My last post before I force myself to get back to work...

of the songs I've heard, here's my colour associations:

the grants - earthy browns, autumn leaves and deep ocean-blues that turn into a lighter sky-blue as the song progresses

ocean blvd - ivory white and dirty, stained porcelain over dark blues, with a few tiny bits of neon blue when the piano dances over verse 2

sweet - earthy browns, autumn leaves and deep forest greens, occasional yellow like her shirt in the Arcadia video

a&w - faded sepia tones, almost black and white, and when the beat switches it goes dirty gun-metal, oil, smoke, petrol and electric blues

fingertips - all very light baby-pink, baby-yellow, baby-blue and lots of smoky grey over everything.

    ok now do yours, bye

The Grants - white, black, grey

Ocean Blvd - dark blue, silver, gold

Sweet - light grey, white, pale yellow

    A&W - black, grey

Fingertips - grey, light blue + green

    Grandfather - blue + silver

Are single choices still important nowadays? Genuine question because it's not like album deep cuts are forgotten like they were in 80s, even a non single can go viral or have tons of streams, idgi :um2:

Singles aren't that relevant at all for Lana - over time she typically has random album tracks out-streaming her single choices. :lmao: It really doesn't matter at all for her.

  3. I’m hoping she’s releasing some deluxe tracks from the Ocean Blvd sessions.

She could just make an easy, separate digital deluxe album out of them on the 24th and boost her streams that way if she wants to go harder for the #1.

Albums are limited to 80 minutes and Ocean Blvd is 78, so maybe she wants to give us her ~complete vision~ or something.

I’m always excited by the prospect of “New music”…

People complaining about Lana releasing a song they’ve already heard…You mean, you chose to listen to the leaks and now that you’ve ruined the anticipation for yourselves, this is how you gonna cry?

    IJBOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, that's why I was bummed when songs started leaking bc we'd all be so excited right now if leakers hadn't spoiled it AND some didn't choose to burn themselves out on it. I mean, just stop listening to the song until Tuesday? lol.

Regardless, it's still a gorgeous opener to the album, and I have a feeling casual listeners will really enjoy it.

The Grants doesn't even directly cover her family's issues, she doesn't mention anyone in her family (in Fingertips, for example, she mentions names)... The song is very cute and anyone could relate.

Yeah... it actually seems like the first verse is addressing Sean (assuming due to proximity to title track)... the chorus is general - death/memories,  the second verse addressing tackling her mental health for the sake of her family/future, and then her family by the end of the song.

I don't recall any songs by Lana that sound like it, because it has a gospel choir, it sounds very 90s diva if you ask me. So maybe this comparison I'm making is a stretch, but the instrumental alone could be from a Honeymoon outtake - piano, organ, strings and synths

You're spot on in that The Grants might be her most '90s pop diva sounding ballad so far in a way. She'd probably hate us for saying that, but... I actually love it, haha.

  7.

The Grants is an interesting choice of a single. I might prefer it as an introductory album track because it exudes a similar feeling/effect to the title track.

That said, it is one of her most “heavenly” tracks. It’s veering on a straight gospel song with how spiritual it is, like I’ve been saying, and I think it could appeal to the GP as much as it appeals to us. It’s just an interesting pivot after A&W, when there’s more to explore sonically on the album outside of that opening 4 track suite.

Then again, we all know Lana, and she tends to push/focus on the first ~4 songs on her tracklists, so this is not a surprise!
