Interacting with your fans is not the only way to grow a fan base, most artists do by simply making good music. Madonna managed to keep her fanbase engaged for 50 years and all it took was making good music. i feel like we are giving Marina too much leeway, she is absolutely 100% at fault for the wreck that is her career

To be fair Halsey has always been criticized for her poor writing skills, but it’s more noticeable now because of the themes IMO. Badland’s “bad” lyricism went well with the immature/childish/tumblr tone of the album so it was less noticeable. Now she’s talking about being on her deathbed and it’s just harder to gloss over imo

I was very obviously referring to the criticism Lana received from her songwriting not giving my opinion on it. I don’t think Lasso would send a bad message the same way I don’t think UV sent a bad message

dont wanna sound harsh but i kind of understand what fantano and pitchfork meant when they said she has main character syndrome. the lyrics are genuinely awful and there's nothing artistic about them at all. i feel bad saying it cause i know she went through HELL and suffered a ton but the writing is terrible

Lana has always “sent the wrong signal”… name dropping Harvey Weinstein in Cola, talking about getting drunk with her girlfriends as a teenager, glorifying abuse… like. But also… really? Country music is not inherently racist, in fact the origins of country are to be found in black culture. And she just released a country song featuring a black artist. Of all people, Lana is the one who could pull off a good country album

y'allll need to listen to Cindy Lee! She's the drag persona and music project of Patrick Flegel (ex frontman of Women). She does psychedelic pop, lo-fi, etc... veeeery reminiscent of Ultraviolence IMO! Lots of distortion and guitars and stuff. im sorry but i think that’s your issue.. I find ocean boulevard to have plenty of replay value, especially the more “verbose” songs like Fingertips or Kintsugi. Maybe you just didn’t connect with it as much which is okay. in fact, ocean boulevard contains some of her best melodies ever IMO and the same cannot be said for ADIAML whose melodies are pretty uninspired and stale

No she owns the masters to all her music, she payed for the mixing and mastering of FROOT out of her own pockets and I’m pretty sure she said back during TFJ that she chose her label because it was the most beneficial to her. yes the song we have is basically a stem edit AFAIK because that’s what leaked (the stems). I don’t think the final is much different but certainly not identical. IMO she just doesn’t wanna release it and that’s it

am I the only one who thinks this is a bad thing? First single giving Lana, second single giving Madonna, but when is she giving Addison Rae? What does an “Addison Rae” song even look like besides being an obvious reference to someone else? Is she anything more than a tribute act? Video Games never gave anything else but Lana idk. Obviously the song is good but who needs SHEIN Ray of Light
