Can't wait for this! $100 is a bit much, but she's one of a very few number of artists where I'm willing to pay the premium to support her. Hoping this ships from the US and on time! I ordered the Paradise box set from a British site (might have been an exclusive there?) and it took like 3-4 weeks to arrive after I got the shipping notice. Since I purposely did not listen to any of the songs aside from Ride until the album arrived so they'd be all new to me, the wait was excruciating.

Most albums tend to have filler songs though, so by having more tracks on the album you tend to have more high quality songs on it. At least that's the way I look at it. And BTD & Paradise had no filler on them, and only one song that I would consider bad (Yayo) so I'd be confident in her ability to provide us more good songs if the album is longer. In regards to other discussions, 6 minutes is not too long for a song. And count me as one whose hoping that's not the real UV cover.

That doesn't change the fact that the song was released online 6+ months ago so at best we'll be hearing just a redone version on the album (and the version that was released online was studio quality, not a demo). I get the intention was for it to be there and that it was leaked, not released officially. Still, I'd rather take having a brand new 14th song on the album instead of a higher quality or redone version of BB. In the overall scheme of things its not that big a deal, its 1 song out of 14 and is a bonus track not on the regular album (which is probably the case due to the leak). Just find it ridiculous how many here wanted many more already leaked songs on the album or are hoping that songs like Ultraviolence are just redone versions of songs already released/leaked in the past.

Paramore put out an 18 track album not that long ago (with no bonus tracks) so its not that absurd a notion. ^_^ Always felt it unfortunate that the industry standard is 10-12 songs an album.

Ridiculously hard choice for me to make. I'd probably put it among one of these 4. Angels Forever Forever Angels Damn You Hollywood Queen of Disaster

Its about having new music on the album rather than a song that people have been able to listen to on Youtube for 6+ months. Overall I can't really complain though. I said a few weeks back I'd be okay with BB being on the album as long as it was solely as a bonus track, and we otherwise got new music and that's what appears to be the case. I do find it quite ridiculous that some are speculating (hoping) that many more of the songs are rehashes of other songs like Kill Kill and others.

18-20 ^_^ At 60+ minutes I'm happy with the overall length though.

Ecstatic that we finally got a track listing. Happy to see some longer songs on there. If we're getting a smaller song number (even 14 with bonus tracks is not enough in my eyes) that helps make it up. It boggles my mind that people want multiple songs to be rehashes of older songs. Completely absurd. Give me new music. I'm happy that, at least at this point, Black Beauty appears to be the only old song being on the album, and ideally they make adjustments to it on the album. Anyone know about any special/deluxe editions (a la the one they did for Paradise) and where to preorder?

Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread

FYI, this week's Entertainment Weekly has a brief blurb about West Coast and references Ultraviolence coming out in June. I've transcribed it below: "Del Rey's still got that summer-time sadness, but the first single off Ultraviolence (due in June) isn't just another gloomy operetta, its scuzzy, thrown together, and totally hypnotic, like a lo-fi incantation to the gods of sunburn and smog checks. The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach gets credit for the throbbing production, but the heat coming off those Spanglish sweet nothings ("He's crazy and Cubano/Como you're my love") is all Lana. B+" -

I'll be disappointed for the wasted slot on the album if they gave us a song we've already had before on the album. As is the song is very well produced and listenable. You'd rather have them use up a track on that then get an all new song? Not me. -
Getting more and more hooked to this song the more I listen to it. Not one I loved right away but opinion has definitely grown after many more listens. Still think the choruses are far superior to the verses though.

I LOVE Hollywood, its an amazing, epic song. Still, I'd rather get an album of all new music than a song I've been able to listen to for 6+ months. I'll happily take a record that is stylistically very similar to Hollywood and the other songs that came out around the same time (Black Beauty, Angels Forever Forever Angels, JFK and Starry Eyed I believe). But I want all new music. Give them to us as polished up bonus tracks and I'd be fine with that. I'm surprised at how many want songs we've already had for a while on the album. If that June 2nd release date is accurate, not at all disappointing for me, I can wait another month. May to June is not a big deal, my fear was that we wouldn't get anything til the fall. That would have been excrutiating. -
Been a couple of days but haven't had a chance comment until now (alas the song's release coincided with the start of a business trip for me). Initial listen didn't amaze me, but I think its something that I'll enjoy more upon additional listens. Did enjoy it more upon my relisten tonight. Verses are so-so, but I'm really enjoying the choruses. The tough thing with me is that BTD and Paradise were so amazing in my eyes that I wonder if she can keep up the same level of near-perfection. When Ride came out as the first single for Paradise it was instantly one of my favorite LDR songs upon first listen and alas, West Coast was not that for me.

The more the better, at least if they're available via some special edition. I don't have a problem with the regular album having say 10-12 songs as long as they include several more on a bonus or deluxe edition. Can't stand it when an album comes out after such a long wait and has a pathetically low number, like 8 or 10 songs. Paradise was amazing, no doubt, but wish we could have gotten more than 8 (9 when including Burning Desire). Paramore gave us a regular album with 17 songs on it this past year, please LDR, do something similar.

The album is coming out December 1st. West Coast not until October. Keep telling yourself that and the actual dates will be all the better when they get announced. ^_^ Part of me wants to not listen to West Coast even if it came out tomorrow so I could save it all for when the album comes out. I did that for all of Paradise sans Ride. An excrutiating wait, especially since I ordered my copy from out of the country and waited forever for it to arrive but it was worth it. -
Both good songs (great in AFFA's case), but I'd rather the album have all new music.

How Long Have You Been a Fan and How Long Do You Think You Will Be?
Quiddity replied to Sadcore's topic in Lana Thoughts
December 2011 for me. Saw a reference to Video Games being one of the top 10 songs of 2011 in Entertainment Weekly which inspired me to check that song out, and Blue Jeans and Born to Die shortly after. I have a hard time seeing me stop being a fan absent a radical change in style. I'm not really a fan of pop music in the first place though, so I can be pretty flexible with her as long as I like her sound & voice. -
Among her official songs: Yayo Burning Desire That's it. Everything else is at least decent.
