it's the 'american life' snippet, it's not the same song as metallic stallion (which some people have been speculating) edit: the title has leaked, it's confirmed not to be metallic stallion, the caption is a clue to the real title

Jesse was publicly accused in early 2019 and I believe the tracklist was already announced by then. marina might have heard rumours in 2017 or 2018 behind the scenes but he only worked on two songs, one of which she re-wrote and registered without him (if its worth it) so if she really cared that much about there's nothing wrong with you she could have done the same, I think she just wrote enjoy your life and liked that more than tnwwy personally. someone messaged katie mcintyre (the original designer) on instagram and she couldn't say much for legal reasons but there was behind the scenes drama that lead to the cover being scrapped, there were other designs too but she couldn't share them it's probably why handmade heaven was moved from january to february with no warning and why the covers we got were so... uninspired.

I think we can definitely blame jack, the reason she worked with so many co-writers was literally because she 'doubted her decision making abilities' and I believe the reason she felt that way was due to her constantly ignoring her gut feeling about him all the time. there's also her cfs, and that london house they shared had black mold the landlord just painted over, I'm not suggesting marina is completely blameless for the album being how it is but at this point, six years later, some people are being way too harsh considering all that we know about her circumstances at the time. this was about adiaml! which I personally believe, it's her quickest release so far and her shortest, then she announced she was going independent on tour. with the 6th anniversary coming up soon I've been thinking about love + fear a lot. I know plans were probably scrapped due to fan reaction, though I don't think the behind the scenes issues of her cfs flair-ups and arguments with jack (and likely label/management) should be ignored, but I want to know what, if anything, she originally had in mind for the whole 'two collections that are meant to be released separately' schtick. whilst it feels like a very rushed thing she decided to do three weeks before the album dropped, she did actually talk about it a few months before. she was meant to pick different singles too and that didn't happen.

I think the LA fires interfered with her original release plans, she was supposed to release something in ‘aquarius season’

I’m sure we all know who cupid is, but ‘cupid’s girl’ is psyche, a greek goddess who’s often represented as having butterfly wings
-
there was a vc snippet of cupid's girl and she sings a lot lower in the verses, it sounds really good! this should have been the lead for sure
-
it's second one here but it's been added to, she posted a snippet with lyrics on tiktok!
-
my theory is it's either coming out globally after the listening party on radiohead (2pm PT/5pm ET) or we have to wait until July when the vinyls are released she put a snippet up on her instagram stories and she's updated the production, so I'm hoping it's the former.
-
if she had released a music video for bubblegum bitch in 2021 everyone would have been calling her 'cringe' or 'trying to hard' or accusing her of 'digging up electra heart to get her fanbase back' or whatever
-
inha being released on vinyl but not on streaming feels like a monkey's paw wish, I hope it'll drop after they do the listening party or something.
-
don't forget the discord notifications!
-
she said 'character led concept' so she's been a butterfly, and she's being cupid now! she said she wasn't doing it the same way as electra heart so I don't think the concept is going to be a big overarching theme edit: marinahq just posted about froot, they're hosting a listening party tomorrow, I hope there's more than that...

she did say enjoy your life and orange trees were made to try and make herself happier, I think it was an interview for venus fly trap she said she sometimes uses music to 'manifest' things. I know some of her 'depressing' songs like numb and living dead are some of her best but I don't blame her for not wanting to 'constantly' sing about being unhappy if she's trying to think positively. the leaked snippets sound promising, the instrumentals sound quite experimental (for her), if she doesn't want to sing deep lyrics anymore then I hope we can get some fun bops.

she moved after her breakup with Jack, so I think that was the primary reason as he still lives in london. I do wonder if she'll eventually move back as she doesn't seem particularly happy, someone speculated she might be after a green card as you have to live in america for a certain amount of time before you get one.
-
the video still works on reddit for me, but I've copied and pasted the captions though text can't convey how defeated and fed up with life she sounds
-
she posted this to tiktok and it’s kind of sad she seemed pretty positive pre-campaign about her mental health etc, she did talk about running away/leaving LA in one of her poems iirc but I wonder if the mixed overreaction to butterfly is getting to her?

someone found this, but they all link to the standard edition of FROOT right now https://marina.lnk.to/froot10

apparently the intro strings are used in the second half of the choruses (about 1:11), I can sort of hear why people think that but I’m not sure if it actually is the same stem changed to fit the melody and bpm, or if it’s just a similar sounding stem.
-
the bridge part was beautifully shot but I didn't like the makeup/face tape look on her, I don't think it suits her the same way it does on charli xcx for example
-
the intro reminds me of 'all around the world' by ATC. I don't hate it but I don't love it, it's cute/enjoyable and I suspect it might be a grower. I wish she used her lower register to give a bit more contrast, it feels a bit one note from verse to pre-chorus. I actually prefer the chorus to the verses, I just feel like sometimes she works better with a co-writer to edit lyrics and maybe this could have helped here, but there's nothing egregious that makes me want to make an edit like purge the poison's verses. the concept is cute too! personally I find it relatable.
-
I think she had a little bit of involvement, like the name feels like something she would come up with and she actually did some press (the nylon interview), but I definitely agree it was 99% the label, and I don't think she had anything to do with TFJ being released globally as she has literally not mentioned it to this day.

15 years of the family jewels may we one day get sinful final and the album photoshoot
