Cherry is nowhere near being close to the notion the lyrics on UV or BTD had. The " I fall to pieces" almost feels reductive in a way.

She has obviously changed with HM. Step by step, she is leaving the destructive self behind. 

If you understand anything about Lana Del Rey as an artist, you should have noticed that BTD was an euphoric look back at a doomed relationship. She celebrated the love that was not good for her.

On UV she has portrayed the man that was in her life entirely different than on BTD. He was violent, old, quite pathetic. And she closed the album with TOW realising that she will stay alone if she choses to be the other woman.

She actually reflected on what was bad for her and now she is happy, maybe because she was able to sing that.

Now Lana Del Rey wants kids and a family.

A quick look at the lyrics of HBTB already tells you that she has changed gradually. And on LFL she clearly has a different story to tell. Maybe Cherry is the only tiny bone she will throw at the damaged part of her audience.

Oh god! The fact that she doesn't want to be involved in self destructive relationship doesn't mean she won't sing about her man being an asshole or about how she loves him and he doesn't love her back etc. She obviously loves playing the submissive part in a relationship and she won't/can't change that.

I hope we get at least one song that sounds like Shades of Cool, Pretty When You Cry and Old Money. I mean, 3 songs, each one that sounds like the ones I said.

Plus, I hope we don't get more than 3 collabs and, please Lana give us a deluxe edition w/ 3 or 4 songs (and let one of the 18 tracks be LIB, amen)

I don't wanna rain on your parade, but with the way how she says that she is not into self-destructive relationships anymore and that she leaves when the first alarm goes, I think you can pretty much forget about songs in the way of the three you have mentioned. It is simply not her anymore.

So the folks who want another UV are the new BTD fans who wanted BTD for UV.

Funny that you mention the UV outtakes. I was just listening to Fine China, after someone commented how it's an atrocity that it wasn't on the album, and was mesmerised by the beautiful songwriting.

 

 

Dan definitely had a large impact on how the album sounded, but no amount of production is able to cover shitty songwriting Dan's production is simply the cherry on top of Rick's gourmet cake.

 

Y'all keep referring to songs that were never supposed to be on the album. Let's not go off-topic!

Don't give Dan too much credit for shaping Ultraviolence to be the masterpiece it is. Since we don't even know how the original UV sounded, and how different it is to the final product, it's unfair to owe UV's success solely to Dan. At the end of the day, these are tracks co-written and birthed by Nowels. He is the real man behind the album.

 

We have actually heard the radio edit of West Coast ( the German radio edit). And that was the demo of the song. I think we don't need to go further than that.

now that she has time to record a lil bit more, i hope there are at least two g-eazy features on the album!

Despite the fact that we as fans all want the new album, I think after the recent events at the Ariana concert, it would be very inappropriate to release an album called Lust For Life just days after a tragedy where young ppl were harmed going to a concert of a popstar.

I think we should not worry about the release date if we put this into perspective.

No no, I didn't mean to say MTWBT was better, just that it was more dynamic. I agree it's a bad video.

I think this video is dynamic enough. Dancing in the beginning, climbing up to the top of the Hollywood sign, running on the sign, the red dress or whatever that is, when she holds Abel while standing behind him. ENough energy for a slow song like LFL. 

I think earlier I said I didn't like it but I was on my way to the clinic so I didn't have time to explain.

 

Basically it's just really boring to me. They spend what, 3+ minutes on her and The Weeknd sitting on the sign doing nothing in particular? If there were cuts between her on the sign and her doing the choreography.I think that would've been more compelling and interesting. Good production value but really not much as far as plot. MTWBT suffered the same issue but at least it was more dynamic than this.

OMG. MTWBT is literally one of her worst videos, if not her worst. It was just horribly done and she didn't look nowhere near amazing in this one. I know, tastes differ and all, but that is just wrong.
