  1. @American Whore This is not a “hive mind” or “group think” situation where people are blindly following an opinion that’s popular for the sake of social capital or maintaining a status quo…given the history of the state of Israel and its violent occupation of Gaza, there is a genocide going on and people are naturally going to be outspoken against that. It’s not uncritical to be critical of Israel, in fact, we’ve seen that the “hive mind” or “safer” stance in terms of maintaining the status quo is to support the oppressor - case in point, look at how many people have lost their careers simply for refusing to support a genocide. Normal people, at that. And nobody is endorsing anti-Semitism by supporting Palestine, the two are not mutually exclusive at all. To play contrarian in the face of people’s and children’s lives lost is beyond reductive, and these innocent civilians do not represent whatever “anti-LGBTQ” sentiments you’re talking about. People are not their governments - you could say the exact same thing about the US.

There’s no point in anyone even engaging with some of the points you’ve made if your mind is made up but I hope people’s responses to you make you think twice about doubling down.

    Possible new song alert?

I'm not sure what this could mean, but I was looking on ASCAP and I saw a new song called "Fly Away" was registered which says was written by Lana, Quavo, Lenny Kravitz and others...

Upon some further research I saw Quavo performed this live a couple months ago but... why is Lana on this too? Unless they recorded a studio cover together?

Quavo - Fly Away (Ft. Lana Del Rey) incoming?

    https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/924247655

Oh wow, what a find! Could it be that they sampled Lenny’s song for their own song with the same name?

  3. I still think it’s coming but her “hesitance” to that question was more so about how her speaking about it at this point, now that everyone’s doing country, would not be as novel - of course, I’m inferring this based on her subsequent comment about how three major artists announced country albums. So I think that doesn’t necessarily mean anything about the album, just that she perhaps wants to let it speak for itself since it’s kind of on trend in a way - but it’s Lana, so it’s still going to be fully her. And obviously anything she says about an album is novel, so we’re perched regardless!

It's an imaginary (AI) song for Lasso. Honestly, if this was a lead single (with better vocals from Lana), I wouldn't mind this direction at all.

It's giving Tarantino, it's giving Kacey Musgraves, Nancy Sinatra, and it's fabulous.

Omg the Internet really ate up my ten-minute album cover…I keep seeing it on YouTube and Twitter especially. :really:

it’s weird that the bikes will be there and not Wally (who I assume is like the coordinator for all that) :bebe:

Yeah, I wonder what happened with Wally…I know people were saying he got the ax but there’s no proof of animosity and I don’t want to immediately assume there was some falling out. It could be a logistical issue but still weird :um2:

  6. I feel like the Lust for Life framework for collabs could work for Lasso - having one legend and then a few of your own peers.

Quavo, Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, Nikki Lane, and Dolly Parton would be my picks for the album based on what makes sense realistically and what I would hope for from a country duet.

  7. When Doin Time came out, we initially thought it was just for the Sublime documentary -  it was then tacked onto NFR and kind of became the album’s most commercial song.

I’m wondering if that’s the case here. Lasso was done, and then by happenstance, she linked up with Quavo and they made the song. So, like Doin Time, perhaps the song just kind of came out of nowhere and she felt it could go on the album.

  8. The thing that makes me think it’s for Lasso is that the video is very obviously set in the country and the guitars feel like Lana more than the beats feel like Quavo. And Lana is the one dropping her album, and a country one at that. Plus, it seems her people are more involved in it than his. But that also doesn’t mean the song couldn’t be on both of their albums, but I don’t think Quavo has any public plans to release one, so…🤞

  9. Ethel Cain liked and reposted that picture to her story! Interesting since they are both linked to Jack Donoghue and Ethel has been vocal about the comparisons early critics made between Lana and herself. I love to see that though, Ethel’s sound and southern gothic brand would dovetail really nicely with Lana’s.

  10. Omg a video. I hope she serves Coachella motorcycle intro if Wally’s involved. I also don’t think it will be too long of a wait since one thing she’s always said about her rapper friends is how quickly they put stuff out compared to her - and a video is a good sign of that. I definitely think it will come out before or right around her birthday.
