  1. I just think that the "farewell" is goodbye to Born to Die and Paradise. Tropico (forgive me if I'm wrong) is three of her music videos into a short film and she's already released music videos for Paradise. BTD/Paradise was sure a significant time for Lana, her big break, and what projected her into the spotlight and I'm sure she's doing something to commemorate the end of that era. Remember how she said she was going to quit music back in September of last year after Paradise came out?
  2. Yes! I've always thought this. Like "K" is actually Kent, and just her teenage loves in one. For K Part 1 - "I turned down the light, then I heard the sirens interrupt the silence. Is this what you wished, to commit a crime?" This could be Lana when she was still at home in Lake Placid and the "sirens interrupting the silence" could be her hearing of her parents fighting or saying that they're going to send her to boarding school and the "crime" that she "committed" was drinking and being sent to Kent was her punishment.
  3. And in Heavy Hitter, "Queen of Monterey, run to that ocean." - Another ocean reference. Another K theory I had if he was actually a serial killer: so around the time that Sirens was recorded (2004), there was the Jenner double murders (a couple was murdered on the beach in California) but it wouldn't add up as K was sentenced on death row and was convicted of his crimes. I just had that thought because I think we all have came to the conclusion that the ocean references are about K.
  4. This theory is definitely not even close but this is something I think. I do think that K went to jail but this is another theory if he didn't. If K and Lana liked each other/were in a relationship before Kent and when they were still in Lake Placid, "jail" could symbolize Lana's future at Kent and how I think it's evident in most her songs and interviews that Kent was the last place she wanted to go to. Being in jail could be K's perspective of Lana going off to boarding school. So maybe she is singing in K's POV in her K-centric songs about his relationship with her. Just a weird theory I came up with if K didn't actually go to jail.
  5. Okay, I'm sure some people are feeling me too with their interest or curiousity in Lana's journey to the South. Seriously, it's killing me and I think it's the most questionable and mysterious yet glamorous aspect about Lana for me. I think Lana was definitely in the South but what confuses me is whether she was in Alabama (as mentioned in 1949, Pin-Up Galore and another song? I can't name it off the top of my head...) or Mississippi. She mentions in Brite Lites, "I'm going back to Aberdeen, back where I was a beauty queen" and we get hints of Lana go-go dancing in the song. There's a city in Mississippi called Aberdeen, and where I think Raise Me Up is about. Raise Me Up to me is definitely about when Lana was in the South. Some people might think otherwise, but I got hints from the song talking about the South when I heard the references about voodoo and the South is notorious for its history tangling with voodoo. After learning and seeing Lana's senior yearbook dedication thing with her quote, ect. I was surprised to learn that according to the Kent article, she wanted to go to SUNY Geneso. In my knowledge, she went to Fordham. So where the South comes in is that I think she was well on her way of going to SUNY Geneso, but somewhere between graduation and starting school there, Lana decided to go to the South. She might've subtracted the year in the South from her memory so that's why she's 27 to the public and not revealed to be 28, her real age There's been some theories that she followed K to the South for a year before he got arrested and sent to death row and she went back to New York. In regarding to the K/South theory, Alabama has the death row penalty so... There's also that screenshot of Lana's old Lizzy Grant Myspace where in 2008 she listed her location as Alabama for a while so that can contradict the theory that she went 2003/2004/ (one of those years) in the South. Or maybe she spent those years after her graduation from Kent in Mississippi and 2008 in Alabama? I'd like to know your theories! I have a lot more that I can't exactly name off of the top of my head detail to detail so any addition to this hopefully growing topic is welcome.
  6. Hopefully this isn't too late, but going back to what SitarHero was mentioning about how there are a lot of songs that refer to Jimmy and how Lana and Jimmy might've not been in a relationship; in Hundred Dollar Bill she sings, "I like 'em tough and mean, Jim is the worst that I've ever seen." I think Lana used to like guys that might've been tough (maybe like those biker dudes in the Ride video, haha) and she would think that when guys were mean to her, that was how they show affection to her. I guess Jimmy wasn't interested in Lana and how he would "treat her mean", she mistook that for mutual flirtation and she hasn't seen/met a guy that she liked that "treated her mean" as worst as Jimmy. And at the end of HDB, the harmonies are "I need your love" and if Lana had been infatuated/in love with Jimmy at the time, that was probably how she felt and yeah.
  7. Should this go in the lyrics section or Lana thoughts? Hm... I remember seeing in a setlist that there was a song that Lana performed a few years back called 'For Charlie' and a lot of people think that the song For Charlie is actually Aviation from Sirens. Personally, I think that Aviation is For Charlie. Aviation is about flying and jets, ect. and Charlie's Lana's little brother and around the time Sirens and the set list came out, Charlie was around 12-13 (2004-2005). It's one of Lana's few songs that feature a love interest. And I can imagine like 12 year old Charlie wanting to fly planes and stuff, haha. The line 'it's summer and I'm committed to you' is kind of what tipped me off that Aviation is about Charlie. With Lana going to Kent and Charlie most likely staying back with the Grants in Lake Placid, Lana probably didn't have a lot of time during breaks and stuff to go see Charlie and summer break is typically around 2 or 3 months and that might be the time that Lana could really be with Charlie. Okay, this was a pretty poorly written Lanalysis, but you guys can sorta see where I'm coming from, haha! And what do you think of Kill Kill being about Chuck because there was some mention of that...?
  8. A few questions: Is Lana's birthday in '85 or '86? I've seen both appear ways. On her official Wikipedia and her fanpages, it says 1986, but on the Kent School Wikipedia of notable alumni, it states that she's in the Class of 2003. Usually when you graduate from high school, you're around 18, so unless Lana graduated a year early... Who do you guys think K is and the whole K thing? From what I think, I think that since Sirens came out around 2005 and Lana met K after Kent and returning back home to Lake Placid, which places us around 2003-2004. I think Sirens is mostly centered around K. (For K is kind of the thing that tips us off the most). From For K, it says that there was a drive-by shooting, which I think was started by K. I don't exactly think that K is the one that's taking the drugs, as drugs is often referenced a lot in songs by our queen, Lana. I think that K was older than Lana and I think the idea of Lolita, as Lolita is also a reoccurring theme in her songs, and the idea of being in love with an older guy kind of thrilled Lana and she fell in love with K. I used to think K was a serial killer, but now that idea has turned into K being a drug dealer and the whole drive-by thing. I think the one doing the drugs in Lana songs is Jimmy Gnecco. I might be wrong, but someone was talking about Lana and Jimmy meeting in rehab as they both had drug addictions or something and they lived together in the trailer park? Don't take me seriously on this one. I'm kind of certain 'Yayo' is about Jimmy. Do you guys think Lana eloped? Like in Yayo, it mentions that 'It only takes two hours to Nevada' and '50s babydoll dress for my I do's.' Vegas is notorious for people eloping, ect. And if you guys think that Lana has eloped, who do you think it was with? When did Lana go to Alabama? I always found it kind of weird that she chose Alabama as a place to go. I kind of think that Raise Me Up (Mississippi South) is about her time in the South, because one, the title of the song, and two, the song talks about voodoo and the South is kind of known for voodoo. I know on her Sparkle Jump Rope Queen MySpace, around 2008 was when she was in Alabama. Anyone think of why she would be in Alabama? It's been floating around LanaBoards for a while that Lana had a relationship with her English teacher during her time at Kent, Mr. Campbell. I'm pretty sure Paris is about Mr. Campbell as the line "you're sitting in your office" and that kind of tips us off. Do you guys think that Teenage Wasteland (Prom Song Gone Wrong) is also about Mr. Campbell? On Sparkle Jump Rope Queen's MySpace profile, it mentions that she's "been married four times in five different countries." It's always sounded kind of weird and I never really believed it, but in National Anthem, she mentions, "Queen of Saigon" in the bridge, and in Brite Lites, she says, "I'm going back to Aberdeen." I've seen in interviews Lana talking about going to Scotland and it's where most of her friends are. So do you guys think she was in Vietnam as well? I know she's referenced "Queen of Coney Island" before and it's because she loves Coney Island so I think that she was there... hmm... Does anyone know anything on Lana's grandmother, Madeleine? Ever since I heard Gramma, I've been interested in her and Lana must've loved her to the point where she got her initial tattooed to her. You guys don't have to agree with any of these. You guys can add onto the discussion and I wanna know what you guys think because these are interesting points about Lana that I want to hear what you guys think of these.
