  1. After 1 listen, I'd generally agree, just replace "Ultraviolence and Lana Del Ray" with "Born to Die".
  2. Finally wrapped up my first listen of the album. There's no better day than one when I am listening to 13 Lana Del Rey songs for the first time! Refusing to listen to anything else after Coachella came out certainly pays off today. Overall an excellent album, very pleased. There's something good, if not great about every song. That said, the album has one major flaw to me, the collaborations. I don't buy a Lana Del Rey album to hear other people sing. While its offset by the album having so many songs on it, and frankly, they're not all that bad (Lust for Life and Beautiful People Beautiful Problems in particular), said songs could have been just so much better to me if she did all the singing herself. Summer Bummer and Tomorrow Never Came in particular are quite disappointing with just how much her collaborator sings on them. Very large portions of the song. Anyway, I won't let that ruin things for me, because at least the parts of those songs where she's singing is fine, and this might be the first album since Born to Die where there is no total dud. But it will certainly take more listens to fully get into things and determine how I'd rank the songs and the album as a whole against her other work.
  3. She clearly has been inspired in part by Lynch (the Blue Velvet cover being probably the most blatant), nothing would make me happier than to see Lynch use a song of hers in the show (although I know the odds are quite slim )
  4. I like the original title more but could totally understand changing it given the prior "Young and Beautiful" song. Very easy for people who aren't as hardcore as us thinking its the same song and not bothering as a result.
  5. Guns and Roses is extremely underrated Yayo is a very poor song which should have been left off Paradise entirely
  6. Top 5: American Ride Without You Radio Dark Paradise Still thinking over whether any HM songs will break through here. Bottom 5: God Knows I Tried or 24 (still trying to decide ) Pretty When I Cry Florida Kilos Burning Desire Yayo I'd have included the covers from UV and HM if they were allowed
  7. Not IMHO if we're talking about the 15 tracks on BTD. Not a single song there I dislike or would commonly skip over as I do on her other albums. Paradise had a couple of duds (Yayo, which is my least favorite officially released LDR song of all time) and Burning Desire. But I don't view BTD itself as having any filler or bad songs.
  8. Getting Honeymoon 16 months after Ultraviolence is spoiling us if you ask me. Almost twice as long between BTD and UV, although we got the shorter length Paradise in between. When UV came out I expected it'd be 2 years before we got any new album.
  9. Probably a little too hard on the title track here although its still towards the bottom of the album for me Top Tier Music to Watch Boys To Terrence Loves You Art Deco The Blackest Day Swan Song Salvatore Mid Tier Freak High by the Beach Religion Bottom Tier God Knows I Tried Honeymoon 24 Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Honeymoon and 24 both come off as songs that could be Bond songs to me (at least musically, lyrics would probably need to be adjusted), showing just how bad a decision it was to not go with her for the new movie!
  10. BTD. Which isn't to say that the other albums aren't amazing as well, and at times have higher highs. But BTD does not have a single bad song on it, which is something you can't say about the rest.
  11. Have listened through the whole album once, a few songs I have listened to a couple of more times. Overall I find it better than UV, not as good as BTD. The album seems like a good mix of the two, leaning more heavily towards UV, at least in terms of the musical style (I don't know the lyrics well enough to comment on that). Music to Watch Boys To and Terrence Loves You are the 2 highlights for me so far, I'll have some stronger thoughts after I listen to the rest of the album. Third straight album from her (Paradise, UV and this) where the second song on the album is the best one. God Knows I Tried and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and surprisingly enough the title track are those on the bottom for me. The title tracks for both BTD and UV were excellent songs (my fave of the album for the latter) but just not that into it this time. She's done rather "eh" covers on the last 2 album and my hope is she gives it up for the next one. Anyway, initial impression was it was worth the wait and hoping it is very successful.
  12. It is so hard to believe we are getting this on Friday. The wait for this seemed so much shorter than Paradise and Ultraviolence. The songs on the sampler video on Youtube sound amazing. So ecstatic about this.
  13. So, I've been living under a rock or a while as it pertains to Lana, but is it true that Honeymoon is coming out in August/September? O_o If so, am quite ecstatic, did not expect another album this soon after what was a long wait for Ultraviolence.
  14. Congrats LDR! Highly deserved. Anyone remember what the total number of sales was for BTD? I recall it was #2, but not the sales #.
