from what I’ve gathered about paparazzi, unless you’re easily recognisable and have people tipping the paparazzi off, if you’re not at an event or a well known spot, paparazzi isn’t really an issue. most celebrities that aren’t a-listers call the paparazzi on themselves for PR purposes (and, tbh, even easily recognisable celebs still call the paparazzi on themselves and do exclusive deals with certain papers) (obvs the paparazzi can be and are (sometimes) a total menace, and not all celebs do this)

I will never get over the fact she wrote froot whilst single meanwhile the only ‘romantic’ song towards jack is superstar (end of the earth was for a movie so I don’t count it) and the nicest thing she said about him was ‘what I like about you is you know who you are’

miss y was never finished (unlike scab and plaster it was never registered as finished on GEMA) so it’s possible a HQ bounce was never rendered, which is a shame I feel like miss y fits the theme of teen idle and electra heart better than scab and plaster so it’s sad she didn’t continue with it, same with double life she was told she couldn’t do the project under another name, and merged, but it really wouldn’t surprise me if marina tried to push it through all the same, after all the songs were mostly done and paid for so why not try and put them on an EP? it would have also meant there wouldn’t be that weird issue with living dead not being commercial enough in north america and missing from the tracklist & streaming for years

It seemed like a throw-back from The Family Jewels... We'll see what we can do with it.’ maybe she was going to post it to her soundcloud? or maybe as a free download? the album wasn’t out yet so perhaps she was still hoping she could do a die Life EP with the songs? alternatively, as the date is just when it was bounced, perhaps she just wanted it for her archive or wanted to sell it like jealousy.

I honestly wonder what that would have looked like for marina, I think it would have come with a different set of troubles (like feeling she had to be another person to be appreciated, even more people wanting electra heart 2.0). it’s so annoying that electra heart is so overlooked (publicly) for it’s cultural impact, even now. also iirc part of her breakdown was that two of her family members (one being her great-grandmother, who sung on fear and loathing) died and her dad got sick, and she was stuck on tour. I can’t remember if that’s entirely accurate though. it must be so traumatic to not only be stuck halfway across the world and having to deal with that by yourself, but to have to perform almost every night and risk letting down thousands of people and risk being in debt

what I hate about new america is ‘stars are shining for you’ is a cute lyric and I wish she based the song about that alternatively, I also think (taken out of context): ‘Everything that made you great only made you bad’ / ‘I know that you had big dreams, that you had big plans’ / ‘You can't bury the truth, It's time to pay your dues’ / ‘You've been in pain for a while. You can't hide your secrets, we can see’ could have been turned into a different song, maybe about some mythological figure, a well meaning hero that fucked up y’know an ancient dream in a modern land…

apparently, (and I don't have a source for this, it's just what I've heard), but soft to be strong's demo was actually produced by rick nowels, and later on sam de jong added extra production and was credited as the main producer with rick only getting a co-writing credit, the same thing apparently happened again with too afraid and justin parker, if true then that means there are technically 2 extra producers on top of the 9 producers already credited on the album. again, this could be 'insiders' making things up, but we do know this is the case with superstar (sam de jong just adding some drums and speeding it up), except captain cuts actually got a production credit on that one. imo the demos of all 3 of those songs are better than the finals, apart from stbs' extra bgv. 'you' could be another victim of this, it makes no sense why jack didn't just reproduce 'you' & the production sounds a bit clean bandit-y to me

coupled with 'yeah you might as well accept it' I get she meant something along the lines of 'accept your worst days are over, and enjoy your life (instead of waiting for the worst to happen again)' but the first time I heard that line it's not a bad message at it's heart, it's just written badly I just find it hard to believe that all those talented songwriters sat there in that session and were like 'yes this can't be misconstrued whatsoever'

oh yes that's true, not the best song to pick as an example lol, I feel like marina leading the session is probably why it didn't work out as 'well' I refuse to believe they all just let 'enjoy your problems' go through imo ultimately you can have 'basic' lyrics as long as the production is really good (most pop) or you have to have really good lyrics with basic production (marina's DIY days), L+F just didn't up the production to match the more simplistic lyrics, I also think having so many producers didn't help, with EH there were 4 main producers (greg kurstin, rick knowels, liam howe and dr luke), producing the bulk of the album with 2 deluxe songs by stargate and captain cuts, and the rest of the producers being co-producers, somehow it just feels so much more cohesive. me too!! the acoustic going into the full version is so good, guilty is overhated

honestly I really wonder what happened in those sessions for noonie bao & oscar holter (good ones by charli xcx) to come up with enjoy your life & true I get charli and marina are two completely different genres but feels like something weird happened

I think I mentioned earlier that I thought disconnect was initially supposed to be on the album, when I talked about when her break was supposed to be (basically she performed disconnect at coachella and didn't feel right about it, I wondered if that was supposed to be her 'comeback') I really don't know why she didn't save those swedish tracks (orange trees, believe in love, enjoy your life, true) for an album after love + fear, instead of reproducing her whole album, but she's a big fan of erik hassle so maybe she felt like it was a dream come true or something, anyway we'll never know cause she'll never tell us and it won't change what happened either way

just desserts was just always a bit weird for me cause it felt like it wasn't her song, then it turned out it was never meant to be her song in the first place lol baby shouldn't have been on the album and I think it's over hated because of that, but it should have just been a solo song and made a bit slower, she really struggled to sing it live (which doesn't make her look good at all) and she even had nightmares about performing it. 'if i left the world' is forgotten by everyone but I like it, the scrapped 'remix' with marina singing a verse and some bgv on 'stay all night' by alma was a good example of a feature imo, their voices worked well together.

I wonder if she hasn't done a greek inspired album cause she feels like it's a lot to live up too, I wonder if she worries about what her family (or specifically her dad) would have to say omg yes I forgot that happened I think marina doesn't collab cause she's just a bit insecure about it, she's been very public about finding co-writing hard, it must be even more difficult to co-write with artist then wait anxiously on whether or not a load of people say their verses are better or whatever

she deleted a load of her blogposts unfortunately, the ones on the wiki are the ones that are saved via the wayback machine, that's why there's huge gaps in 2009 and the start of 2010, the lily allen one she deleted but that quote made it into news articles the fact lily forgave marina, and asked to collab with marina on two separate occasions (recently) and marina has done nothing

"She was quite good until she wrecked it all by turning into everything she's not. i.e. going on a diet, dyeing her hair slapper-blonde and flashing her boobies." about lily allen) it's a bit 'funny' in parts, she's talking about Britney similarly to how we talk about her

oh she definitely is, she always has been to an extent, especially prevalent on her blog, the way she spoke about britney after a concert… yikes! marina needs to work on her internalised misogyny, I don’t mean that as a joke either. also another option, this was a flop marketing campaign, get the girlies fighting for some free publicity (don’t actually believe this, I’m joking)

apparently they made up according to charli, but she might have said that to get people to shut up over it. I think they both went to the same party during covid too me too, I sometimes wonder if the ‘that FROOT looks familiar’ was supposed to be a joke, then people egged her on and she got a bit self righteous at 30 she should’ve been more mature about it though

to be pedantic it was ‘perfume’, and in the UK the teenage girl equivalent of like lynx/axe for teenage boys so maybe marina was jealous of the promo (I’m joking) I think she was probably just upset she spent her money on the first FROOT photoshoot herself and it triggered her charlotte rutherford went onto work with charli for the pop 2 photoshoot (iconic) so it all worked out for charli in the end

I don’t think anyone actually wants this poetry book do they? I cannot get ‘I was the type of girl to 𝓼𝔀𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓸𝔀’ out of my head. I just want it asap so we can move on, I’m so curious to what an independent marina will do (prediction: it won’t magically fix everything) maybe she’s using this time to actually work on a concept for her new album, or she’s using the poetry to see what verses we like from it, which would actually be pretty clever

what I want for M6 is... better communication I don't mean I want her posting on instagram/twitter everyday cause I know she doesn't like that and never has been like that, but with the poetry book she just said 'more to come soon' and the thing is with marina 'coming soon' can mean anything from 'tomorrow' to 'secretly cancelling it and never addressing it again' (aka the ADIAML vines) I feel like she might announce more on the poetry book on valentine's day, but who knows another thing is she replied to a fan saying there would be a physical copy on instagram, but didn't say that on twitter or tumblr so if you're not combing her replies you wouldn't even know that, I'm sure she'll reiterate when she makes her proper post but I just feel like she shouldn't say anything or say it everywhere but that's just my non-marina opinion on announcements in general I get it's a double edged sword though, like her teasing snippets we never got (INHA/'the day I was born') was obviously with the intention of releasing them (unless she really does hate us) and keeping us up to date.
