  1. Do we really think we're getting a music video for Lust for Life? The music video for Love came out 2 days after the official audioffer, I thought we wouldve gotten it already. Now I don't really think we're getting one for LFL. :l

I would think so - LFL is the title track (although HM video never got officially released so I guess it's possible)

I think Love MV was only so soon after because it leaked :(

  2. I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion.. more like a Lana-based confession.

I don't listen to Ride very often. Why? Because I find it too beautiful. It's the instrumentation and the lyrics-- it's melancholy, raw, and I always think back to the Ride MV which is breathtaking in itself. The monologue is, well, a masterpiece. I wish it was its own track. Ride is a heavy song.. that's why I've gotta listen to it selectively. In turn, Ride always sounds fresh. But I'm pretty sure Ride will always be a timeless Lana song.  :$

i feel the same about Love tbh - I don't wanna listen to it too much, I feel like its a song which should be saved for the right moments

(idk this might also not be an unpopular opinion but judging by the recent polls I thought on the whole Love wasnt as well received as most other songs)

  3. tbh video games will always be number 1 for me - its the song that made me stan Lana and since I have still never heard a song that makes me feel like I do when I listen to VG

I actually love all of the lead singles, but its gonna take something extra special to beat Video Games

  4. I definitely think this is true. I don't think Lana is alive anymore (or able, but if she's playing Peg, which would make sense with the retro themes, although it's technically the wrong era she's mimicking by about 30 years haha). What we saw in the lyric video was a memory. I think the actual video will reveal more

I hope the video loves up to Love - if it does it could take LFL to the next level!

  5. https://genius.com/a/how-lana-del-rey-s-lust-for-life-connects-to-an-infamous-hollywood-suicide

I didn't payed attention to the story but after reading this I see the lyrics on LFL in a different light

The way that she's a ghost in the trailer. That she's in color and everything else is in bw, including Abel. The retro dress and those strange gloves.

    "Climb up the H

    Of the Hollywood sign, yeah

    In these stolen moments

The world is mine (do it, do it)

    There’s nobody here

Just us together (shut up, shut up)"

    Chills...

Then, we dance on the H

    Of the Hollywood sign, yeah

‘Til we run out of breath

    Gotta dance 'til we die

    Chills...

'Cause we're the masters of our own fate

We're the captains of our own souls

There's no way for us to come away

    Chills...

They say only the good die young

    That just ain't right

There are to many references to this story. That cannot be just coincidence. Someone call Pitchfork...

wait so Lana could be a ghost in the song/video? And Abel alive?

Maybe Lana is playing Peg Entwistle with the retro dressing style? Lana has found her list for life so has returned to be with her boyfriend (Abel) who is still alive?

I guess with 'stolen moments' this could tie in - they are not meant to be together but she has come back to be with Abel?

Only the good die young could also refer to Peg Entwistle - and because it aint right she has returned?

If I am understanding what you're saying here, this is either overanalysing at its finest or pure genius tbh - is this the kind of thing you meant?

Maybe the story of Peg Entwistle inspired LFL (song) - she may have identified with her in the past (quick rise to fame, feeling depressed), but now she's got a different perspective it could be what Lana imagines could have happened if Peg regretted it and wanted to come back?

  6. Would this, perhaps, be the song to push Del Rey out of the “indie” pop designation for good, toward a more Gaga-esque style of mainstream ubiquity?

Nope nope nope don't get me started on this point - I don't see why they think it's bad not to be mainstream

Anyone who’s turned on a radio in the past two years knows Tesfaye’s voice by now, but from its first lines, “Lust for Life” is a Lana Del Rey song through and through.

Anyone who's turned on the radio sounds so condescending - like it's wrong to listen to radio. Oh yes, and IT'S MEANT TO BE AN LDR SONG THROUGH AND THROUGH BECAUSE IT IS.

The image is fantastic and a little ridiculous (about climbing up the H)

Do they know it's meant to be a metaphor and not actually climbing up the H?

it feels like a playground for Del Rey’s stylistic idiosyncrasies.

And why is this a bad thing?? Even if they had listened to other LDR songs they would know how much variety she can put into her songs.

(It's so) LDR it’s almost a shame someone else invented them.

Although I would have preferred Lana alone, this song wouldn't work without the Weeknd.

You don’t care that rhyming “lust for life” with “keeps us alive” is fundamentally never going to work.

To me it works - yeah they don't rhyme but it still sounds A.MAZ.ING.

I still prefer first single “Love” for its “Ride”-style subtlety, but who knows—maybe this one goes to radio.

okay Love sounds nothing like Ride or is that just me? And Love has had a lot of radio play and they seem to think it hasn't??

Yikes I have lost all respect for Spin.

  7. Spotify made a This Is Lana Del Rey playlist! I always notice that they make these for big artists around the time they release new music, like how they did for Ed Sheeran, Drake, Lorde, Bruno Mars, etc.

    jlsmc.png

I think they do it for all artists - they've done it for Marina & the Diamonds and Grimes, and they aren't releasing anything for a while  :(

Edit: omg have you seen the description for that playlist??

What she does, she does best...

YAAAAAS well played whoever wrote this at spotify  :gclap:

  8. Each day I wake up I love it even more!

At first with the take off your clothes line, it was one of the only things that disappointed me - when Lana first said the initial 'take off, take off' I thought it was gonna have LIB or Paris vibes and be like 'Take off, take off - to a better place' and then I realised it was 'all your clothes'  :um3:

The more I listen now though, the more I am liking that line and the more its fits in (although I still would prefer 'to a better place' but never mind!
