  1. I am mostly very pleased. I feel like if Coachella, GL, Change and WTWWAW were omitted, it would have been perfect. Coachella is just messy, GL is forgettable but might have made more sense at least as a filler if A$AP's verse wasn't there (I love him on SB), and the other two are simply filler for me, they evoke very little and I get impatient listening to them, especially WTWWAW which doesn't seem to have any melody or direction at all. I was also somewhat disappointed by BPBP, I feel like the chorus was weak and more than a little cheesy, even for Lana's more self-indulgent moments (don't get me wrong, I am more than happy to facilitate those lol), saved by the joint harmonies just before the second chorus (when they sing about a sugar rush), that moment is magical and I thinkcould have been exploited even more throughout the track particularly given the monotone nature of the chorus. Okay, now that we've got that out of the way, the high points. 13 Beaches and Get Free are STUNNING. I audibly gasped listening to them. I am transported every time I listen to them. The bridge of In My Feelings is possibly my favourite moment on the record, when she goes way high and is almost incomprehensible in what she's singing, she truly sounds as though she is getting lost in the act of singing, she is in total abandon. There is a reinvigorated sense of attitude on her part throughout all the record, even on the low points. She's rarely sounded this confident, and is in full swing. God Bless America and the second half of White Mustang sound like William Orbit productions, which is basically the sound I have always waned to hear from her, if she were to ever collab with him I would spontaneously combust. That breezy electronica infused with trip-hop just does things to me. TNC is gorgeous. Heroin is my least favourite of the high points simply because it is so monotone, and when you compare it with the experiments with ad-libbing and harmonising on her part throughout the rest of the record it just leaves me wanting more. Overall, it's a really good album, not my favourite of hers, but there were parts that seem indicative of her next direction that I look forward to seeing being expanded. I want to see her do more with these old-style pop chord progressions. there is only one bad song on it, which is Coachella, the other three fillers are perfectly acceptable, I just wouldn't listen to or engage with them on any level near the others. I'd be more comprehensive with my review but it's less of a review than it is an initial reaction upon several listens.
  2. I think Groupie Love, Coachella, WTWWAW and either Change or BPBP could have been omitted, then it would been perfect - having said that, there are still aspects of each of these tracks I do love, I just think they're a little clunky compared to how high the highs of this album are. Sonically it's the most layered music she's ever done, and she experiments with harmonies, her range and ad-libs beautifully. I can't really rank her albums hierarchally because I think each one is its own entity entirely. 13 Beaches and Get Free are both MASTERPIECES. I'm very happy with this album, I audibly gasped to these tracks. Well done Lana. You just get better. And I still have the HQ to look forward to <3
  3. anyone wanna pm me a link to a Honeymoon download? ....yes....Honeymoon download?
  4. twitter is the least reliable initial source for a leak :')
  5. I think "into the rose garden" is perfect, I think she did a good job of paraphrasing the poem, but yes, I would have loved for her to have taken it further - or even a full album of just her reading! I love her reading voice.
  6. Listening to Burnt Norton on repeat, it's so soothing. I would love a full reading of the original TS Eliot quartet with this production. I wonder if one was ever done.
  7. spoiler alert: you can love both Lana and her work and still be multi-facetedly critical of the political and cultural dynamics/connotations she and it can sometimes exploit (for better or for worse and for different purposes and contexts)
  8. :') it's okay sweetie, one can have complex feelings about Lana and her work and still be a stan, there there
  9. I mean, she arguably glamorises it in her songs...
  10. I'm literally hopping across four forums including my most reliable one for leaks and there's nothing tangible and and and -single tear- but hey maybe she'll finally experience an unleaked album release
