The Marías  "Superclean Vol. II" EP is out now. It is gorgeous! Sorry if there was a previous The Marías but I didn't find a thread about them.

 

 

This was their first volume

 

 

 

I love the entirety of the 2nd volume in my opinion, in contrast to the 1st volume had more standout tracks but a few bores for me.

Their debut album is so good. I’ve listened to it so many times and it’s already one of my top favorite releases for this year

The album is nice but I feel like they played it WAY too safe. 

 

Both of the Superclean EPs and the standalone singles lived from this atmospheric blend between dreamy bedroom pop, summery vibes, jazzy instrumentation and classic dance rhythms.  

All of the tunes on CINEMA are pretty solid altpop but there is nothing innovative, nothing you hadn't heard before. The first half of the record is extremely same-ish aswell.

 

The most intriguing parts are the instrumental interludes and I'm really sad they did not carry that energy into the "main" songs. 

 

It's a nice album to listen to in the background but not as interesting as any of their former work.

Okay, so this band was my 2nd most listened artist, Lana being the top of course 

Superclean is one of the few albums where I love every single song in it, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon being one of those albums. For some reason my Lana stan friends can't seem to like their music although I think they go hand in hand with Lana's sound and vibe. 

Cinema is still a very good album and slightly weaker than Superclean but still the album that marked my summertime. 

My only frustration is that it's soooo hard to find Superclean sold by its original price with cheap shipping, not sold on eBay for 10x more, while Cinema is much easier to find. I don't understand why they don't release more copies since they sell out so quickly. I really want both copies.
