I think Melanie saw the positive feedback on Sirens and chose to incorporate a heavier sound on some tracks, such as Void, Larynx, and Evil. They all share an indie-rock leaning sound in production, same as Sirens which i guess means thats fucking scrapped I'm going to hold out until the album before I judge Spider Web, half the snippet was instrumental. Reminds me of Cure For Me by AURORA a little bit.. not saying i like that song much but Surprised she hasn't provided a longer snippet of "Limbs" "Developing" is giving needle & thread Hawaii peace space guitar dream and I'm excited for that one, I hope it doesn't like break out into a country song or anything tho

Anyone else notice the links on melanie's merch site? peach-t-shirt-3 is the Moon T-Shirt for example. Peach is the name all the tracks are registered under on AHA music right? I wonder if any of the merch coresponds directly to a song (like Moon Cycle) which is why that name was used, or if its just a dupe name for the project as a whole (like Soup & salad)

The leaked songs are leaked. I'm happy we're getting some sort of iterations or updated version of Tunnel Vision at the LEAST. If it's crucial to her story it will make the album (I guess Drama Club is the example). But like, what do you expect artists to do in this situation? Sirens is one of her top search results on youtube with close to 800k views on 1 video alone. Say she kept the best of the leaks. Then what, Atlantic gives her a month long rollout teasing a song that's already reached mass consumption for zero profit? I know we all wish Mel could say fuck it and drop the popular leaks as a gift, but she can't. I'm so tired of this inexplicable argument, even though it's out of love for this music.

I feel like Battle is definitely a double edge sword type song, where the "battle" is an argument between Melanie and someone else, but additionally, it's agree with the interpretation that the song also represents an internal battle, Melanie vs her voice. It could be literal, like her actual vocal damage, or maybe something more in the vein of Cry Baby, where she's "battling her larynx" when trying to articulate herself to others (God i wish i never spoke now I gotta wash wash...)

Watched a chunk of K-12 last night. Plot kinda made more sense this time around (you just have to do some of the heavy lifting in your brain to piece together all the plot holes thru inference) . It's just the lack of substantial dialogue that not even slightly helps move the story along.

We won't know what was finished, and we won't know until March 31... and even then! That's not to say Melanie finished that 2020-21 batch of songs in the months leading up to it all leaking. But imo u can tell songs like Jinx, Barely juice, or even magnets were more just the idea of that day in the studio, and then they'd proceed to work on more fleshed out songs.
