As a cis person it’s so easy for me to say “just ignore these freaks” but the reality is it’s already stigmatized enough to be a trans person and now there’s the added burden laws designed to hurt trans people. 
 

At this point it’s literally an act of defiance just simply existing as a trans person. Hopefully Lanaboards can be a safe place for you guys since it’s gonna be tough for the next however many years

I feel weird caring so much when I’m not even American but I feel like this is a pretty international struggle at this point (obviously not to the same degree but god knows what trumps gonna do)

 

it also feels weird seeing all this insanely messed up stuff like the nazi salut, leaving WHO etc and we literally can’t do anything about it besides protest but what’s that gonna do? It’s gonna take everything in me to wait for Kamala in 2028

I briefly mentioned this earlier in the thread - I’m glad mainstream media is picking up on it because I was worried it was going to get buried.

those that are trans, i'm so sorry you're going to have to live through this. but hey, look at the bright side. call yourself the gender that you identify with and don't add the "trans" part. they want people to be binary, okay then, it's game. as much as i hate the term "trans women are women" because i feel it disvalues the struggles of trans women AND cis women (in both, modern and historic struggles, and conflates both issues), trans women are now just women in the US   same with trans men. just be men or women, as dictator trump says.

yep this is the take. because he is a 53 year old man, he’s not a child. he knows what he did and if he was normal he would immediately come out and address it, but he didn’t. with the added context of him reposting outwardly anti-Semitic posts on X, he is most likely just a straight up nazi, at least, someone who aligns ideologically with fascism

Thank you for this clarity. The “it’s his autism” excuse is circulating in right-leaning spaces, and it’s ridiculous for the aforementioned reasons. He clearly did the salute, turned around, and DID IT AGAIN. He’s not going to stand up on the stage and say “Hi, I am a Nazi”…and even then, some people would still be in denial. He’s openly supported the AfD (alt right group in Germany, please look them up), his grandparents were members of the Nazi party in Canada and moved to South Africa because they were “very fanatical, in favor of apartheid.” The info about Musk’s maternal grandparents and the quote came from Musk’s dad via a podcast interview. We cannot blame individuals for the ills of their family, but it’s important context when talking about his actions yesterday.

Why do they wait like 2 and a half months to put on a big ceremony in America to change the president anyway? seems dodgy to me actually because then they start doing all kind of things they wouldn't have done before cause they lost and then they pardon all their family and whoever they want - things they would never have done before.

In the UK I don't think anything even happens, we wake up the next day and I think the new person is just in the job.

He 100% knew what he was doing, he probably thought it was funny and wanted to do it on stage just to amuse himself or maybe he even had a bet with people he would do it.
