honestly she kinda has the right to be upset, hopefully not directly at the workers who didn't do anything except for their job, but upset at the fact that her albums are being put out over a week before it's supposed to be out, especially at places like target, especially if her label won't do anything about it

i personally prefer chemtrails a lot of people love it, some people aren't really into it, i think the consensus would be that it's better than chemtrails, though

honestly i even felt this way WITH the first three songs, they're all pretty different, of course, at the time i didn't think too much of it, and figured that it would all work within the entire body of work, but i feel like the album is quite disjointed and off-putting, this album has slightly psychedelic experimental moments with tempo changes, plain 'ol alternative ballads & piano ballads, dealer is some sort of alternative/soft rock song, there's a purely acoustic guitar track, living legend doesn't even sound finished, honestly, i think a big problem with it is the fact that this album has so many different producers, mike dean, zach dawes, drew erikson, barrie, rick nowels, & clayton & his brothers of course, born to die, paradise etc. did also have a lot of producers, yet it still managed to be very cohesive & it worked well, it's really off-putting going from a breezy, psychedelic soft-rock banger, to a spaghetti-western trap beat which was honestly pointless, to piano ballads, to a song with electronic distorted beats, to songs she recorded in 2013 and didn't bother to really finish, because let's keep it real, living legend wasn't finished, back to a piano ballad, idk, i just feel like she should've taken it more seriously, dare i say, i think i prefer chemtrails honestly violets for roses, beautiful, & sweet carolina aren't really anything different from anything that she made during the nfr/chemtrails era

i guess this is the designated blue banisters critics thread? i just don't feel like i click with the album at the moment, maybe i'll feel differently once the album's officially released & hq, maybe listening to it as a whole i'll differently, however, at the same time i feel like listening to it as a whole will solidify my stance that the album just isn't... working for me... i feel like quite a few of the tracks are pretty unforgettable, in my opinion (arcadia, i haven't listened to that song since it was released, if you lie down with me, beautiful, violets for roses, dealer, sweet carolina) and i really dislike the fact that she didn't rework nectar, cherry, & living legend, i wouldn't consider them finished, fully-produced tracks, especially living legend, i feel like the first 3 songs she released were the best from the album, besides black bathing suit, that's my current favorite alongside wfwf, also, yeah, i feel like lyrically she's been pretty stagnant, some of the lyrics in sweet carolina are honestly bad (the crypto/kevin lyric wasn't iconic it was just stupid)
