I think we need to consider that some of the material that was stolen could be very personal. She said someone had the contents of her phone, for one. For all we know she recorded voice messages or even songs that are not intended for release and that she just did for herself or someone she knows. And then there's the photos, videos, and writing they stole, too

Some of my very best friends in the Lana fandom are involved in leaky business, but they would never dream of breaking into Lana's property or stalking her. Actually, some of them have been integral in helping to identify people who are out to harm her. Also, they purposely only share what they think Lana won't care about (like old songs, as you mentioned) None of it is completely innocent, but there's definitely different degrees. As others have said, we don't know who broke into her car or house. It's possible they knew who she was and had the intention of obtaining her personal and/or artistic material or that they were just an opportunist. But whoever it is and however they are obtaining it, it's clearly causing her distress and that's why I think we need to reconsider how we approach leaks on this site. I don't see any problem with discussing leaked music but I think less emphasis on actual leaking encouragement. I sound like a crackhead but yeah

I was also like WTF with the cloud thing I think she's just not very good at technology (or she is, but these leakers/hackers are better) She needs to employ a good cyber security person. It won't protect her 100% but I'm sure there are steps that can be taken to make her stuph more secure

Well thank you but really, I think if anyone could watch that video of her and not feel upset then there is something wrong with them It made me realise that these actions aren't harmless and they affect her actual life and safety It is ultimately @Elle's decision how we move forward or if anything changes, but maybe we could have a vote or just a thread to put forward different ideas as far as rules or whatever

But how do you determine the origin? A lot of the people involved are not exactly forthcoming or honest. I think we should have threads for songs (including leaked songs) but the focus should be on the music, and not on who leaked it, and who has it, and who didn't share it with who, and who has whatever the fuck other song and etc. By ceasing that discussion, we're taking away the incentive for people to steal from her, because they don't get any credit if they do. And that's something we can all make an effort to bring about, it shouldn't be something Elle has to enforce I'm heavily medicated for a migraine rn so maybe I'm being too optimistic but I think the basic attitude towards leaked songs needs to be adjusted.

I think the question people should be asking is: what are these leaks costing Lana? And I don't mean financially. People are breaking into her property to obtain them, and they wouldn't have any incentive to do so if people didn't carry on about leaks sm (again, I'm not distancing myself from this, because I've done it, too). The actions that are being taken to obtain the leaks are causing her serious distress and harm. Therefore, the argument that it "doesn't affect her" or that "she has enough money so she doesn't care" no longer apply. She put this up because she wants us to know this, and I think we all need to think seriously about how we conduct ourselves in relation to leaks. It's inevitable that people will find and listen to leaks (and then come here to talk about them), but I think threads promoting snippets and begging and "get to 100 pages to get the leak" should cease. Of course, this isn't my decision but that's my two cents.

Well she doesn't seem to go out by herself as much anymore, but yeah. It's scary to think of the possibilities. Personally if I were her, I'd sell the house in town and live at the other, bigger one (I'm purposely being vague but if you know, you know) The one in town is too well known and seems like it'd be more difficult to secure because of the location. It's really sad that she can't just live in peace but people don't have boundaries. If she does stay there though, then 24/7 security is a must.

I mean it wasn't directed at you or anything; like everyone else I'm just really angry I am absolutely guilty of listening to/promoting leaks, and I'm not claiming otherwise I have always known that obtaining them often involves accessing devices illegally but I guess I'm a bit naive and I never really considered the implications of that for Lana, or that people would steal physical property. So I just think these are all things people should think about. Leaks but at what cost

If people are going to these lengths to obtain them, then fuck leaks, quite frankly. I knew leaking wasn't an innocent venture but I had nfi people would go this far.
