I made this quiz + posted it in a status a while back, but I figured since we've been kind of dry on LDR news we could all post our results and whatnot. So far 52% of the people that have taken this quiz have gotten Lana Del Rey, 30% May Jailer, and 18% Lizzy Grant. Take the quiz here: http://www.quibblo.com/quiz/hxwseTP/Which-Lana-Del-Rey-Era-Are-You?view_quiz=1 My results:

They are totally friends. Sky got in trouble once after Katy put a picture of Sky online when she was 17 holding vodka. They might not be as close anymore, but all the tweets were def in jest Source: http://www.blackbookmag.com/music/sky-ferreira-1.33605

ugggggh I can't get over how much I love Applause :/ None of the other songs really stood out to me but I think I'll like the studio versions of Swine and Artpop. Not a fan of I Wanna Be With You She seemed so tired or s/t? Iconic lypsynching tho! [my spell check keeps trying to get me to correct 'lypsynching' to 'lynching' ]

I guess I should include this~ Fiona is nothing like Lana but she did stand up for her http://www.muumuse.com/2012/06/fiona-apple-talks-new-album-lana-del-rey-to-interview-magazine-and-releases-new-song-werewolf.html/ I should also say that Fiona really hates the Criminal video and didn't want that to be her big hit, so if that's all you know of her definitely look into her other stuff. The record label wanted her to be more like Alanis Morrisette and after Tidal Fiona completely did what she wanted.. (therefore, Tidal is v different from her other albums) she didn't want her career to become something based on a corporation or something she didn't believe in, I suppose. I mean, look at those gaps in between her albums. She has so much control over her music..look at the titles of her albums- "When the Pawn" set the record for longest album title, with 90 words. (She even shot the cover art for 'Extraordinary Machine' and drew the cover, a self portrait, for 'The Idler Wheel') In 2005, Epic wasn't going to release Extraordinary Machine because there wasn't a hit song on it.. but it mysteriously leaked online and actually got radio play and they were pretty much forced to. She basically has a label as a means to get her work widely distributed but it seems like there is always some sort of problem w/ releases, like apparently they backed out of promotion w/ "Dull Tool" which was used in the movie This is 40 Anyway, I am sad that it will probably be years til we get more stuff from her, especially because of what just happened at the Louis Vuitton show, but quality over quantity.

Singer- songwriter Fiona Apple McAfee Maggart burst into the scene with her first commercial hit 'Criminal' in 1996. Her musical style is described as jazz/alternative rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFOzayDpWoI "Her songs are not afraid to get ugly, painful, and even in the most musically accessible moments, there's a touch of dissonance to make everything slightly uncomfortable." - Complex Magazine Over the course of 17 years, Fiona Apple has released only four albums: Tidal (1996), When the Pawn... (1999), Extraordinary Machine (2005), and The Idler Wheel... (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK30r_SIZ-g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beBGsee0WZo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbxqtbqyoRk Although she is heavily regarded as a mysterious and reclusive person (she disappeared entirely from the entertainment scene for six years between her second and third albums), Fiona Apple is also known for her outspoken and unapologetic nature in her music and with the public. "This world is bullshit. And you shouldn't model your life over what we think is cool and what we're wearing and what we're saying and everything. Go with yourself." - Fiona Apple, accepting a MTV award in 1997 For anyone who hasn't read it, I recommend reading her full Rolling Stone interview from 1998. Even if you aren't a huge fan, it gives a lot of insight to Fiona's lyrics and complex personality. (Trigger warning for anyone who chooses to read it) http://www.neverisapromise.com/interviews/RSJan98.html This article by Complex is great, as well http://www.complex.com/music/2012/06/the-fearlessness-of-fiona-apple

I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, I feel sorry for you cunt though xx Let me give you a response even though you don't deserve one~ a person is allowed to not like everything about an artist they are a fan of~ no one is perfect. This forum is not the kind of place that (typically) elicits relentless praise for Lana. I'd say there is equal parts critique. I don't hate anyone, especially not Lana or else I wouldn't be on a fucking fan forum dedicated to her. Do I believe what is written about her? You'd have to be more specific. I'm guessing you are the type of fan that sends her 10 tweets a day, refers to her as 'your queen', and refutes any plastic surgery/ drug rumors.. good for you, I don't really care! But maybe you should put less energy into how others feel about pop stars/ your blind obsession and more into some sort of hobby/school work.

IA, she said the same thing about Elvis. When she saw his face, she knew he'd be an inspiration. Little shallow girl ha ha I wonder how much she actually listens to these artists she name drops..we've talked about this before.. the whole 'tragic character' theme...seems like one of those calculated things to say in interviews to keep up w/ d ~Hollywood Sadcore~ thing she has going. She names Morrison, Joplin, Cobain, Elvis.. and then she can't really say anything substantial about them in interviews.

I hate that fucking quote.. it's so juvenile. But there have been artists who have had to look to substances for inspiration, and most of Lana's favorites that she lists were addicts (and tragic figures) I wonder where some of the most famous artists would have been if they hadn't been on some sort of drug or inspired by drug use. (Even the Beatles had a love affair w/ LSD while songwriting) ~ In the name of higher consciousness ~

That's so sad He's a very interesting guy.. I know he still adores Lana.. it's funny how he notes the drastic change from Stefani to Gaga, I guess Lana is still Lizzy in his eyes? Also hate that they say the song is 'new' ..ugh
