like, "Born To Live" and "Witches Song" is obviously where comparisons could be made, but i can easily see Lana sliding into tracks like "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" & "No Moon In Paris" it got me thinking, we've seen her inspirations when she's in NY, Southwest, LA, London i'd love to hear a record if she were to spend time in Italy & France...if it'd be modern night-jazz or something more along the lines of 'Salvatore'. it could be heavily stylized n romantic, with an overarching nocturnal yes warm tone -

there's this one singer Marianne Faithfull- idk her n she's older n v ballad heavy but i jus saw a song preview that seemed intriguing, n the tracklist for her upcoming album seems like something Lana herself would have for this record or something into the far future..lowkey this is the song/style I see her making years from now, lyricism and all Negative Capability 01 “Misunderstanding” 02 “The Gypsy Faerie Queen” 03 “As Tears Go By” 04 “In My Own Particular Way” 05 “Born To Live” 06 “Witches Song” 07 “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” 08 “They Come At Night” 09 “Don’t Go” 10 “No Moon In Paris” 11 “Loneliest Person” "And wears a crown of Rowan berries on her brow And I follow, follow, follow The gypsy faerie queen We exist, exist, exist In the twilight in-between She bears a blackthorn staff To help her in her walking I only listen to her sing But I never hear her talking Anymore Though once she did Though once she did" -

I'd hope the Grammys wouldn't have to stoop to affirmative action, it's so pathetic how they've gone from being hard to get acclaimed rewards (to my knowledge) to then giving the most mediocre and basic artists grammys based on sales/fad fame- snubbing women and PoC..only to now have to (seemingly, to many viewers it'll be seen as such) push for PoC & Women to win more awards they SHOULD'VE been winning; only to make them seem more diverse and woke -

the systemic dimensions of math and listening times are too profound for me whew i am a dumbass i honestly think i thought vb was 1hr long a track..gosh the title being an absolute mess just makes it so mysterious...is it horrific or is it a potential top20 of her discography...with such a title what is the lyrical content? even if the theme is basic (for lana) "answering machine" implies the lyrical choices are something she hasn't used in a while, like forcibly retro...her mind, a maze -

This is absolutely true...albeit we don't see LfL as a huge record, it was insanely big for her career in terms of the acclaim it got- especially for being in her 30s (an agist curse for musicians in the modern age it seems) AND it being ~7yrs into her career. Like fuck not even BtD got a grammy nomination...but LfL did. It even gave her another 100mil video which i don't think there's been one since pre-UV? I could be wrong but to try and say things that infer Lana hasn't done anything is so fucking stupid and ignorant 100mil view video, headlining festivals, plethora of magazine shoots, she basically shut down Brazil by herself alone, iirc people at Camp Flog Gnaw said her show was the most hyped with many people being there solely for her, a fucking grammy nomination, she won the ASCAP songwriters award, one of her most critically acclaimed albums, like fuck.. on top of that so many artists selling more than her would still kill to be her, she doesn't have chart acclaim but she has one of, if not the most dedicated fanbases- this isn't even to mention how highly she's respected within the industry. You can quite literally not find any other artist in the world right now (that isn't a "new" artist) that is loved by every artist from Stevie to Courtney to Lou Reed to Kanye to Taylor, Lorde, fucking Adele, Leonard Cohen's estate...I can't think of a single musician that isn't influenced or doesn't have at least some respect for her all that in those pink jelly shoes and levi's it's so fucking perfect and complex and her label wanted a 3 minute pop record with 2 verses, 3 choruses, and a bridge huh I had this as my lockscreen for a good 6-7months, it invokes such a raw feeling of isolation and sadness, it looks straight out of some rundown 60s apartment, but it's from the late 2000s..just wow This. This is one of my favorite lyrics she's ever written, it's so simple but the melody is incredible and the diamonds calls back to Lana's glamorous early direction with high stakes high love ideologies from BtD n HM; whereas the crimson & clover is not only a reference to a vintage song, but comes across to her more earthy raw side we got with UV and 1/2 of LfL fuck i want it tattooed onto my brain -
I'd rather Lana make a cameo, either with Stevie as some witch higher up with little to no lines besides singing or some Jazz singer at a bar scene that's either a witness or a victim to a murder but idk if 2018 Lana would ever slide into a jazzy singer role like she could've BtD/PD

Imo it reminds me of older songs like Elvis or Mississippi South- they don't have much cohesion but the story telling and emotional appeal is insanely potent- it's both incredibly awkward but melds together and fits her entire vintage schtick; it reminds me of older songs that make 0 sense whatsoever because the writers were quite literally too high to care "Platinum and vale acrylics Skim the paper for the critics Babys breathin' Elvis lyrics On the cover bar Late in motel lounges singin' Spotlight on the band is swingin' Chateau Marmont memories fading Hope is very far" "It's the voodoo, mississippi south 69 million stars Birds are flying out of my mouth Spirits creeping in my yard - Hold my head, it's tilting back Something dancing me around Putting crystals on my neck Lifting my feet off the ground" "Ridin' around town, blue and leather Walkin' down the streets like the Queen of Hearts" ---- "Blinded By the Light" "Blinded by the lightRevved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the lightRevved up like a deuce Madman drummers bummersIndians in the summer With a teenage diplomat In the dumps with the mumps As the adolescent pumps His way into his hat With a boulder on my shoulder Feelin' kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round"

this is the face she makes when saying the title out loud -
i have a small theory she'll end the album off with either this track or the lyrics "Signing off, bang bang kiss kiss"- since she used Venice Bitch in MAC, Norman Rockwell in Venice Bitch, Norman Rockwell is gonna have connected lyrics to a special track- like the most introspective & special songs will be lyrically linked y*semite within mac please bitch

Iirc he's a painter, one that painted Americana things n showed them in layered lights the song itself is about a musician whose narcissistic in nature & is full of himself i could be wrong on the first half but i'm more than right on the second -
