Lana Del Rey Set to Do a Maida Vale session on BBC Radio 1
prostitutestare replied to HEARTCORE's topic in Latest News
Mother Lana better brush up on those live vocals, though to be honest, from what I have heard, she usually gives a pure vocal in intimate, studio settings. She allows herself to really become one with the songs she is singing because she seems more comfortabld. I need a sultry "Ultraviolence" and SoC vocal performance! -

I also thought the song was going to be another Lana Del Rey original in which she creates a character who literally screws her way to the top of the music industry. A song in which Lana, in her creative, imaginative fashion, describes the perils this girl underwent. Girl, bye to a diss track! I am not here for that at all, and I do not think, if it is a diss track, it will speak to any part of what we have heard so far from Ultraviolence. -

I think it is meant to sound somewhat turned over, expired, dank... -

This song is everything. I knew it would take me by my hand and TURN me out. I knew it. It is everything I could ask for from Lana. The first verse is the killer. It delicately disarms you, and then cuts you at the throat, sweetly. Come on, bitch! The layered effect on the chorus vocal adds to the bleakness of the track. I don't know about anyone else, but no one does grunge heroin fish like Mother Lana. And while I could not stand the spoken piece in the live version, I love it here. There is dark power here, a guttural seduction that only Lana could emote. It is sickening! -

I honestly cannot believe this. Tears are developing in my eyes. The surprise is almost...I cannot explain the way I feel. This song, in video form... Lana better work the shit out of every scene! -
Lana Del Rey performs "Ultraviolence" (Song) in Vancouver

This darn song --- Lord have mercy on me. I really never gave this live version a good listen until recently. Wow. The lyrics are so...I am speechless, really, though I could do without the spoken word piece. Lana gets it right time after time. I hope the studio version captures the grim desolation of Lana's vocal delivery throughout the song. -
Her delivery during that verse says that she is NOT playing with any other tramp who might want her man.

I have been listening to the song all morning, and I am not sure if anyone has commented on this already, but I am so undone over the fact that Lana channeled all of the goddesses of the Motown era to vocally produce this track. Work, Lana. I am surprised that I did not hear it at first. Am I the only one who gets Diana, Gladys, 50s 60s doo wop tease, especially from the chorus? The last little bit SMACKS of Minnie Ripperton, and yes, I know she is not of the Motown era. There is even a bit of bird whistling in the background during Lana's humming that alludes to her paying homage to Miss Minnie, the queen of the sickening, bird like whistle note. Yes, Lana. She has clearly studied the mothers of music.

Chile, I would just about die for a "Roses" or another version of "Yayo." -
I really do love "Hollywood" so much. It's funny because there was a time when I got tired of it, after initially discovering it and playing it to death. Now it seems as if I can't stop. I just love the earthiness of her vocal tone..."Hair to my ass, we'll be flying in the wind, shooting heroin and speedballs." Come on, Lana. Pump through! I am also hugely into "Disco." It is the quintessential Lana Del Rey track, in my opinion.

Lana's obsession with the clolour blue...#LANALYSIS
prostitutestare replied to a topic in Lana Thoughts
This shows how transparent Lana is, and it validates the reason why I give her such praise for her songwriting. The girl is, in my opinion, a musical genius. She has so many layers, and I like that she is able to articulate it through her writing. This constant use of the word "blue." I would have never thought of it. Work, Ultraviolenc3. -

Did Lana say in the opening bars, "I was filled with poison but blessed with beauty and rage" ? Yes, bitch! Eat it. -
*rummages through purse, furiously looking for heroin needle** Lana is speaking to me so clearly this era. From the art direction of this promo single cover to the dreariness of both song releases, I assume Mother Lana is returning to her true origins, yet she has stepped her game up stupendously. This is giving me "Disco," "Black Beauty," and "Bel Air," all of which happen to be some davorites of mine, with the "violentest" flair. I will not take Lana this season! Yes, Lana, stay in your lane, sis. Do what works for you. Why change the formula? It is glamourous sadcore teas, and you all will live.

I am so enchanted by the photo of her laying in the flowers, smoking her cigarette.

All I know is that on Ultraviolence, Lana better employ her signature hum vibrato that she often uses to accent her vocal phrasing. You all know what I am talking about. Get into the Marilyn Monroe homage tea she gave in the beginning of "National Anthem." The bizarre hum I am referring to was all up and through that little bit. I live for it. -

Forgive my rant, but my wig is ready to completely come off. I had no idea the album was ready for pre-order in France. Was that ever confirmed? I have never been so excited for a release! This will be my first full purchase of an artist's music in eons. I need this....Soon. -
"Dance Man" aka "Let My Hair Down" is iconic. What an amazing song that, imo, really speaks to the feel of the Phenomena era. And not to mention, "Rehab," which is everything. These are the songs that made me fall in love with Lana's style.
-
Yes, Lana. I need more of this makeup and overall look from you.
-
Down! It seems as if people have forgotten about the Phenomena era. Lana was everything during that time. Is there a full Phenomena EP, or was that just an era?

I hope "Cruel World" begins with a sickening instrumental rife with guitars and synth. It needs to be lowtempo, and I imagine Lana giving a drawling vocal with a touch of vibrato, where she sings, "It's a cruel, cruel worlll-ddd, a cruel, cruel woooorllll-ddd." I imagine there being a valley girl inflection on the word "world," same as she used in Summertime Sadness. I can already see myself giving a soft sway of hip to the beat. Didn't Dan say the album features a seven piece band as its. background musical composition? Could you imagine the new life that would give "Black Beauty?" Yes gawd. I just cannot deal. -
But, it was actually ovah, the cover for BTD. Simple but effective.
