I feel bad for Lana though. I do think the song has a reference to the suicide. Why the 'H' of all letters? What's the significance other than the suicide?

It's not bad to talk about suicide, and I don't think singing about it glamorises it either.

I think she actually took inspiration from Eden Ahbez for the "living in the Hollywood sign" thing. She knows who he was, she's used his songs for the Honeymoon Interlude and the Prelude to her shows. From Wikipedia :
