  1. Remember when he said the NFR track names from Shazam were bullshit
  2. I just know I’ll miss the US signed copies and they’ll sell out :clown:
  3. She used to talk about a reissue and has spoken about the project more in recent years after seeing how much fans love it, but she still seems hesitant to make it available online again. This is likely due to the assertions of inauthenticity surrounding her buying it back and taking it down when Born to Die debuted. Or, perhaps because of the permission needed from David Kahne and the revenue participation due (David Nichtern mentioned that here: http://www.mtv.com/news/2695337/lana-del-rey-first-album-5-points-records-interview/). What do we think?
  4. This is a hard one for me. I'll have to go with Ultraviolence because of it's ability to conjure mood, paint pictures of moments, and the biting sarcasm throughout the record. The repetition in the choruses works in this album because of the hazy, 4am swing of the production. Lust for Life had very high highs in terms of lyrics, but also some of her very worst...UV is more consistent. I think NFR may surpass it, though. Some faves: "Shared my body and my mind with you That's all over now Did what I had to do 'Cause you're so far past me now You get a little bit of Bourbon in 'ya You get a little bit suburban and go crazy Because you're young, you're wild, you're free You dance in circles around me You're fucking crazy" "I could have died right there ‘Cause he was right beside me Jim raised me up, he hurt me but it felt like true love Jim taught me that, loving him was never enough With his Ultraviolence" "But I can't fix him, can't make him better And I can't do nothing about his strange weather But you are invincible I can't break through your world 'Cause you live in shades of cool Your heart is unbreakable" "They say I'm too young to love you They say I'm too dumb to sing They judge me like a picture book By the colors, like they forgot to read I think we're like fire and water I think we're like the wind and sea You're burning up, I'm cooling down You're up, I'm down You're blind, I see" "Down on the West coast, they got a sayin' "If you're not drinkin', then you're not playin'" But you've got the music You've got the music in you, don't you?" ^this especially speaks to me as a fellow sober individual. One of her very best, IMO. "He's got the fire and he walks with it" ^Seamless David Lynch reference "You say that you wanna go To a land that's far away How are we supposed to get there With the way that we're living today?" "The power of youth is on my mind Sunsets, small town, I'm out of time Will you still love me when I shine? From words but not from beauty My father's love was always strong My mother's glamour lives on and on Yet still inside, I felt alone For reasons unknown to me" And - although simple - the lethal sardonicism of FMWUTTT is underappreciated. HM to Born to Die, though. I know a lot of people focused on the Lolita theme, but it's a pretty incredible blend of Americana imagery, satire, and a personal narrative.
  5. Can we not give him any more of the attention he so desperately desires?
  6. Lana going back to rock-oriented songs make me appreciate LFL more as a venture into electropop and hip-hop influence, but it's still Lana's weakest album because it wasn't edited enough. She's just at her best when harmonizing over a guitar.
  7. I can't understand the hate for HTD, and I have to believe it's because of how different it is. I would understand if they were Roachella cheap trap beats, but I get serious Tori Amos/Broken Social Scene vibes from some of those instruments.
  8. Reminds me so much of Never Let Me Go or On Our Way because of the vocals/melody
  9. Because she knows better than us what aesthetic and overall theme to pursue for the album and how those lyrics fit in. I enjoy a lot of the dry humor and sarcasm she throws into her lyrics even if critics don't always get it. Even her fans miss a lot of the metaphors or humor she inserts. Sometimes, the references are purposefully obscure or personal, but I'd rather that than your generic Sia composition that could be sung by anyone.
  10. I need this to be the album that finally gets Lana an 81+ metacritic score and AOTY nomination. I'll take a Grammy win as well.
  11. I just hope the last three tracks don’t all stay piano-driven because that section could drag a bit.
  12. Looking for America needs to be a digital bonus track. I can’t get over how stunning it is
  13. Well, her team did really well keeping HM and LFL from leaking before the NZ release.
  14. well, tell your mother that Lana needs every sale she can get and to hold tight onto that shit.
  15. I could see myself loving the BAR lyric changes if the second chorus - bridge - final chorus- outro are the same as the old version. It would be a tale of romance leading to resent. As long as she didn't get rid of the architecture line.
  16. There's one shooting tomorrow - someone from here found an ad looking for extras. It has Grease vibes.
  17. We went from having nothing to having: NFR on Aug 30 (and sounding like her best since UV) Double MV by Rich Lee Shooting another video Miley/Ariana soundtrack collab in the fall Guillermo Del Toro soundtrack with 60s rock Lana Looking for America poetry book September BBC Live Lounge 2019-2020 tour Possible Disney soundtrack What even

  19. LFL having some of her highest critic scores shows that they just go along with whatever the public narrative is. They realized it was becoming trendy to acclaim Lana, so everyone jumped on board.
  20. Especially after evilentity pointed out the play on words.
