National Anthem 9,902 Posted February 7, 2017 Electropop trio; Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson, based in Los Angeles formed MUNA in 2013. Their debut album About U just dropped and it is nothing short of absolutely flawless. These girls together make one of the most promising new bands I've heard in a long time. Everyone needs to get into this. I beg.

Sitar 22,207 Posted February 9, 2017 could you? i'd love to analyze each track here and search for rarities together.... it's definitely AOTY so far. I'm just so impressed by the layers of production throughout, its very crisp and commercial but still interesting. There are so many little highlights in each song. After hearing their EP I was down for them as another '80s sounding act but the album left me pleasantly surprised in how fresh it is. And that's not even to talk about their lyrical content! Winterbreak, If U Love Me Now, Around U, Everything, a lot of the album goes for the same "sad love song" theme pretty consistently--very Pop Album--but I feel like each of these songs finds a unique and clever and intimate way of expressing themselves. Music, lyrics, talent, VOCALS, they definitely give me everything I need to distinguish some casual listening from a stan worthy act. I would cry at some rarities, are they on a major label?

I agree with everything you said. The more I listen the more the deep cuts begin to become just as great as the singles/EP tracks. "Around U" is particularly amazing to me right now. "I Know a Place" is constantly on loop in my head, it could end up being on my 2017 year-end list very high up... Somehow every song is just so relatable for me? Katie's lyrics are really honest and beautiful. "If U Love Me Now" is one of my favorites too. What a freaking cool ballad. anyway- i am going to continue digging, but I'm pretty sure other than About U, this is the only other project the girls have done together as MUNA. I finally found all the files in their original quality @@Nick: more perfect - EP (2014) http://picosong.com/rpBL http://picosong.com/rpB9 http://picosong.com/rpBy http://picosong.com/rpBR http://picosong.com/rpK7 EDIT: okay i found UPDATE a bunch of Katie's solo music and some SUPER old pics. i'm gonna stop digging though, i really only care for MUNA material since that's where the magic is.
