I think they have injected Lana into there work in some way.  Look at the album cover for 1989 very Born To die, and wildest dreams is practically a Lana song. Their may be differences but it’s hard to ignore how influenced they’ve been by Lana.

she does use a similar melody for the beginning of the chorus and she does sing about a glamorous relationship with a guy but imo it’s not a Lana song at all, it is much more taylor than it is lana. i agree there are influences of Lana’s work sometimes, notably in wildest dreams, but i think it can hardly be said that they ever copied her

  2. neither Billie nor Taylor ever copied Lana though :eartha2: the closest thing Taylor has put out to a Lana record would be folklore/evermore, which are still only vaguely akin to Lana's work in terms of lyrics, melodies, production, in terms of pretty much everything. to be honest i don't think a single lyric from Taylor or Billie could ever really be identified as Lana's. the three of them have very distinct ways of writing and deliver very different vocals. Lana has had a major impact on music, but that doesn't mean that any female artist who makes alternative music is mechanically copying her.

I wish BOZ didn't spoil about A&W being a 2-part song, imagine listening to the song for the first time, and there's an unexpected switch.. :trisha:

i hope this doesn’t sound unpleasant but when insiders give information, or when lana posts snippets, it is bound to spoil something because it lessens the impact the songs have upon first listen. i agree that some things spoil the surprise or the impact more than others, but any piece of information does spoil something, and i think it’s a bit sad that we need new information to drop on a regular basis to be excited. maybe knowing the album is coming and is going to be good should be enough to be excited, or maybe we shouldn’t even deem it desirable to be excited for the whole pre-release era as it’s so long this time around, and constantly being excited means thinking about it constantly, which somehow hinders serenity. in my opinion, knowing that the album is going to floor us, the way to go might be not to ask for information from insiders, or not to pay too much attention to it if they spill. time flies by when you don’t think of the thing you’re waiting for that much, and it’s actually something that’s made possible by the fact that Lana herself doesn’t talk about it or make promotion. i personally view the lack of news as an opportunity to not think about it too much and to not know too much about it until it arrives :wowcry: and of course i include myself, i also catch myself looking for news and lurking here more often that i probably should, but i’m really convinced that it’s healthier not to wish for new information every week, and that it’s all for the better as the album is going to be fresh and surprising upon first listen :ma:

Me when I haven’t listened to any snippets besides the Candy Necklace snippet posted by Lana a few months ago :oopna2: saving for the release ! (my personal preference)

the way i have listened to neither the title track nor the snippet of candy necklace :godlaugh: i can’t  say it’s easy but i believe i’ve gone too far to give up on the idea of listening to that album for the first time in its entirety

That’s totally fair! Though I will say - the beauty of being an artist who had their come-up in the 2010s means that there is so much room to make your own rules in terms of things like touring and promotion. I think Lana has done everything she’s had to do by her rules and standards, but you’re so right that so many artists tour more extensively—but then again, different avenues that different artists nurture. Lana has made more albums than most of her peers who tour more than her, so it’s all about what the musician wants! Sorry to hear you didn’t get to see her as much as you wanted :(

That is very true! She has made a lot more albums thanks to the time and space she got from not touring that much. :wowcry: Anyway she makes the final decision about that balance between touring and recording. I still hope to see her live one day though because I have literally devoted 11 years of my life to her music :bebe:

I don’t think she will do a traditional tour ever again, just because she doesn’t have to. The lifestyle when on tour probably takes a mental and physical toll on any artist, and it’s clear that Lana really loves being at home and in a bit of a routine—she is a Cancerian queen after all and we love our home life lol. Tours and long periods of travel in general feel like a disruption to the serenity and balance of everyday life. After 8+ years of touring, she’s kind of done everything she has had to do in terms of tours - but that’s not to say there won’t ever be some live performances!!

I agree with your analysis and don't think she's going to do a traditional tour in the near future, but I honestly don't think it's fair to say she's done everything she had to do. Not that she has to tour per se, but in my opinion, she hasn't done what it is reasonable to expect from an artist who tours from the moment they tour. I live in France and in the past eight years, she has been there once in 2016, once in 2017, and that's it. And it was at festivals so it was super expensive, then she cancelled the 2020 show for the reasons we know. At least she did come to my country, even though I was too young to see her alone and I couldn't afford it anyway; but she never went to Asia or Africa. Still, she really hasn't been a lot in Europe, considering how popular she is here. I agree that it is quite a challenge to tour and that it is understandable that she doesn't want to do it anymore (even though it's probably a lot less challenging for her than for artists who put an emphasis on dancing, visuals, etc), but I don't think her track record with touring when she was touring has been really satisfactory :eartha2: Then again, not every artist has to tour, but from the moment they do, there is bound to be some expectations based on what the average artist who tours does, and I don't feel like she has really met them in the past eight years. And even though touring is tiring, maybe that shouldn't prevail over all the other factors, as touring is a way to brighten the lives of millions of fans, because of how important she is to us, so I really wish she did tour again, even though I agree it's not realistic to expect her to.

  7. I’m so glad I still haven’t listened to the single :trisha: with every new album cycle i’ve gained more self-control, from listening to the incredibly low quality honeymoon leak, to listening to the snippets for lust for life and nfr but not to low quality leaks, to refraining from listening to anything but the singles for blue banisters, to refraining from listening to the singles. i’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time now and it’s probably easier this era than it usually is, as the pre-release is short and there are no recycled songs, almost no snippets, probably just one or two singles and most importantly no delay :ma:

  8. also on lanapedia i think Crazy for You should be removed from “Unleaked songs” as we got a demo which is already quite elaborate, we don’t have the final for Hollywood’s Dead either but it’s not under “Unleaked songs”, rather until “Unleaked versions”, and i think it should be the same for Crazy for You

  13. it's a bit unpuzzling to see so many things get debunked... i can't remember who told us dark city was from the uv sessions, but that's erroneous too, it's hard to know what's true anymore. but at the end of the day, what matters is not the information, it is the music we got and get to hear, and we did get three excellent leaks 10 days ago, and warren's mixes are still really good and i'm actually satisfied with them. rough though they are, they are also subtle and graceful, and i love elements like the bagpipes or the synths even though they might not have been there on the actual mix :justride:
