Yeah but she’s never really been seen as a true pop girl- even during the BTD era there was always a clash between critics applying the indie/alternative label and the pop one but I think this lead to even more hatred.

So not only do they generally not have reviews for a lot of my favourite albums - Portishead's self titled, anything by Melanie De Biasio or Elysian Fields, most of Lamb's discography, Agnes Obel's Aventine, Archive's Londinium, The Magnificent Tree by Hooverphonic, ... -    they also rate them like sh*t.

I actually do not like ray of light tbh-I respect madonna and there is some great output there like prince but the albums I can listen to all the way are bedtime stories and Like a virgin-I just never got the hype with that record although frozen is cute and nothing really matters is a good house track along with ray of light-theres just other albums which did what this record did years prior-I think pitchfork was fair here.
