several others. I think that was a great disservice for the success of BB. Imagine if Dealer, the viral hit, was pushed to playlists. My guess is that Sweet or Candy Necklace will get playlist push? The guess comes from the fact that Candy Necklace seems to have some hype after the teaser and these are the 2 tracks earlier in the album that won’t be out yet by the release. What’re your guesses?

hi all im new here after years of browsing. i cannot contain myself for the album— the hype and rollout just feel so much more put together than previous records. for me, the most important aspect of her records is her writing and i just feel something in the water that this will be her lyrical magnum opus
