Anyways, Fishtail is fantastic to me, but I understand people's criticism towards it. It really is such an improvement on Tulsa Jesus Freak/Black Bathing Suit imo.

Candy Necklace sounds phenomenal on a long drive at night under city lights, I just tested this out

Out of the songs on the back half, that's the song I thought he was going to actually enjoy! Pleasantly surprised by his review
I love Fishtail

She sounds like she's drunk and about to pass out on Earthquakes; let's stop lying to ourselves because that song isn't even better than the Interludes
Anyways! Can't wait for the Candy Necklace video

Still no skips and can firmly say this is my favorite LDR record. I love how risky and moving it is.

Are you serious right now? Is this a serious post?

Pretty much a day and 12 hours until I can stream Candy Necklace, Kintsugi, Fingertips, Let the Light In, Grandfather, and Fishtail on an endless loop

A&W sounds so much better for me in context of the album
I haven't done a cartwheel since I was nine
I haven't seen my mother in a long, long time

SpoilerI just find the reactions a bit unexpected. Kintsugi is everything people claim to hate. Bare piano. Possibly her slowest song in her released catalog. Emotional but challenging, little to no relatable lyrics. She pours her entire heart out in Fingertips, and despite it being so personal, has really powerful emotions packed in it and it does have a melody. I definitely would have thought the reactions to these two tracks would have been the opposite. I love both songs dearly and they're two of my favorites, but Kintsugi is definitely a song that would have been dragged through the mud if it was on Chemtrails or Blue Banisters. Again, not trying to change anyone's opinion!

I personally find Kintsugi much less accessible than Fingertips in almost every way, so I'm surprised by the reactions, but to each their own!

I've been a fan since 2011 and would never have expected to still be so invested in her by 2023. All her albums have been such amazing entries in her catalogue, it's incredible how prolific she is and how the quality is always up there.
That said, I feel like this new album is her best, and to those who want to dismiss that opinion by saying "Oh that's just initial adrenaline" or something patronizing like that, it's not.
I enjoyed her previous 2 a lot but they didn't match my absolute adoration I had for albums like "BTD", "Honeymoon" and NFR. This one definitely does match those for me. It's such a wonderful journey from beginning till end, it feels like one big warm yet emotional hug and I love the diversity.
I'll post a ranking after I heard the album in full HQ friday, I haven't heard CN yet.
I just wanted to share the love for this album, cause it deserves it.Love this post, and I totally agree. The album floored me and you will not be disappointed by Candy Necklace

Lana said White Dress isn't a good song btw
Clearly she's not talking about good/bad in "this song sucks" she's talking about how she left the songs pretty raw

. I have a lot to say (like walls of texts), but I’ll be saving it for release day.
I’ve not felt this way about an album since BTD I think. Yeah, not even NFR which I love.
I bookmarked this post for when you switch up on it after seeing the absymal streaming numbers when all of the TikTok stans give up after Kintsugi

Piano.
a couple of songs with a backbeat.
A song mentioning Chucky- likely in reference to children and motherhood.
lyrics about Lana’s everyday life in LA- venues she likes to visit potentially including coffee shops, sandwich trucks or laundry.
Lyrics about modern technology- ironic in nature.potential politicised lyrics as she likes to push boundaries and make people angry- I can see this progressing.
Good. We'll eat it up while you cry harder.

Calm down
That reviewer who called Candy Necklace "glitch pop" must have taken a bathroom break and had to come up with something.

This is from the Clash review. First glitch-pop and now "Gatsby esque visions of high society"? Did we listen to the same track?
SpoilerCandy Necklace is definitely Gatsby/Fitzgerald esque for me. That part is accurate imo

There's a certain point the body can't come back from
In one year, we've learned the turn of the mouth
The depth that the chest cavity takes
Chucky was there for three out of three
I was there for the third 'cause I couldn't be
There for the one who was closest to me
But I can't say I run when things get hard
It's just that I don't trust myself with my heart
But I've had to let it break a little more
'Cause they say that's what it's for
And I just can't stop cryin' 'cause all of the ways
When you see someone dyin'
You see all your days flash in front of you
And you think about who would be with you
And then there's Donoghue
Daddy, I miss them
I'm in the mountains
I'm probably runnin' away from the feelings I get
When I think all the things about them
Daddy, I miss them
I'm at the Roadrunner Café
I'm probably runnin' away from the thoughts in the day
