In the earliest hours of every morning, ghosts will lurk & lounge, crying out mysterious names They long for something more than just soulless mind games Through the forest a dim light what curious creature will i meet tonight? Owls, squirrels, & troubled souls, gathering beneath the pines Or witches and wizards boiling bubbles, casting sweet spells in staggered lines? The spirits will tempt their prey, like sirens on wistful summer nights

He stood up and paused staring silently under the stars He is a nocturnalist, chasing dreams is just the price he pays And the haloed Hollywood sign is staring back at him in praise Every night before, the velvet dark sky was void of any light or life Hateful now under the bleak haze of gazing Hollywood, plugged bright For sequinned stars on silver screens whose smiles wore plight He saw himself in the mirror of stars and had realized he was simply ordinary So he took a string and cast it into the sky hoping to catch something to bring him back to life And in the depths of dark above he found a shard of light It was then, he realized, he could make stars out of beach's sand & fireflies

honestly i do think there's a bit of weak songwriting from cotcc (although there is stand-out moments) but i actually really like the chorus of nawwal bc her voice sounds so sweet & fluttery, like a little songbird
