sorry i just saw this quote explaining to me about the covid/cancer line, and didn't mean to ignore you (or @MJx) or brush you off (I didn't see it before making my follow up post). Like I said, no one can speak about how another person experiences something, and just because one person doesn't have an issue with it, doesn't mean someone else won't have the same experience. Nothing is universal, and of course so sorry about both your losses. I hope you can listen to and enjoy the rest of the album!!

All is well, I apologize for being overly sensitive <3 I was in my feelings earlier and felt defensive.

Girl please, you run around like a butthurt kid everytime someone doesn't call Fingertips the greatest song of all time.

If you find something insensitive because of your own personal experiences, then don't listen. It really is as simple as that. You can obviously express it, but don't expect us to just dismiss Lana's songs and intentions because of that

    Hit a nerve?

it honestly is so interesting how some of you are so defensive of anything she says/does, when she wasn't even attacked/judged - i just stated that i, PERSONALLY, feel uneasy because of the line and i have a good reason for that . it's so weird being quoted on that with responses telling me that im wrong for it, like..? i am sure that many people would feel weird in such a situation, rightfully so. is it the worst thing to say in a song? no. is it insensitive in a way? i sure do think so.

    Right.

"iF yOu dOn'T liKe iT, DoN'T liSten," acting like they're in the military fighting for Lana's honor

I think I'm confused on what you mean by "doesn't care because she's with that guy." Do you mean that she doesn't care because she's going to keep kissing him and spending time with him, so getting it is inevitable? Because if so, I think that too, and I don't think that is something she should be critiqued for. She would just be saying "oh well, I'm gonna get it." Not "oh well, I'll get it and be careless."

    Spoiler

Someone who isn't at least somewhat flippant about the Covid-19 pandemic wouldn't want to get Covid or put themselves in a situation where they can get Covid in general because they wouldn't want to spread it to other people. So yes, she doesn't care that she gets it, and by extension, other people.

Agreed in theory but I don't consider the lyric to be her not caring about exposing others, it sounds more like if my boyfriend gets it then I'm getting it too cus I won't stop kissing him, not we're going go around town and being irresponsible to others. I do think it's a bit of a dumb lyric though, hopefully it lands better in context of the whole song :toofunny:

Not sure how anyone could twist the masks line though, that was clearly just about the relief of things opening once again.

    Spoiler

I'm not saying that the lyric is her "I'm spreading covid and I don't care," but there's an implication in that lyric that she doesn't care if she gets covid because she's with that guy instead of not wanting covid in general in order that she doesn't spread it to other people. It's a stupid lyric and she lowkey deserves to be critiqued for it.

  7. I just don't understand what's so difficult to wrap one's head around the concept that Lana releases music for herself and for music, not to release the biggest "chart smash" or to appease others and that's okay. The fact that she continues to go the less obvious route by releasing The Grants instead of something like Taco Truck should be the most glaring example of that
