  1. Do you guys think this album is going to be more mainstream and commercial sounding than "Born to Die"?

I really hope it won't. :icant:  I love that album but I prefer the more acoustic sounds in "Ultraviolence" and "Honeymoon".

I mean, I don't mind if it's another varied album like "Born to Die" but I wouldn't like something even more commercial sounding than that.

I'm not too keen on songs like "Lust for Life". All these new "happy" songs... that's not how I got interested in Lana's music in the first place. I'm struggling to connect.

Hoping this is just a phase and the next album is full of the most depressing songs ever. :crying5:

just because you are depressed you shouldn't wish other ppl to go through the same or even way more worse misery than yours. just sayin

  2. Okay, I know you guys probably don't care at all lol, but I work at Target and I know for a fact that we don't get albums and stuff until 1-3 days before the release! Like it's usually the day before, but the earliest we'd get it is 3 days before the release. In my opinion, there is no way that'd we'd keep an album in our backroom for 2 months while waiting for the release, and furthermore, if we DID agree to do that somehow, I'm more than positive that someone would eventually accidentally put it out (not necessarily in MY store, but at SOME target somewhere), and it'd easily be leaked online soon after!

    Shameless

  3. They probably thought one of the songs will do well after the tropico push, body electric had a short and really weird momentum after they released it but nothing major.

I really don't understand their approach for this album. They funded 2-3 music videos in advance, booked her a hand full of festivals and scheduled nothing but 2 radio premiers for the first two singles. that's basically all they did, now they most likely postponed the whole project because they finally came to the realisation that it won't bring them enough money to even cover for the cost of it.

Knowing what the people responsible are capable of I don't even think there's gonna be something done in these two months, maybe they'll book another festival, a magazine cover, pay for more adds on instagram and hope it's gonna sell twice as much.

On the other hand, I don't know what they were expecting. Songs become hits with payola on Spotify and radio. They did very little when it comes to Spotify and nothing in the US for radio. The fact that they can not place her on any radio format in the US is a real stunner.

  4. They didn't want Cola as a single but they gave her money for Tropico ?

Well, I mean, I get why they didn't want it for a single, it's obvious. And they agreed to pay for Tropico, but it was just not finished in time, it was months late. I mean MONTHS, not just a week or two. And then, they even gave her money for the big  release party and all. I wonder what they were thinking. It would have been way cheaper to make a video for G&M and just call it a day. Or to simply make another song off BTD a single with a proper video like Radio or Diet Mtn Dew

  5. It's not about the quality guys, the quality has always been there, sometimes it was more approachable than other times, but always out of question. I am following Lana since 2011 and how her releases get executed is for the most part, a big, big, GIANT mess.

It is quite disrespectful towards the actual material, but also towards her fans sometimes. I mean, something like that can happen once. That would be okay, even a second time might be understandable. But four times in a row, I wonder if they never think about it that it actually costs them more money in the end than what they get out of it.

    It is just disappointing overall.

  6. I wasn't here during Paradise, what happened?

Well, at first Interscope hated Ride and it was openly discussed with Lana. Then after a few tv performances in Europe, there was no follow up to Ride til Tropico came out way too late and it was recieved pretty badly. Lana wanted Cola as the second single but unsurprisingly and for understandable reasons, Universal never wanted the song as a single. The fact that Universal even agreed to do Tropico is truly a mystery. She also never hired Mandler after Tropico again.

  7. Agreed.

What upsets me is that there are other artists who are lazy (or at the very least, ill-prepared) like Lana is, but their management makes up for it. I wonder why Lana's team doesn't seem to put that much effort, if any, at their job?

Ben and Ed have dicked around Elle and Lanaboards more than they've actually worked at managing her this era.

I am just stunned that every time we have a new album, it seems like it always ends up in a big mess. It started with Paradise and here we are now almost five years and three albums later and it is happening again. There is zero focus and no vision at all.

  8. I'm not completely sold on either the May or the July date (it might be pushed back but pushing it to July is just era suicide).

That said, do you really think that promo singles and the LFL video could save the buzz for this release? Every magazine she was scheduled for is out or coming out soon and it feels like a July release would just make things even worse.

Magazines don't matter. The video for LFL will not create any significant buzz, but it needs to be out to move on.

She could however use the remaining songs from the album to create buzz.

  9. Thats what they should do. I know there was a leak but releasing the album 5 months after the lead single totally kills the anticipation and piss off the loyal fans. Did they even give the singles radio adds ?

Well, in the UK Love has gotten quite a lot of spins on radio, but sadly she was sandwiched between Ed's and Kendrick's songs (and I mean their entire album tracks) when they released. She had no chance without, let's say a proper campaign to succeed against them. Their songs flooded iTunes and Spotify like crazy. In the US, Love was supposed to be send out to pop and hac, but they decided to pull it back last minute. it had some spins on triple a which has a very small audience.

LFL is currently B-playlist on Radio1, but the song had a negative response quite frankly. It recieved mixed reactions from Lana's fanbase and Abel's didn't care.

To make things worse. Interscope had big releases when Love came out that were charting high

    Gaga

    Kygo & Selena

    Imagine Dragons

    Maroon 5

preparing themselves for the Kendrick release.

All of them recieve a lot of airplay, Lana recieves very little.

  10. That has already been produced and released. That doesnt explain 2 month wait at all

All singles from Honeymoon flopped 10 times more than LFL singles and they didnt care. Why would suddenly start to care? Pushback never works anyway, she wont get radio hit in these 2 months miraculously.

but HM had a tight build up. All the songs came one after the other very fast. This release is streched out because they probably thought either Love or LFL would do moderately well and they didn't.

  11. I mean, if Interscope decided to push it back, it is understandable. Love didn't become even a moderate hit, LFL is on the B-playlist on Radio1 and is hardly inside the UK Top100 on iTunes and out of the Spotify Top200. The songs they thought had the best chances to pick up, failed. When you have one of the biggest stars right now on your single and it entirely bombs, I can understand that they might want a song to bring her back on track before they release the album.

And magazines are irrelevant. Nobody reads them aside from hardcore fans

  12. If I was Lana, I would use the time wisely til July and re-start the era. Release the video for Lust For Life although it won't give the song any boost or her any significant exposure and then release a bunch of promo singles. Cherry seems like a good pick from the little we have heard of. Releasing Coachella was a mistake and that song should not have a place on the album.
