  1. can someone PLEEEEEASE upload a zip of all her stuff???? i have the three albums but her other tracks (unreleased, covers etc) are rlly hard to find. i with luv u till the end of time if you do thanksssss

  2. Relationship-wise, I don't really relate to her. I like to think that I am a strong person in terms of love, whereas Lana is quite clearly very dependent on others (Without You etc). I can relate to songs like PWYC about being neglected, but not in terms of drugs.

I can, however, relate to songs that glamorise and celebrate America/American ideals - I think that I share the same fascination with America that LANs does in songs such as Trash Magic.

Basically, I don't usually relate to whole songs of hers, really - mostly just a few lines from certain songs.

  3. The girls have done another cover! This time it's of Daft Punk's 'Instant Crush'. You can download it for free here by signing up to the official Say Lou Lou newsletter. Alternatively, you can just give it a listen below:

  4. Not sure if this a unpopular opinion, but I really wish she said 'fuck you' instead of 'damn you' in DY. She seems so angry in that song that she needs to say something stronger - even 'screw you' would be better than 'damn', which is too weak imo given the tone of the rest of the song.

(ps sorry for the double post)

  5. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Guns and Roses really grew on me :hdu: I know I said terrible things about it but the melody, the verses and the bridge make up for the shitty chorus...

I've never agreed with a post so much! SO many people dismiss the song for it's mediocre chorus lyrics, but everything else about the song is so terrific! The verses' & bridge's lyrics, the way Lana sings, the humming at the start, the melody, the motorcycle noises...:grinds:

  6. I dont know if this an unpopular opinon tbh.For all BTD flaws (Over production/Heavy use of certain samples) I believe imo that its better emotionally - range wise that is- than UV.

The way I look at it is that BTD/PD is the sun with the odd solar flare and sunspot (Bright but dangerous) whilst UV is like this massive black hole full of feels.

Sorry if that didn't make it any sense but its how I interpreted them.

I totally agree with you! Born to Die mostly hints at bad experiences ('they would rue the day I was alone without you', Dark Paradise & Summertime Sadness et al), but has pretty 'positive' i-really-love-you-forever vibes. Ultraviolence is as she said it would be - darker and way more melancholic than Born to Die. It's so ironic that she starts Fucked My Way with 'life is awesome, I confess' - practically the whole album is about how shit she is treated by her boyfriend(s)/media/others. As you said, Born to Die & Paradise are suns with occasional clouds, whereas Ultraviolence is a full-blown eclipse.

  7. I really love Diet Mountain Dew (album version). The lyrics of the first demo (hit me my darling tonight...) are far superior, but the production of this version is really nice. It's a great song and it's far too often dismissed as simple fluff.

  8. The bridge of Guns and Roses always gives me goosebumps.

"I can feel it coming in the air tonight

See you working on that Blue Pacific

I can see you bathing in the summer light

You turn to tan and you look terrific"

The lines sound more like they're from poetry than from a song; the imagery is just so strong and clear. The way she delivers it is heavenly too.

  9. i known I already said how much I love this song but GOD DAMN it's like the ultimate Lana song. a celebration of Americana with a dash of relationship issues coupled with a shirt-tuggingly-desperate-don't-leave-me longing. it completely sums up Lana's whole image in a few minutes. LOVE IT

  10. If we know that there's a final version of Motel 6 does it make the version we have a demo?

Personally, I think it's more like Big Bad Wolf in terms of demos - two versions exist but neither of them are exactly 'demos', just the common one and the alternative one. I think the 'final' version of Motel 6 is just an alternative version to the one we already have, whilst the acapella one is the 'demo'.
