  1. Yes!!! It's the absolute obliteration of Lolita as a person! I've been reading "Monsters" by Claire Dederer and it has a chapter about this- how Lolita (the novel) being written as it is serves a function to communicate the total destruction of a human being, we never see her as anything but a concept or object through Humbert's eyes. I think Lana definitely captures that feeling in the song, especially that sinking feeling with the strings. It hits me in the gut every time. It's so interesting!
  2. THAT'S what it is!!!! I had struggled to put words to the concept in my head, phrasing and vocal shifts are the words I needed. Thank you!
  3. lana bluebird psychedelia would fix something in me i think
  4. I'm really excited to hear it in the context of the album. I 100% agree that last "hey" feels like a lead into something else!
  5. I really loved this novel from her! It was the third (my first two being Castle & The Haunting of Hill House). I was diagnosed with DID a few years before I began reading her books, and The Bird's Nest was one I was anxious about but ended up absolutely loving. She writes it so well! I love the ambience of dread she creates in her works, and all the little ways she makes it different for each part of Elizabeth. The ending had me chilled for weeks after!
  6. wait yes omg that would make a lot of sense if she can get the vinyls w/ the new title on time
  7. i would love a height of summer drop, especially for a country album. i want to listen in the sunshine in the garden!!! june or july would make sense if its not a huge delay
  8. omg i hadn't made that connection yet
  9. I could definitely see this cover next to Henry, come on in the album! They're both going in the same playlist for me anyway, so beautiful
  10. Her face when she said yall know its not gonna come on time I'm glad she's taking her time though and not rushing things through!
  11. I really love the production, its so lush and combined with the softness of her voice its so divine! I really wasn't sure what to expect but I'm finding I'm falling in love with this song more each listen. The lyrics too, especially the chorus. So good!
