Anyone is entitled to be offended by Lana's statement, because despite her good intentions, it was a clumsy and misguided statement.

 

I do however find it dangerous to imply or attribute statements to people who didn't actually say them, and while implications are associated with the original post, to me there is no sentiment where she implied black women in music didn't have the capacity to be sensitive. Just a bunch of other problematic things. 

I think the same! And with the LFL May 26th date and NFR March 29th date, Lana never said those dates herself - they came from other sources 

So I think the September 4/5 date is going to happen!

 

Even though she said January 4th for Violet, but a major studio album is harder to sweep under the rug than a side-project like poetry

I would hate living in a world in which celebrities (and not only) would have to silence themselves and water down their speeches so that people of bad faith could not twist their words -- especially when they are not even offensive, hateful or whatever.

Ride is legit one of her best songs as far as production goes and also the vocal performance/recording is straight fire.

 

It's also vastly superior to the cheaply recorded flat/lifeless vocals on NFR as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah I should have excluded Ride from my statement because I do love the production.

I hate the vocal production of Paradise with all my heart. I actually hate the overall production. I know it was probably intentional but it all sounds... metallic? I couldn't explain it

i still think femme fatale is underrated by some, this album was so well done, it has some of her most "experimental" sounds (how i roll, trip to your heart, big fat bass) mixed with electropop that actually aged pretty well and doesn't sound dated, she served some bops that were quite different from what she did previously like he about to lose me, inside out and don't keep me waiting 

 

and scary (the japanese bonus track) is literally pop perfection, it should've make into the album bc it's so good

I think I'm the only one that thinks it sounds very dated. I used to love it back in 2011 but now cannot listen to it, I cannot stand the production. It couldn't be released in 2020 and sound fresh

You make a good point! So, since I *don't* know the demographics of the fandom, I'll say that gays are often a more vocal or open majority. 

 

(Also, I can't find it now, but there was a demographics survey conducted on the forum a couple years back, which would be super interesting to take a second look at now!!)

I don't think anyone here is trying to claim that being LGBT+ is the reason we must like Lana, but it's undeniable that she has a large proportion of LGBT+ fans -- especially gay men -- so it's interesting to explore that correlation. Not all gay people like LDR, and not all LDR fans are gay, but there IS a link, and we're talking it out.

Are we sure though ? I agree the majority of her louder fans on social networks are LGBT+ . But are they a majority of her fans ? 

I don't know for you all guys but I am absolutely silent on social networks. My friends know I like Lana but that's it + my best friend (male) is a fan too, is straight, and does not tell the world about it.

(even if u had it)- like if u got really sick right now and had never heard of this stupid virus u wouldn't give a damn, the illness would pass and you'd go along with your days...

 

old people, and babies have alwaays been dying from the common cold, of course its going to look bad if only the deaths of the people that have symptons are to be broadcasted, they're not broadcasting the amount of people who are okay and who are recovering from it are they.. and ask yourself why? even if this virus was as deadly as they say it is... why on earth would they want to broadcast how deadly it is, that would be stupid, that would be the LAST thing they'd be trying to do if it were true...

Wow so this actually got 5 likes. I really hope this post is in a sarcastic tone. 

 It's equally annoying how the media actually does make it worse, which is in no way helpful. Every 10 minutes there is another new article popping up, telling us nothing new but the same thing over and over again just worded differently. The media isn't even educating us why the numbers of the infected are rising, not only because of 'new' infections but mainly because hospitals are slowly getting the medicinal supplies and tests they need so they can even confirm an infection in the first place. Leaving out this crucial information makes it seem the virus is spreading way faster than it actually does, which will send more people into panic mode. It's also leaving out the fact, that the virus doesn't affect the younger (children) that bad or the symptons aren't as severe as with elderly people. The virus is mainly deadly for the elderly or people with already strained immune systems.

 

That does not mean it's not sad for those affected and their families and it doesn't make their deaths in any way less painful physically or emotionally, but it shows that people in average or good health should be fine. Our immune systems are fighting worse things on a daily basis, like cancer cells, with success. Which also leads to the fact, how it astounds me, no one is covering the numbers of the people who actually recovered from the virus, and the number is way higher than the ones who died from it. I don't care if you believe me, you can check all those facts online, there are even live tolls on youtube or websites that show numbers the media isn't covering because the only thing they're telling us is the infection / death count and to wash hands. Seriously, the human race overcame worse things like the plague, corona is nothing in comparison (yet).

 

It will be taken under control soon, our medical supplies and modern medicine is amazing and scientists and doctors are working fast, corona will not wipe out the human race, nor will anyone who got infected die instantly without any chances of recovering. Also, quarantine and isolation are two different things. Quarantine is for both infected people and people who aren't tested positive for the virus yet, but are under suspicion of being infected. Quarantine isn't a death sentence, people are held under quarantine because there are no ways to handle corona yet and to slow the spreading speed

 

Lastly, being annoyed at the bad media coverage doesn't automatically mean not taking corona serious. We just want more useful information and less headlines or uneducated / poorly researched articels for the sole purpose of generating clicks and newspaper sells.

 

We need to be alert, not anxious.
