Is it bad I would totally be down for that cameo? Knowing south park and them making everything insane, Lana would probably be the gatekeeper to the underworld and they'd have to find her in order to save Kenny from hell -

It turned into a 10 page fight because I literally quoted every member who was missing the point. Pretty much every page is like "Ugh everyones so negative and toxic" And I'm like "No, we're just stating our opinions. *writes a full paragraph on why it's good that Lana wrote a poem but that she needs to work on her writing skills and maybe take a class*" And then bloop bloop 5 minutes later "Ew the negativity is so bad!" And I'm like "Again... No, were just stating our opinions *writes a full paragraph on why it's good that Lana wrote a poem but that she needs to work on her writing skills and maybe take a class*" And then again 5 minutes later "I swear you guys are idiots, and so fucking negative" And I'm like "You little fucking fucker fuck can you read properly? If it bothers you that much, just focus on the positive jeez louise! *writes a full paragraph on why it's good that Lana wrote a poem but that she needs to work on her writing skills and maybe take a class*" Like fuck! -

Part 2 leaked I may be rich, but not how you think I've got lots of knowledge and coats made from mink My daddy builds websites and I am a singer The taste of LA is a flavour that lingers I may be a vegan but sometimes I meet A grocery list full of such wonderful meats Like: 1 fish 2 fish Red fish Blue fish I fry them in lemon, rosemary and thyme Then soak them in mustard like pickles to brine My wheatgrass, my people, my city is neat Stop with the DMs of pictures of feet!! -

Again, stop being dramatic. It's not cute I think everyone's blind or something! I've clearly been saying I'm glad Lana's writing again and that this is progress, but like you guys are only focusing on the fact that I don't like the poem. Who's the negative ones now huh? -

Also again, just as an FYI, because some of you truly are getting offended by the critiques of a poem, just because we're fans, doesn't mean we enjoy everything. We all have opinions, and I mean if everyone is going to start crying when people speak on their true feelings about something, I mean might as well close down the entire board then, seeing as it's purpose is to discuss, not blindly follow everything that someone does. That's a cult. Try CultDelRey.com if you're only interested in worshipping Lana. If you cannot handle seeing negative feedback, then this isn't the place for you. Period. -

Sorry I just get so passionate and I just write till I'm like "oop I think I'm done" then hit post. I really need to start revising my posts cause they're messy and repetitive but thanks for reading! Also I'm glad she's writing, it inspires me! Although I'm not very fond of how the poem was constructed, it is a poem none the less and my rather negative opinion doesn't take away from the meaning Lana has behind it and how much fun she's having! But yeah, I'm very, VERY slowly, learning how to calm the fuck down and express myself properly! See what I meant by we all need to grow! -

I wouldn't necessarily say it's rude and vile, unless you have thin skin and aren't used to the sometimes harsh aspects of critiquing. No one said "Lana is a disgusting poet, let's burn her house down with all her books in it" the only thing I've read is that people saw it as somewhat amateur and subpar, considering she has been writing for the past 15+ years, took writing classes, and basically submerged herself in Whitman, Nabokov, Sylvia Plath and beat poetry for a long time. I'm glad she's writing poetry, I just think she should have sat on this poem for another year before releasing it. I have hope the poetry book won't be like what she posted on instagram, considering how beautiful the title is. I just think some members here shouldn't be so dramatic and act as though we've signed a petition to have Lana's hands binded and her mouth sewn shut. If things like this really bother you, I wouldn't necessarily say being a part of a forum is the best idea, considering it is a union of all aspects of opinion, not a biased playground of compliments and devotion. As I've stated and will again, I'm glad Lana is writing. I also think, since she genuinely (kinda) enjoyed pilot classes, maybe going to some writing classes would do her some good. She could invite her new gal pals, bring her coffee, discuss literature, and improve on something she has potential for. There's nothing wrong with working towards improvement, I mean, even singers like Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande have vocal coaches! Growth hurts no one. -
Do Lana fans live in the past too much?
PerwinkleDreams replied to creditcardromancer's topic in Lana Thoughts
I also feel like Lana was free back then in all styles. There was no "oh this has to be well recieved by the public" or "oh my fans will like this" or "you know what, I shouldn't write about that", it was completely unfiltered and beautiful. I think that's why I enjoy her old stuff so much, she sort of has to go through this "Lana Del Rey filter" now with music. In her old songs, she did pop, she did folk, she changed writing topics, styles, even accents. Nowadays it's sort of "okay 1. I need to sing in my deep dark Lana voice 2. I need to write about something meaningful that will be recieved well without telling too much 3. It needs to be soft, slow and heavenly to match my discography" whereas back then it was like "let's sing about anorexia, overdosing in my mans car, being at Fordham, going to kent, the trailer park, the canyons, okay now I'm doing pop, okay now I'm doing acoustic, okay now I'm doing something jazzy" it was just truly mesmerizing to see this woman go through endless possibilities and flourish in all aspects. Now I just feel she's stuck inside Lana Del Rey. The greatest freedom she had was writing music for herself to enjoy, not us, that's why I think it was so evolved! I don't know how to further explain my thought, but I hope you guys sort of understood!- 12 replies

It's nothing personal dear, I just expected more from someone who claimed to read Sylvia Plath 24/7, live and breathe Nabokov & Whitman, and got down to beat poetry. -

It ain't bad, it's not EXTRAORDINARY and award deserving, but it's okay. I swear though some people are preaching like she's the next Maya Angelou You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise. Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? ’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room. Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise. Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops, Weakened by my soulful cries? Does my haughtiness offend you? Don't you take it awful hard ’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin’ in my own backyard. You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise. Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I've got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs? Out of the huts of history’s shame I rise Up from a past that’s rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise I rise I rise. Now THAT'S a fucking poem ladies -

Girl I'm so far from perfect, so I don't mean to come off as condescending, but I guess I do at times, and for that I'm actually sorry. The only thing I don't genuinely is enjoy is; someone will say something positive, and get praised. I'll say something negative, then that positive person will come for me or for others saying something negative, and then when we clap back and say something about the people being positive, they act as though we're looking to fight, when we're simply standing up for our opinions as they did. Also if someone who's on the opposing side aka the negative side comments on this, people say "oh girl don't play the victim." But if the positive opinionated person mentions it, they'll get stood up for. I don't know, I've just noticed most people in this fandom not being able to realize there's two side to a coin, you need both sides. -

She did that after tho What facts did I twist All in all: if we're taking it from a perspective of a singer writing poetry, then yes congrats to her. If we're taking it from a poet perspective, then no. Let's just agree to disagree! -

I didn't realize volunteering at native reserves, helping alcoholics at AA meetings, going to writing classes, learning how to play instruments and going to university as a philosophy major was immature compared to hanging out with instagram bloggers everyday, going to coffee shops and wearing tracksuits -

I'm sorry I'm disappointed? What do you want me to tell you. If she's being held to the standard of singer's writing poetry, then yes she did a great job. If she's being compared to poet standards, then no she didn't. I'm not going to lie to make everyone else feel better, especially when I love poetry. I'm sorry if I offended you, but you could just skip over my post if you've taken it personally. Love you though -

Random question; wasn't she in writing classes for a little while early on in her music career? It seems as though she feels constricted in her writing nowadays? It could just be me, but it seems as though the lyricism and content from Sirens, From The End and Young Like Me were much more mature and thoughtful than what we've been getting lately. I just didn't think the day would come where I realized her art was in retrogression and I hate to make comparisons to her past work but come on I just guess in a way she set the bar too high for herself back when she was going through hard times, and now that her lifestyle has calmed down and she has too much time to think about thinking, she doesn't really possess any inspiration for new stories and tales, but I can't blame her. I mean, she's going to a coffee shop everyday talking to the same people, so how much can that really add to the story you're trying to tell? -

I can always count on my girl Yung not to be afraid of the 12 year olds here who follow Lana like she's a prophet. The poem reads like a third grade writing assignment. The only reason why they're enjoying it is because it's Lana. They're pushing for this "oh she is the next world poet, get her into the writer's hall of fame, Lana is the most serious artist of our generation" and it's like uhhhhh That ship sailed a long time ago when Lana started rhyming blue with you. I love her to death, but I'm sick of the gays always over exaggerating everything. I'm glad she wrote a poem, but it is NOWHERE NEAR close to the greats like Walt Whitman, Maya Angelou, Sylvia Plath, etc. I know this is going to get quoted with "you're too stupid to understand true art! You dumb mother fucker! Lana is the greatest poet that ever lived! You can feel the emotions in her writing! You must be blind" and I'm ready to laugh. They get REALLY irritated when you try and burst their bubble of delusion because their self deception is the only thing leading them towards enjoying some of the mediocre stuff Lana has been putting out. But yeah, I'm proud of Lana, hopefully her subject matter improves. I'd be down if she took a writing class. It'd be the best thing she could do, because she has alot of potential, it's just a matter of sifting through the coal to find the diamond. Can't wait for all the quotes from the young twinks saying hateful things like comparing me/making fun of physical illnesses such as being deaf, blind, or mentally challenged! -

How someone does one thing is how they do everything = if I'm lazy and wear track suits and my hair in a bun and I can barely wake up early and don't put effort into my own life, don't expect this era to be anything but that. We love cryptic messages!
